Brilliant Bike. Has Lasted With Minimum Maintenance.

i bought this bike 3/4 years ago. I cycle by road to work. It's a 20 minute cycle and it's 5 days a week whatever the weather. The bike still rides beautifully, still looks good and I've had to do very little to maintain it. Great value and great product

I Have Just Purchased 2 Vulcans From Halfords In S

I have just purchased 2 vulcans from Halfords in Sheffield. I have to say the staff were most helpful in assisting in bike selection. However after collection the bikes were left unused for 4 days and I found 1 had a fla tyre due to a faulty valve and the other after riding 500 yards snapped the chain. Not very impressed and yes they are both going back to Halfords to be repaired. We will await the outcome.

The Carrera Xc V Spec Is Possibly The Better Of Th

The Carrera XC V Spec is possibly the better of the entry level bikes out there as is. Its light, has a decent spec and feels solid. Upgrading is possible and lockable forks, slimmer wheels with puncture resistent semi-slicks and hydrolic disc brakes will make this a very good 'hybrid'/cross country bike. Gear ratios are spot on. I would not use it for very rugged trails though purely because that's not what it was designed or built for.

Frame Guarantee ? Purchased A Carrera Vulcan

FRAME GUARANTEE ?

Purchased a Carrera Vulcan 04, in Oct 2005.Have been very pleased. However I recently noticed a fine crack in the head tube. The bike has never been involved in any accident nor taken on rough terrain. Upon checking the paper work I found that the Aluminium frame is only guaranteed for two years. Has anyone had similar problems? E-mailed Halfords customer services no reply except the usual auto reply, still waiting.

I know the bike did not cost a fortune but warn others to check the guarantees before buying.

The Carrera Vulcan Is An Excellent Bike And I Stil

The Carrera Vulcan is an excellent bike and I still can't belive the value for money. I bought the bike nearly two years ago and it's still going great. I always get my bikes serviced before an expedition but the Vulcan has always been fine. In the last while I have snaped one of my trigger shifters but it was my fault not the bikes and this is hardly a magor problem given that It can still sit right and will be easy to replace.

When I orderd my bike (instore) I chose not to pay for it until I collected it and when I did the price was down £50 so I didn't have to pay as much and to make it better because I bought a bike over £200 I got a free £50 voucher to spend in store!

I really would recommend the Carrera Vulcan to anyone.

Carrera Vulcan Is A Very Good Bike For The Price P

Carrera Vulcan is a very good bike for the price perfect to upgrade for higher level riding. I rode this bike for about 6 months before deciding I wanted to start xc riding.

I got some secondhand hydraulic brakes for £30. (avid juicy3's with a 185mm rotor on the back and hayes stroker ryde with 160mm wavy disk on the front) then I got a set of lighter weight stronger wheels secondhand for another £30 (sun rhyno lite rims with shimano hubs) next I put on a shorter stem and better bars (this wasnt really needed I just had some spare and liked the feel of them). Then I got some manitou splice elite forks for £50 again second hand. I also upgraded the shifters and rear mech to shimano lx (but this was just because I had some spare, the sram x.4's it comes with would have easily stood up to the riding I am doing) and now I have a bike that is perfect for for xc and I ride with £1000 konas and £2000 specialized s-works bikes and can easily keep up with this cheaply upgraded bike costing me a total of £360 ( £250 for the standard bike)

Would Thoroughly Recommend This Bike As Entry-leve

Would thoroughly recommend this bike as entry-level and possibly beyond without too much upgrading required. Had my vulcan for 14 months. No problems whatsoever. Am well impressed with the bike for the price i paid(sub £200). No maintenance problems. One gear lever refused to work. Promptly replaced by Halfords. Has coped with everything i have asked of it - on or off road.
