Everything Ok Except Exclusive Dealer [no Direct C
Everything OK except exclusive dealer [no direct charger to camera , no cigarette's charger , the memory(MMC) 16 MB included only ; other memory(SD) not compatible with it like Transcend,Kingston & SanDisk . Value for money ,I bought it about 640$ 5 years ago . I suffer to charge the battery (switch off then charge it alone by adapter)

I Found This Lumix Fz20 A Very Nice Camera In Gene
I found this Lumix Fz20 a very nice camera in general, it can be simplistic on the 'simple' mode which is useful for quick flicks. However it can be altered to become more advanced for the more educated photographer.

I Am Not New To Digital Cameras, But When I Found
I am not new to digital cameras, but when I found the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20 in my local shop it was as if I had suddenly found the camera I was looking for in digital. The price was what I expect to pay, but what I got was far beyong what I expected for the price.
The Leica lense system (13 lenses in 8 groups) gives the very best clarity I have seen in a digital camera, coupled with the fast response (I take a lot of natural history stuff) which allows me to capture the actual shot I want not 1 second after the action.
It has two "choice" scene programs (choose from 7 and allocate to two for immediate call up) which is very useful for swapping between long action shots and close up stuff.
Overall, this camera is worth more than a look, if you can borrow one for a while you'll be looking for one of your own quite soon.

The Panasonic Lumix Dmc-fz20 Is A Mixed Bag. The L
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20 is a mixed bag. The lens is amazing along with image stabilization. It's fast to respond and images are beautiful. But the controls are too fiddly. The evf and screen will not brighten in low light - so forget taking pictures in the dark with an external flash! And you can't be sure if an external flash will fire as the settings have to be precise. Evf is low pixel and can become too cluttered with overlaid info. It's frustrating to own a camera with such potential that's let down by important features. It's old hat now and needs a makeover to keep up.
The comment about the quality of the EVF is a very fair one. You only have to look at the now obsolete Minolta Z series to see what is possible with a viewfinder - it was streets ahead of the FZ20. Yes it is a quality camera and I have owned one for two years but I don't let that blind me to the facts. The viewfinder is only one issue; the poor performance of the CCD in low light conditions and the max. ASA 400 rating leaves me VERY frustrated indeed. If Panasonic have improved the CCD noise issue and the poor performance of the EVF then later models will be worth considering. As it stands - if you favour using the viewfinder over the LCD perhaps you should look elsewhere or later models than the FZ20. If you want superb lens quality, the EVF isn't important and you don't want to shoot above 100ASA (200ASA is a tad noisy as well) then go for it as the build quality ,handling and picture quality at 100ASA are superb.
I disagree...It is incredible value, pure quality, a joy to use and a reliable quality photogaphic tool.
Sorry rarinrob I still hold my opinion. I have used complicated cameras for 40 years and always read the manual. However I was making a comparison with other complicated cameras who's manufacturers make them easier to use that Panasonic. Look at Kodak or Konica just to see how they use jog wheels and buttons that fall readily to hand and you can feel. Some of us have work hardened hands that just can't feel those silly little buttons. Its called ergonomics. Also these companies realise that the inventive user will want to use their cameras in less that ideal lighting conditions. So they have gain on the EVF so you can see the subject through the viewfinder in low light. Yes this camera is a beauty.. But It has flaws that take its overall value down. If panasonic would only listen and make just a few changes the FZ20 would be hard to beat. As it is, its a compromise.
I rest my case
Perhaps you should have read the manual before using it. Yes, it is complicated, but that's only because it offers so many manual options for the user. Once you've experimented with it you soon get to know what's what. A slightly unfair review for what is a very good - and well-priced - camera.

Great Looking, Great Performance, Lovely To Handle
Great Looking, Great Performance, Lovely to handle and own. The Panasonic FZ20 must be digital photography's best kept secret. Like all Panasonic equipment, the FZ20 oozes quality. Very much like a 35mm camera to look at, the FZ20 offers a huge 12x optical zoom "yes optical zoom" plus a 4x digital zoom which gives an overall 48x zoom lens. The image stabilise has to be tried to be believed and even at 48x zoom, produces crystal clear hand held shots. The lens is made by Leica (and you don't get any better than that) and all through the range it's bright and accurate, producing class leading pictures. The camera has a manual focus option which means you can take pretty much any shot you want. High quality display on the back and the best electronic viewfinder I have ever seen. Easy to use controls that allow you to just point and shoot, or you can choose different scene modes for different conditions, but if you want to be David Bailey, go manual and you can choose every setting. The flash is great, producing realistic looking shots. Video (with sound) is great, but its not a video camera, so dont expect that quality (but its not far behind). Battery life is stunning, but I purchased 2 spares (cheap off the net) took the camera on holiday to Miami, took 470 pictures plus loads of video (I have a 1gb card) and only had to put the second battery in the day before comming home. I could go on about this camera all day long. I have owned several digital cameras including Olympus, Pentax, Cannon, Samsung and Casio and this camera just blows them all away. I love touching it and using it and frankly just holding it and looking at it. If you want a play toy that is something special, look no further. My only regret is I can't open the box again for the first time !!!!
It's now been over 12 months since first buying the FZ20, and dragging it all over the place, the camera works as well as it did the day I cracked the box open.
The pictures I have taken have been superb, and when using it, I still get the same buzz I did the day I bought it.
This really is a stunning camera for a sensible price.
I would love the FZ30, but why?...
I really do think that when it comes to any kind of TV or Video images, that you can pretty much buy anything Panasonic and relax in the knowledge you have one of the best products around.
