Best Handling Bike!

Hello!

When i got the bike it had runned atleast 19 000 kilometers.(speedo cable was broken) , so maybe more. First i changed chain and sprockets. Rear i put 55 tooth sprocet beacause 6th gear was good only on downhill or on flat with a good back wind. Now i have solid 90 km/h at 7300rpm with 6th gear.

After 5000 kilometers i rebuilded engine(piston , barrel, rings, seals. Old rings were 2 times down from service limit. Parts were 150 euros and reboring was 70euros.

After rebuild and *running in* it had about 15% more power and longer topend power. My bike is with ATAC originally.

I use bike almost every day, doing sometimes 80 km-s per day. And once or twice in week i go offroad, where my honda is brilliant. And on the b-roads i can take over choppers because of superb handling. It is wery confidence inspiring with heidenau k60 tyres, i have scraped footpegs in 60 km/h twists. It is fast on twisty roads!

As always, there should be more power(even a yamaha r1 owners want more :P), and a lower fuel consumption. My average is 5 L/100km on road and offroad is 6-7. The real top speed is about 110km/h

If you accept that, it is 125cc trial bike from 1986 then the only downside is front drumbrake. And also 2t smell on your clothes :)

I will buy a bigger roadbike in future but this thing is going to be a keeper!

Sorry for writing errors.

Mtx125r & Mtx200r

I have had my Mtx125r for 2 years now, it is a great runner and has only let me down a few times. The first was due to the clown owning it before and putting the wrong spark plug in and even after it seized the piston I beat it down with a piece of wood and a hammer and it run again (no new piston/rings or cylinder work !!!) so i have thought of a list of good and bad points for the mtx.

Good - Reliable engine, good handling, great off-road (with the right tyres), plenty of power after tuning it, brakes are good, headlight is really bright for stock, good fuel mileage, some parts are very cheap & comfortable.

Bad - 2nd gear is terrible (it breaks allot) and the parts are hard to acquire, the water pump is known to break too and parts are hard to get & its quite sluggish stock next to a kmx or dt.

Now after owning it half a year and tuning just about everything i could (i even fitted the ATAC power valve), I bought a Mtx200 engine & expansion. BEST UPGRADE EVER!! totally transformed the bike with its new 200cc engine it had so much power it would wheelie in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear without even wanting the front wheel to come up. It now blasts by any other 125 other than a NSR or RS, And a new lovely top speed of 70mph with stock sprockets and 90-100mph with MBX125 sprockets.

I am considering buying new plastics and re-doing my mtx this year, I love it that much ! I am also going to put super-motard wheels on it and full disk brakes. I have HID kit at the moment and it is so bright when you are behind someone the headlight goes through the cars windows and onto the road in front of the car.

To sum up, if you are planning on buying a MTX, check to make sure 2nd gear works and that the oil is not milky in the gearbox OR it leaks water. If it does any of this crap DO NOT buy it unless it is under 200 pounds. If all this is ok, then you have a bike that wont cause you any maintenance other than tyres, 2 stroke oil & chains/sprockets, But hey that's expected from any 2 stroke bike.

If anyone would like to know how to tune their MTX feel free to email me [email protected]

Ive just bought a mtx 125 but when i get in 6th gear it dies on me, juzt loses power, so i have to drop it back down to 5th. I did have one 15 years ago as a young lad and had loads of fun. Mine is very tidy and low milage. I paid £700 for it on a l reg, hiw much did you pay for yours if you dont mind me askig.

Well Ive Had It 6 Months And Bought It Of My Dad's

Well ive had it 6 months and bought it of my dad's mate who used it just to go to work on only. He never cleaned, maintained or went out on it for more than 5 miles a day, so when I got it it was in a sorry state. So I bought it as my first motorbike because I wanted to get on the road and loved the bike when I first saw it at 14 ( im 19 now). Even though he left it in the front yard all the time and never covered it, it still always started, always ran and never let him down. So in the next six months ive give it the attention it needed with new plastics, painted frame, professionally sprayed tank, updated exhaust, good two stroke oil and lots and lots of miles Along with alot more, (which it seems to love). The man I got it off did 600 miles a year max while he had it, in 6 months ive given it 3500 miles and its not let me down once (except when the chain broken and took out the pump housing, but thats because I neglected it and kept tightening it).

So the conclusion is: its a great first bike, its fast!!, its good looking, its a head turner, loads of people come talking to me because they use to have one and have on memories of it, BUY ONE AND GET A BIG ONE EXHAUST ON IT IT WILL KILL MOST NEWER 125's!

I Built The Honda Mtx As A Project. The Only Probl

I built the Honda MTX as a project. The only problem I have is a oil pump that needs resetting and a snapped clutch cable. Good strong engine, good road handling for a trail bike. Good bright headlight.
