The Glasshouse, Kew

The food is absolutely excellent, good seasonal ingredients, amazing set lunch menus, great wine list. However, all of this is let down by the staff who are unsmiling and have 'attitude'. Shame, its a good restaurant which could be great but for the service. I couldn't honestly recommend it for this reason.

it's got a great atmosphere, sophisticated, discreet service and always interesting food. Great to combine it with a visit to Kew Gardens and it's a good option for business lunch. Nice to be in a restaurant which is adult and have time to talk to friends or clients without screaming kids around. The food impresses without being flash - good ingredients speak for themselves. Every time I've been there with a client they've been pleased

We used to enjoy this restaurant. Although a bit cramped, the food was good. Complements to the chef. It is not a place for children though. The staff are obviously very uncomfortable with children which is a pity. We make it a point never to take our daughter out in the evenings, but only for lunch. We tried twice to take her there for lunch, and both times have been a disaster. E.g. they would serve the child last, once served a raw solid big chunk of chicken breast as a children's menu item.

Having been to the glasshouse before and had an average experience we thought we would give it another go particularly given the reviews and the fact that they ' welcomed 'our 19 month old daughter. We decided to go for lunch and come at the end of the lunchtime sitting to reduce any inconvenience to other diners sitting next to a small child.on arrival the atmosphere was'cold 'to say the least and matters were not improved by the quality of the food! three courses of lacklustre food followed accompanied by unfriendly service. This was particularly sad given that we were celebrating two birthdays both of which were ruined by the experience.If a restaurant claims to'welcome'children then they should fulfill their promise and if they have a michelin star they should maintain the standards that gained it. I would also add that haughty service by stuck up staff does not justify the hefty bill!as someone who is fortunate enough to visit michelin starred restaurants i would certainly not recommend this pretentious undeserving' local' restaurant which is certainly not family orientated.

Fantastic food for a local restaurant. We had the tasting menu - expensive for definitely worth it if you're looking for a long, lazy dinner.

Definitely worth going if you local to the area, the The Glasshouse is one of my favourite local restaurants.

Food out standing, the head chef really does has is taste buds turned on, bravo!

I'm writing this short review because I was nearly put off from going there by some of the more recent reviews. It did seem quite expensive but I did not begrudge the money because it was a dining experience without significant flaws which gave us a truly enjoyable night out.

We went to The Glasshouse French restaurant on a recommendation. There is a good and varied set menu here, and the food itself is well presented and tasty. We found the service efficient, but somewhat offhand. The staff were immaculately dressed. The food was overpriced and poor value. The wine was ridiculously expensive, and we strongly object here or anywhere for 12.5% service charge to be added to the bill. Out of all proportion. Overall disappointed.
