As A Business Traveller To Bedford I Make A Beelin
As a business traveller to Bedford I make a beeline for the Orchid Bay Thai restaurant, as it serves the best Thai food outside of London. It's great to entertain in, as the decor is stylish and the staff are attentive, but not "in your face". Its a gem!

Discovered Orchid Bay With The Very Well Made Webs
Discovered Orchid Bay with the very well made website that contained lots of colours which pushed me towards booking on the 27th Dec for my wifes birthday. Arrived at 19:00, restaurant was freezing cold so kept our jackets on. We were then handed a menu, a Christmas menu, which normally becomes a problem as my wife is a vegetarian and I am not. Looking through the menu our only option was to have a set menu for 2 so the choice very limted and was not happy eating only vegetables. I asked if we could order from the normal menu, he aprehensively handed me the non festive file for viewing. This sounded a little more promising. Still freezing cold, our drinks arrived, great. Food ordered. Then a long wait even though there were only 2 couples in the restaurant. Once delivered to the table my Sea Bass looked and tasted great. My noodles and chicken were cold and they also missed the tofu in my wifes vegetarian dish, so by the time they had cooked the other ingredient I had eaten most of the fish and so my wife was left to on her own. At this stage it was a discision to hold out or move on somewhere else which is very unlike us. Overall a not good experience. Suffice to say we will not be going back.
I would like to respond to the review by gtek24. Firstly, I thank him for his frank feedback, and I have taken the liberty of talking to him to discuss his comments directly.
As a company we pride ourselves on the quality of food and service that we provide, so naturally I was concerned to read this review. I do not intend to make any excuses for what happened on this occasion but I will say that on this particular day, both my wife and I were away for a few days and we left the restaurant in the charge of our head waiter and one of our chefs.
What I can say is that the staff members in question are now no longer in our employment and our head chef has taken steps to ensure that this incident remains an isolated one.
In relation to some of the specific points I would note the following:
1. It is our normal policy to offer both our special menus (when available) and our standard 'a la carte' menu, instructing clients that they can choose either.
2. The restaurant heating is normally switched on 1 hour before opening to reach a comfortable temperature.
Once again, I thank the reviewer for his comments. I have responded to the matters promptly and with a sincere willingness to rectify any failings, and as such I can ensure that he and other diners will receive the high quality of food and service that we are generally known for.

The Best Thai I Have Eaten Has Been At Orchard Bay
The best thai I have eaten has been at Orchard Bay. I came from West London, and have tried many Thai restaurants, and will definitely be taking the 60 mile trip again, the food was superb, in a good setting.
