The Sony Cybershot Dsc-p12 Was My First `real' Dig

The Sony CyberShot DSC-P12 was my first `real' digital camera. I have been a staunch believer in SLR's before, but after buying a decent colour printer decided to take the plunge.

I am more than happy with the results. Everyone else I know complains about battery life, but this goes on and on and on. Also, this model came with a back-up spare which I have never had to use yet. Memory cards are expensive, but you can pick them up at a fraction of the cost from Ebay, especially if you get them from the states.

I would highly recommend this model to anyone.

We Have Had A Sony Cybershot Dsc-p12 For Almost A

We have had a Sony CyberShot DSC-P12 for almost a year now, using it to take mostly 'snapshots' of the children. I chose it because of the good reviews, and small shutter lag, plus the 5.0 mp. To be honest, we have found this camera to be a disappointment. To take a decent photograph both you and your subject have to be rock steady. The slightest movement, and the image comes out blurred. This can be slightly reduced by setting the 'speed' of the camera to ASA 400. Also, the images tend to come out a little grainy.

Unfortunately, when trying to take that 'treasured' shot of a child, you have to be quick. More often as not the child is moving, and in your haste you have a slight (quite normal) movement. The result is a rubbish photo.

In contrast I have a Nikon 880, 3.4 mp camera. This has no problems with the children moving, or the slight amount of movement by the photographer.

When everything is rock steady, this camera does take superb photos.

I Did Alot Of Research Before Buying My First Digi

I did alot of research before buying my first digital camera, and I must say I made a excellent choice. With the Sony DSC-P12 you get 2 batteries and a carry case. The only down point being the size of the memory stick provided (16MB). So I recommend you buy additional memory when you purchase this camera.
