Kosthuree, Billericay

Went here in the evening of 13/12/2011 - had been before with no problems. This time I think there were only two members of staff working, one at the bar, the other waiting tables. We waited over an hour for our starters which were ok, but then after another 40 minutes our main courses had still not been served. We got up and paid for what we had eaten and walked out. Other tables were also not receiving their orders so I can only assume they only had one chef on and he was completely out of his depth. At about 9pm a load of other apparent members of staff turned up, after the two who were inadequately serving up to that point were clearly panicking. We tried to leave quietly and respectfully but were almost bullied into staying by the manager and staff, by saying 'your order is on the trolley now' but it clearly was not. We did not stay, even with their bullying tactics, and will NEVER EVER return there.

I think they were banking on a quiet night as it was a Tuesday but got caught out. Where they went badly wrong was seating two large tables of over ten people while we were waiting ourselves, clearly with no hope in hell of being able to serve them in a timeous manner.

My advice - AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COSTS. There are others in Billericay which will serve you better food more quickly.

Lovely food, sadly most of the waiters do not have any English at all making asking questions an impossiblity and leading to great confusion when ordering drinks

Good food, in a nicely, modernly decorated venue.

We were very pleased with the food spices just right and not too expensive for what we had. But it was spoiled by the very poor service we feel we experienced. We found the waiters to seem unwelcoming to us, not a smile on their faces all evening. We did not like their attitudes so did not leave a tip.

Go with confidence to Kosthuree for a great meal. Have a pre dinner drink in the Chequers opposite- but don't get bladdered and spoil the atmos.

Very tasty food, traditional Indian menu and they always put just the right amount of spices in their dishes. I highly recommend them. On a few occasions service has been a little slow, and some of the tables are simply too close together, resulting in a noisy atmosphere.

The Kosthuree is a warm, pleasurable restaurant with superb quality food and a fantastic selection of Indian food to die for. I always have their Chicken Tikka Madras, plain pilau rice and plain Naan - Absolutely wonderful. These guys own the Thai Concept on the same street and that is just as good.
