Monkey Puzzle, Chessington

We as a family of 4 staying in the adjacent premier inn ate at the beefeater monkey Puzzle.

We had to book a table on arrival to the hotel, all we wanted was mains deserts and a quick drink we arrived at 6pm and certainly not through choice didn’t get out till nearly 8.30pm

After we received the food none of the group were overly impressed the salmon salad cob was so dry and missing advertised avocado, the full rack of ribs again very dry.

The vegetable sticks on the kids plate were just like rubber, we ordered two sides of Mac and cheese and cheesy loaded chips and both of them were such tiny portions for the money and again very dry.

In fairness we did complain and had bill reduced, the staff that served us were so apologetic and very friendly we didn’t want to have to complain to them but we were genuinely disappointed and left there feeling ripped off we would rather have spent a 3rd of the £65 bill cost on a bargain bucket down the road. And that’s what we will be doing tonight on the second part of our stay at premier inn.

For what they charge in the current climate the offering is appalling.

The Monkey Puzzle is a restaurant in Chessington, Surrey. Whenever we have been to the monkey puzzle, we have had to wait mo more than half an hour to get a table, always extremely pleasant staff, and an excellent menu (in my opinion). We have a great time there, and is always very good service.

Overall, an Excellent Restaurant.

Enjoyed a birthday meal on 24/7/08 after visiting Chessington. We were very well looked after and the food was very good. A meal here would save getting caught in the Chessington exit traffic as you could leave your car in the Zoo car park. Good value and would book again

A very pleasant evening, good food and drink and service. Made us very welcome, all the staff that dealt with us on our visit were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble, we look forward to eating there again!

I can't recommend the Monkey Puzzle restaurant in Chessington. It probably suffers because it is right by the zoo and does not have to try too hard for business. The roast dinners were very small. Now I know why they offer a £2 upgrade for a large dinner. It's not that expensive, but you don't get much food. Most of the tables were reserved.

The Monkey Puzzle restaurant in Chessington offers a great menu choice for all tastes. Staff are excellent, and the food is tasty.

We went on a try out day on the 21st of Feb 2007, before the main opening after a refurbishment. There was a little bit of a wait for our meals but as soon as I mentioned being diabetic and needing a little nibble of something there was a plate of crackers brought to me and a very caring attitude shown. I was, of course, fine but thought I would be eating a little sooner. I think this wait will improve once the staff have got used to the new systems etc. It was a lovely experience all in all and I would certainly go again, and the sooner the better.

The Monkey Puzzle restaurant in Chessington is part of a chain, but our experience here shows the service and cooking is well above average for this type of eatery. Tables are not too close together so you get some privacy. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the service was at the right speed - not too quick, and not too long a wait. Excellent value!
