Bad

It leaves too much excess powder. The color is usually lighter than it looks. It doesn't last long and when you take pictures it looks like Baby powder on your face. After a while of trying the product and forcing myself to like it, I decided to return it. I spoke to customer service and they were awful and very unprofessional.

Return Follow-up

Make sure you keep the tracking number from the USPS for any returns. My return was received on 5-12-16, but never processed for a refund. Called on 6-20-16 to report no credit to my credit card. It will be "processed" for a refund which will take another 30 days. Follow up, follow up. It's your money and their customer service is terrible!

Fairly Good.

I purchased the bare minerals starter kit because I have pretty bad acne and I wanted a foundation that was going to cover this well but that didn't agitate the acne further or make my skin more oily. In the starter pack I received a 'get started' DVD which I didn't find particularly helpful because it was tricky to match up the product that the lady demonstrating was using with my product. (the kit contains 4 different foundation products). However, the foundations were creamy and stay well set throughout the day. They don't cover the acne amazingly but I was satisfied with how it covered mine and the products look really natural on my skin. My only criticism would be that when the products are first applied they make your skin feel tight and uncomfortable but this wares off after around 15 minutes or so. The best part of the starter pack was that you also receive a primer in which is a miracle worker!

Overall, I would say that this product feels light and far from oily on your skin, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with very bad skin conditions because it didn't cover my acne that well.

Supposedly Good But Very Bad Service.

I have seen good results on the product on two of my sister's faces. Decided to try it while I was in London(live in Nigeria). Unfortunately I had a very bad service from one of the makeup artists in debenhams who sold a colour far darker than my fair complexion and told me that was all they got because she was in a hurry to leave. Ended up buying it and it made my face very dark unfortunately. Went to the internet and saw so many colours she would have tried on me which she didnt do. So dissappointing.

Bare Minerals - Not So Good

Bare Minerals made me break out --- I have good skin considering my age (the skin is oily in spots but otherwise good) --- Bare Minerals made my skin look patchy when it broke out; do not use this product.

Ruined My Skin!!

I ordered a free trial of bare minerals off of the radio. I thought I was treating myself to some high end make up that supposedly is very healthy for your skin. A few days after using the foundation and mineral veil, my skin was becoming increasingly dry and scaly. Then one morning I woke up and could barely open my left eye. Both eyelids were swollen and red. It's been a week and a half since that incident and I STILL have red circles around my eyes. My skin is so dry and itchy I can barely focus on anything else. I look like I drug addict and am embarrassed every time I go into public. I called to get a refund and the lady tried to upsell me! She then asked if I was allergic to this chemical which surprised me because I was told that their ingredients were all natural! Do not trust this company.

Please Read! (esp If You Have Mixed Race Or Oily Skin!!)

First I should just say that I am VERY critical of cosmetic products. I love make up and experimenting with new things and wear at least some make up every day but I get sick of cosmetic companies making over the top claims about products which don't live up to the hype at all. Also I am on a VERY tight budget so I watch a lot of beauty blogs and read lots of reviews before I get new things.

In the last year or so I noticed little thread veins appearing on my face and more stubborn blemishes and so I switched from tinted moisturiser to a higher coverage liquid foundations. However since I am mixed race with very oily skin I was wasting lots of money on foundations which ended up sliding off, collecting in my eyelid crease and generally looking terrible after a few hours. I also had problems getting my exact skin match even with larger brands where I would expect a wider tone range.

After reading lots of reviews and seeing beauty bloggers rave about Bare Essentuals I decided to try their Get Started Kit in "Tan". It cost me £40.80 including delivery which isn't cheap but considering how much product you get it's not overpriced.

The kit contains; one full face brush, a slightly smaller face brush, a concealer brush, two foundations to match with tanned skin in "tan" and "medium tan", a product called "warmth" which acts like a bronzer, a product called "mineral veil" which acts like an illuminator/skin perfector and a concealer called "honey bisque". It also contains a DVD which shows you how to use all the products and advertises other products from the brand. All the products are very fine powders which I was hugely skeptical about since I've had very bad experiences with powders on my oily skin before! They normally end up caking or sitting on my skin and making me look like a clown :(

I initially opened the box, watched the free DVD and was rolling my eyes at the tiny amounts of fine powder foundation the women were putting on their skin because I knew that it wasn't going to make any difference on all my blemishes and little veins. However obviously I had to give it a try so I started applying the make up along with the DVD. After the first tiny layer I could see no difference and was really disappointed but it is suggested you build this up till you get the coverage you want. I didn't see how it could make any difference to my skin but after using the little tap, swirl, buff technique a couple of times my skin was looking REALLY different. I then copied the DVD using the concealer on my little veins and the warmth powder and mineral veil powder and I was so shocked at the result. My skin looked better than when I used high-to-medium liquid foundation with cream concealer and bronzer. My pores looked tiny (they are NOT tiny), I had this amazing dewy look (I have never in my life had the "dewy look" for longer than an hour!), my blemishes were covered and even with my 5x magnified mirror I couldn't see any product on my skin.

I was so impressed but still being skeptical decided that after a few hours my oily skin was going to win, or that when I went outside I'd find the colour match wasn't as good. But outside in bright winter daylight you still couldn't see any product, and I even checked in my magnified mirror (I really did). I have never had a foundation match my mixed skin that well and I've tried a LOT. About 10 hours later, my skin still looked perfect, no oily sheen, no product seeping into my eyelid creases, nothing. I still can't get over the fact that a powder concealer covered my little veins.

I really can't say enough good things about this product. The only TINY negative is that the powder is so fine that when you tap it into the lid so you can start to apply, it can be a little messy until you get the technique right. You need to be very gentle and controlled or it'll be all over the place. You also need to watch the DVD and copy the technique exactly as it's shown. This wasn't a negative for me as after a few tries I could apply everything in half the time it used to take me to do my old routine.

I have heard from other reviewers that this kit can last for 6 months to a year (even with daily use) before you need to buy any more product which, for me would make it extremely good value. I couldn't recommend this kit enough, if you have oily skin, or a skin tone that isn't always catered for it is so worth trying this!!

Creamy??? Not My Definition ... Nor The Dictionary's!

I have dry skin and am borderline anaemic, so moisture and good coverage are essential. My skin, although fair, is very good for a 44 year old - no blemishes and smooth, but the inner corners of my eyes are very discoloured (grey/purple) and I have dark areas beneath both eyes (nearest the nose). I applied the Prime Time over my Eight Hour Creme. My skin was still very dewey from the creme (dewey being the look I love), but once I started to buff the recommended amount of mineral foundation on my skin, I could see that coverage was very poor and my skin immediately felt robbed of its dewey finish. The area under my eyes which is very delicate and softly lined, was now the 'focus' of my face, as the powder emphasised the dryness. I then applied the Bisque concealer to the inner corners of my eyes. This did not give the same 'creamy' finish as my regular creme concealer and the colour was mismatched to my fair skin by several shades. The shade emphasises the area of imperfection. To market this product as 'creamy' baffles me. It is a mineral powder and behaves as such. Cream/liquid is precisely that and powder likewise. Both cannot be the same and are not - as this product clearly demonstrates. The reason it stayed on for under an hour was because I washed it off ... and reached for my liquid foundation instead!
