Great System !! If You Are Short Of Space And Need
Great system !! if you are short of space and need both a stereo and DVD player on the same unit, and at a reasonable price this is it.
I found the quality of the sound the looks and functionality to be spot on, can't fault it ! in fact we have this in our kitchen which is quite large and the sound completely fills the room. No hesitation in recommending it.

The Jvc Ux-p550 Is A Nice Looking Little Hi-fi Wit
The JVC UX-P550 is a nice looking little hi-fi with a good sound.
This model is a DVD micro hi-fi that should according to the instructions play DVD-R.
While it plays shop bought DVD's with no problems.
I have yet to find a DVD-R that will work.
Every time I insert a DVD-R I get a message onscreen saying CANNOT PLAY THIS DISC.
I have tried several DVD-R media with no joy.
I have up to now sent three e-mails to JVC asking them for assistance or an answer. I am still awaiting a reply. It seems that once they get your money they don't care.
It is the fact that it wont play DVD-R and JVC's don't care attitude that the overall rating is marked down.
Totally wrong, It is supposed to play DVD and does.
It is not supposed to play DVDs, which are a video medium, not audio!!! It clearly states on the front panel CD-R/RW Playback.
i own this model and had the same problem with cd -r play back. i contacted jvc they were not helpful at all.
After 6 e-mails I finally got an answer from JVC. It appears that the unit does play DVD-R.
You have to use 8 x media, I was using 4 x.
If this had been stated in the instruction manual it would have saved a lot of bother.
I have tried a couple of 8 x media (Sumvision & Ritek) and both worked perfectly. I would now like to change the overall score to 7, it would be higher but for JVC'S slow response.
