Turgid, Depressing And Boring
I caught an episode of Holby City Classic the other day, how different it is compared with current programme. The classic was dynamic, stuffed with interesting storylines and sympathetic human characters. This programme lately has become so navel gazing, it takes 10 secs for each character to say one thing, lots of staring into space, dull characters (Chloe - her mother) constantly banging on about issues - mental health, state of NHS etc. Writing and direction all wrong.
What A Load Of Rubbish.
I used to enjoy holby nothing like what goes on in real life trust me done 20 odd years in A/E but the characters made up but the best have all gone just a few old ones that I like.bring back jac.sorry you need new writers nurses on the ward and theatre ha ha.don't like the new cast boring sorry again but it's true.not a lot I do like especially tonights episode.
Have The Holby City Writers Gone Mad?
I have been an avid Holby City viewer for many years and I have to say that I am at the stage of turning off the TV altogether or watching something more entertaining like the test card (remember that?). Having systematically got rid off some of the regular characters in recent weeks, they seriously wound two of the best characters and some bright spark thought it would be a good wheeze to put Ric on remand for punching someone in the face - really? The current story lines are absolute pants, boring and unrealistic. Over the years there have been some pretty far-fetched story lines, but I have always stuck with it out of my sheer love for the programme, now however my patience is being tested to the limit. How about getting back to basics and having some patients with believable ailments and general worries about the state of the NHS? The only good thing that has happened recently is the return of Dr. Petrenko and that only lasted a nano second. Please BBC programmers what are you playing at?
Who Brought Donna Back
Who brought Donna back if she was on duty when I attended hospital I would run a mile
Too busy interfering in everyone's business and no nursing puts me of watching even though I have been a fan for years until she returned. Hate her character
Latest Storyline Is Rubbish
I am a retired registered nurse with many years experience and have watched and enjoyed watching Holby City for many years.
Some story lines do not bear any resemblance to reality but hey ho ! artistic licence! However, the latest storyline with Adele Effanga, who I believe is playing the part of HCA is beyond the pale, She never seems to be doing any work! Spends most of her time chatting to senior members of staff, eating or pursuing her love life.In my day on the wards and I'm sure it is still the case, nursing staff worked their butts off and would not have been allowed to get away with the amount of slacking her character does. She could be doing all that chit chat but maybe when she is off duty. AND eating at the nurses station!!! I don't think so!!Otherwise, I tune in every Tuesday and love,
I Am An Ex-qualified Nurse And I Have Been An Avid
I am an ex-qualified nurse and I have been an avid viewer of Holby City for many years, but my opinion of this medical drama has dropped considerably since Christmas 2010.
Four of the main cast members have left, I particularly miss the characters of Connie Beauchamp and Joseph Byre, and the show now just seems to be used by the BBC as an example of ethnic diversity.
The storylines are less interesting as well. It is such a shame that it is slipping down the drain.
I loathe all the saop operas but love decent dramas. I beg the BBC to restore Holby City to its former greatness!
I totally agree I used to watch this show avidly, the writing and characters are very poor. The writers need to watch an old 10 years old episode of Greys Anatomy to see how a brilliant award winning medical drama is written and continues to be written brilliantly and actually looks something like a real hospital.
I agree with this comment. Holby used to be so good, and is so poor now. What has happened to Elliot? where has he gone.

What A Shame The Writers Of Tonights Episode Didn'
What a shame the writers of tonights episode didn't do enough research into Polands Syndrome and spoilt what could have been a great story line. - Well done to them for broaching the subject - but if raising awareness of such a little known and yet hugely impacting condition was what they were about - then they failed miserably. - Why complicate it with other conditions and then a teenage pregnancy? Life with Polands is a struggle - and complications of reconstruction all too real without inventing other conditions to add to the problems.

Exaggerated City
Is Holby City stereotyping hospital behaviour?
Holby City is a hospital based drama about the lives of the workers in the hospital. It involves love affairs, marriages, divorces, births, deaths, friendships and murders. The popular TV soap has been on air for 11 years and has generated views of over 5.44 million. But is Holby City changing the views on the real hospitals or is it simply another dramatized TV programme.
Holby City, in my opinion, isn't that far off real hospital life. There are romances and job fighters in reality but perhaps not as dramatic. The relationship between Joseph Byrne (Luke Roberts) and Faye Byrne (Patsy Kensit) went on for too long and bored viewers with the constant on and off relationship between them both which finally ended with Faye leaving her baby with Joseph and starting a new life in France. The departure of the feisty Connie Beauchamp (Amanda Mealing) who went to go and look after her father with dementia, wasn't much of a surprise to the viewers as the story line was dragged on but Ric Griffen(Hugh Quarshie), who was diagnosed with cancer, was a complete shock to us all, wasn't it?
Holby City views are decreasing throughout every series. Is this because the most popular characters have fled the set in hope for better acting roles? Or is it that the once popular TV soap is becoming old and in need of giving up its slot on a Tuesday evening at 8:00pm to more newer programmes?
This Is A Show Full Of Really Bad Acting But It's
This is a show full of really bad acting but it's the BBC plenty of money to waste. That Robert Powell is the biggest waste of space on the show .
