Platinum Cover Does Not Over Everything
Platinum cover does not cover flushing of system as we found out to our cost. So basically for them to say it does is a down right lie. Tip: buy a boiler with a ten year warranty, then you don't have to worry about insurance.

Avoid like the plaque! Had cover fir 10 years they offered me £239 for my new boiler and then cancelled my cover. My policy was up to value £1500 I chose top cover got a bad firm. Do not use these people they are not to be trusted I would give no stars!
I had platinum cover for my central heating system. Had a leak for days and they sent an engineer from Baxi who said he was told not to sort it out and he left. Thought I was paying for platinum cover to manage heating piping leaks. Do NOT waste your money. Meanwhile water draining through floorboards to hallway below. The 'resolutions ' team are impotent they are useless. Am now trying to get a private plumber to sort it and I will bill d and g. Spent 10 hours on phone today....

Water Through Ceiling After Bodged Repair
They use a company called GasPlus in East Sussex. Avoid! The bare facts are that after the the leak was reaired it was worse and the ceiling was damaged. Neither D&G or GasPlus will admit liabilty and pay for repair. Terribe service.

Obstructive And Hopeless
I have insurance policies to cover boiler service at five rented flats in central London.
The service offered by D&G and the Gas Service companies just about acceptable until something goes wrong. At that point you become trapped in unanswered phone calls (or 30 mins for an answer) and circular arguments as to why they cannot provide the assistance needed.
If pursued with sufficient determination it is possible to get some sort of acknowledgement that there is an issue that they should deal with but getting the action is almost impossible.
The policy that the staff have to follow is designed to delay and obstruct, it is not designed to assist the customer.
Instead of making life easier and more pleasant for my tenants and myself, D&G have made it worse.
I have now cancelled all policies and could not recommend them to anyone.
PLEASE AVOID.

No Telephone Contact
I have been trying to contact Domestic and General on the numbers they provide on their boiler/Heating policy documents for days, totally without success. The numbers they give both are permanently engaged. I have only been able to get through to the repair centre and customer care department by ringing their head office number and being put through.
the lady I spoke to in the Customer Care team was very professional and she said she would come back to me but the telephone numbers are still permanently engaged. I will not be renewing my policy.

Don't Bother
We had been with Domestic and General for many years and they provided a decent service. Unfortunately when the boiler had a fire and had to be written off they have wriggled out of paying a fair price to replace. The boiler replacement not inc installation is £1000 they offered £270 and would not budge. We are leaving D&G for all over service plans and going to a cheaper provider. Don't pay their high plan cost shop around for a better provider.

Really Great Service
Our heating stopped working and we did not know whether it was the boiler itself or the controls. In very cold weather! Rang Domestic and General and set up a new plan to include a repair and cover going forward. An engineer was booked in for the next day who arrived promptly. He diagnosed the problem which required a part to be ordered and he was back less than 48 hours later and fixed the problem and the heating is now working again. I have personally been very impressed with the service I received and particularly impressed with the fact I am now able to spread the cost of both the repair and on going cover into affordable monthly instalments. I have an idea of what the cost of the part and this repair would have been had I called out an independent trader and it would have been quite a large bill! I am surprised at the negative reviews left for Domestic and General as my experience has been entirely positive.

After 4 Visits Of Incompetent Engineers Sent Out B
After 4 visits of incompetent engineers sent out by Domestic & General, where they damaged my boiler more than the original problem I finally got them to agree a pay and claim. I called a number of times to get authorisation from senior complaints managers prior to agreeing to have my own engineer carry out the work. In good faith I paid the engineer the amount I was authorised to spend, I sent in my invoice with a covering letter and 'authorisation code'. Tonight I got a letter from them saying they will pay part of my claim. I have lost 4 days annual leave waiting in for their incompetent and rude engineers, spent hours on the phone to then, paid to get my own boiler fixed, paid the monthly fee every month for 18 months to domestic and general and they have in effect stolen hundreds of pounds from me, by breaking our contract,i.e. they promised to repair my boiler and failed, they promised to pay me back if I paid for my own repair and have refused to pay the full amount. It feels as if they are using the guise of a large corporate (trusted?!?) organisation to get business. Save your money, do not take a boiler cover policy with them. I'm beyond disgusted with their behaviour!

Appaling Firm.
replacement boiler for old back boiler. within minutes of this firms so called gas engineers entering my house i knew i made a mistake giving them the job - seemed totally clueless!asking me"where to install" pipes etc; when they are they ones who are supposed to be qualified? radiator sludge was splashed up walls, carpets, left old pipes in walls, damaged marble hearth removing old boiler, ripped holes in ceilings by being careless, poorly re-fitted landing carpet, did not fit combi shower as part of the deal. then to top it all off they broke the new boiler and so left with no hot water for five days.bosch came to fix it and even they were discusted with their work and reported them to head office.communication was virtually nil for weeks, until they wanted their money, then when payed most of it as they promised to sort it all out and come back to fit the shower - nowt- haven't heard off them since (7 weeks ago). anyone out there - do not even think about having this firm to do "any" job in your house , stay clear!!!
Don't Trust Them
On to my third breakdown of the central heating system they installed two years ago. Each time you phone / email to complain you get zero response. Promised call backs don't happen. On the first breakdown (downstairs radiators wouldn't heat if the hot water was on), I was called a liar down the phone. Currently trying to get them to repair what looks like an electrical problem. Was told I'd get a call at 6pm last Wednesday - still waiting. Called them this morning and they denied all knowledge of me. My friend is an electrician and he can't believe they've wired the central heating into an existing feed to the immersion heater. If this complaint goes the usual way, it will come down to me threatening legal action before they take any notice. Do not under any circumastances use this company - you will severely regret it
Q&A
Where can we find the contact details and company website for this company?
Is it legal for an engineer to come and fix 'the ignition switch' on your insured boiler then leave you with no central heating or hot water without first warning you? I had both before hand even though it wouldn't always ignite on 1st attempt,it still worked. On the 1st day the engineer said "I'll have to come bk tom and flush the system." On day 2, after being here for 3 hrs, he then said i'd have to pay £500 - £600 to flush the system, then off he went, leaving me with nothing. The last 2 call outs have been costly to me i.e. time off work waiting and 'engineers that don't know what they're doing!?
