I booked a holiday in 2021 for August 2022 for 7 nights at california cliffs for my partners 30th birthday with our 7 year old son. I paid over £1,200 for a 3 bedroom extra wide caravan.

On arrival I got a standard 3 bedroom caravan that was not extra wide. infact it was the same size as the 2 bedroom caravan next door.

when walking in to the caravan I was welcomed with a kitchen so dusty that I had to complain at reception and to the person who came around to get a score of the state of the caravan to which i said 0 and she wrote down 6. i had to go to the local tesco (3.8 miles away) to get cleaning supplies to clean it myself because:

1- the caravan was covered in dust all over the kitchen and sand all over the floor.

2 - the nisa on site is soo astronomically expensive that I would need a second mortgage to buy the same bits that cost me £6 in tesco.

3 - the carpet in the bedrooms looked like they have never seen a hoover in their lives.

4 - I was told there was no other caravans available to swap with as the site was fully booked. but I could leave and go home but I would not receive a refund.

After deep cleaning ourselves and trying to move on and enjoy the holiday we decided to go to the evening entertainment. on arrival to the show we found a table to sit at and downloaded the app which they recommend to do to order drinks. I ordered a round of drinks and waited paitently. we was then introduced to a member of the bar staff who was very apologetic and told us that 2 of the 3 drinks that was ordered was unavailable. I asked if they were getting more of them in as it is a very popular drink to which I was told that the delivery had been that morning and the items were not delivered and so the drinks in question would not be available for the rest of the week long stay.i then was given a refund and made a new order for a cocktail for my partner. to which I was told all alcoholic cocktails were unavailable aswell. which left me no choice but to drive again to the local tesco again to buy bottles of alcohol which my partner had to bring in to the evening entertainment every night in a water bottle and mix herself with Pepsi.

During the evening entertainment we started speaking to a lovely couple who had been staying for the previous week and it was their last night at this site. they told us that for there 5 night stay they had spent 4 days driving around looking at other sites within a 15mile radius to try and find somewhere else to stay because of how diabolical this site was. the children's entertainment seemed rather rushed and was only 30mins long. then it was time for linked bingo which I will not even get into. the entertainment after this was 2 men doing a comic show which was warned that was not suitable for children. so why was it at a children's family caravan site and at only 8.30pm. 5mins into their act they are talking about sex acts and getting rather rude. the showbar area was still full of children for only around 10mins before parents were leaving disgusted us included. also the showbar is not cleaned very well. there are stains on the ceiling that look like blood. and there was malteasers left rolling arpund on the benches that were there from Saturday to Thursday night.

on the night of my partners 30th birthday I asked the bar staff and entertainment staff if I could put some balloons out around a table as it is her 30th birthday that might which I was told no.( 3 nights later 2 tables were covered in balloons and banners for someone else birthday) I requested some the entertainment team to sing happy birthday to her during the night which never happened but they Sang happy birthday to someone else who was having their 54th birthday next week. so after trying my hardest to make my partner feel special for her 30th it was then ruined by the entertainment team who couldn't do 1 simple task.

We decided to try out the restaurant on site for breakfast before going swimming. the breakfast tasted quite nice and there was plenty of room around the tables so you did not feel crammed in.

we went to the swimming pool which was a bit different to what was described to the advert in 2021. there is an indoor pool with a little opening that allows you to swim outside. the pool is heated so no temperature shock when you jump in. the deepest part of the pool is 1.1m great for kids but not alot of room to move around once everyone turns up. there is very limited sunbeds so it is first come first serve. if you like being starred at or groped while in your swimsuit or bikini then this is the place to be as it seems some people who stay here have never seen one before and are fascinated by the looks of them. my partner had 1 man grab her rear in the pool 2 times in the space of 3 minutes to which I had to get quite aggressive towards him to leave her alone and complained to the lifeguards on duty who done nothing about it.

one thing the pool seems to not have is a cleaning schedule as there were plasters and dirt floating around the pool. to which someone else commented saying it was the same plaster from 2 days prior. to which we decided to leave the pool. whilst walking over to the edge of the pool to climb out I felt something sharp on my foot. I got out to find that the underneath of my 3rd toe on my right foot was sliced open. to which my partner found there were lots of broken tiles on the floor of the outside pool. my partner then tripped over whilst trying to get out of the pool and dislocated her little toe which we had to go to a local walk in centre for a nurse to look at as her toe was black with bruising almost instantly. the local walk in centre were very helpful.

if you want to eat then make sure you either bring your own food to cook in the caravan or get in to the restaurant early. the fish and chippery doesn't open until 5pm which is when the kids entertainment start so u have a choice. feed the kids before u come down or let then dance hungry. there is a Chinese takeaway across the road from the entrance. the food there is very nice and the staff are very friendly.

there is a small football area and play area on site which can come in handy until other people want to use it for themselves and bully everyone out of it. my 7 year old son was happy playing football with some other children his age when a 9 year came in amd started bullying all the kids. kicking there balls away and pushing them into the metal fencing around the court. this mate our son run off back to the caravan balling his eyes out crying saying he wants to go home. no child should be made to feel like this especially on a holiday we complained at reception and was told there was nothing they could do.

so to summarise

caravan - bring your own disinfectant and make sure you don't have dust allergys.

bar- only good if you want beer, pepsi or vodka. anything else bring your own.

entertainment - short kids entertainment time and don't do what they say. later shows not suitable for children

food - bit pricey but ok.

location - next to a beach (2min walk) or bus stop for bus into great yarmouth.

So for paying out so much on this holiday we are all thoroughly disgusted and disappointed with how we have been treated and the quality of the holiday has been disgraceful. customer care and satisfaction does not exist at the site.

The only thing I can say was nice was the weather was hot.

just returned from a weeks holiday with our family booked a gold caravan when we arrived it was a very standard gold caravan ie for an 8 birth family van we never had anywere to hang our coats so they had to stay on the seats in the living area very short of cuboard space in kitchen as we were bringing food etc to cook for a big family no frying pan or saucepan to cook in and only one oven shelf went to reception to be told house keeping went home at 10am today so you will have to wait till tomorrow or go to the hire shop on site but you will have to pay I wasn't happy about this then I got told if I wait to cook my kids tea for another 3 hours when security come in then they will bring a tray sorry kids but you cant eat for another 3 hours because the caravan we payed for 8 people does not accommodate our needs a joke security turned up at just gone 5pm but tray did not fit our oven so tuff we never got another one caravan was quite small for a family of 8 but it was clean on arrival but had to ask for extra bedding we had no spoons only desert spoons or little spoons lucky we took our own ones we stayed at cali last year and enjoyed our stay very much had nice caravan and entertainment staff were so nice and very talkative and helpful this year the entainment for children is good but tend to call all the same children on stage we spent a week with 6 children and only on the very last night one of our children got picked but noticed during our stay same children got picked most nights it seems if your children go to things during the day and team staff know them then they get picked not saying my children should always get picked but I had a very disheartened 5 year old that was so looking forward to be a part but never mind I must add that the team stars seemed very happy all the time but team star grace and assistant manager Danni were both very miserable and never made conversation once the only time they smiled was when dancing I find this a shame as being assistant manager you should be happy at least and sociable egg is very good on stage with the children the swimming pool is ok we enjoyed it and it was clean reception and security were very nice but not sure now if we would return because we spent a lot of money on this holiday team starr production we found boring especially after a week of seeing them 3 times in a few nights they were good at performing but shows were boring nothing to them at all 3 different shows so all in all we was quite disappointed in our holiday this easter so not sure if we would return to cali again weve had a lot of holidays on park resort at many different holiday parks it sounds like were moaning but were not like that we just want to have a nice break great Yarmouth its self is a lovley place plenty to do

Parking outside caravan was a nightmare and they are cramlng more caravans in we

were like sardines cramed together caravan not to bad but mattress not good came home with bad back and single mattress dirty will not be holidaying at california cliffs ever

We had a mid-week break at the end of September at California Cliffs, we are 3 active senior citizens. We had a fabulous private caravan, not on the main site but across the road, the caravan was beautiful obviously privately owned, and we respected the fact that we were staying in someone's pride and joy. Although we were not on the main site we were within a very short walking distance of all the activities, we took full advantage of the swimming pool being open to Adults only between 9am-10am, it's very nice for over 60's to have the pool to themselves before the children are allowed in to enjoy their swimming. The site is spotlessly clean and nothing is too much trouble for the Very Friendly staff, we had a small problem with the caravan on the first night ( the external light wasn't working) I reported it the following day, and whilst we were out enjoying our holiday the repair men fixed the problem. It is a Fantastic site, close to Great Yarmouth if you want the bright lights, and a short drive from places like Cromer and Sherringham for a more sedate visit. We will DEFINATLY be back next year, what a fabulous, relaxing break.

reception staff polite the rest that i spoke to were not. The bar team ignorant and dont know what manners are. Caravan clean but dining table falling apart shower needs replacing no pressure in hot water taps. Site is clean no litter around.the water flume does not go into outdoor pool as i read but is separate from pool and at end of the slide you get off it and step down acouple of steps to the ground. The amenities are dated money needs to be spent on upgrading these areas.i dont know who gave this site 4 stars he or she must of been having a laugh!! Go elsewhere.

Heater not working.water was Luke warm at best.shower nearly got me wet.cooker rings not cleaned for a long time.kept going out because of this.drinks at the club were very very expensive.also chip shop was expensive.dog barking for about 7 hours in next caravan because idiots out on the booze.very cramped for trying to park car next to caravan.

Over all,I don't think we will be using this site ever again.

To talk about the things we liked on the site would be a very short conversation.

The staff are appalling rough and ready !

just came back for cali cliffs , such a shame park resorts have not spent a £1 on that park in over 12 years and it looks it, most if not all of the hire fleet caravans badly need to be replaced , the lower grade ones are in such a state only good for off site sale. bar, pool, restruant,need a refurb i cant see it being around for much longer , used to be a nice site when haven had it

California Cliffs Holiday Park is a great place if you prefer to relax in your caravan and not use on site facilities. If you're a family; I wouldn't recommend it! Cali Cliffs is dilapidated and needs a major revamp in the way of facilities and staff. The only good point I have to express was that the weather was fairly decent. The bad point is that the Bronze Caravans were appalling! Mold on the curtains and stains on the bed sheets! The beach is gorgeous and not far from the accommodation (if you can call it that). Next time, I think I will go back to Haven Holidays! This review is to save you being disappointed!

My wife, 2 children and myself booked a caravan for 3 nights over the Easter weekend.

As soon as we opened the door to the caravan you could smell cigarette smoke. The caravan was dirty and parts of it were broken. We cleaned it through as best we could but when the children walked in there with no shoes on, their feet ended up black!

Come bed time, the beds were awful! The mattress were clearly very old resulting in a dreadful night sleep. Come morning time, the entire unit was damp.

We had booked for 3 night but following the second, even the children asked to go home!

AVOID at ALL costs!
