Really Great Bike
I have had one of these bikes for a number of years now. It was brought second hand and I spent a bit on new parts. I use it 2/3 times a week for off road giving it a load of stick. It is by far the best bike I have ever had. I have used it as well for road riding and due to its lightness does a really good job. I would highly recommend this bike to anyone looking for a good alround bike.

The Specialised Hardrock Xc Are Very Well Designed Bikes.
These bikes are 'Engineered'. The people who designed these bikes know what there doing. Everything on the bike is engineered from the light weight frame, to the wheels and tyres, to the shocks to the gearing and seating. There very light and comfortable to ride. They are built for speed. Very enjoyable to ride.
I have other bikes, but the Specialized Hardrock is by far the best out of them all. They don't look that much different from the other bikes, but the difference comes when you ride it. For comfort and quality - The Specialized Hardrock XC far outstrips the other bikes I own and ride.
If you go to the specialized hardrock official website, you can read up on all the engineering that goes into bringing you these bikes.

Best Mtb For The Money
This bike is built like a tank, tough as nails, and surprisingly light after some key upgrades. I have the 2012 sport disc 29er and I love it. It's such a great ride and I wouldn't sell it for anything. The first few upgrades I made were to the seat, pedals, grips and fork. The stock forks are junk! I replaced it with a rockshox XC 32 TK with 100mm. of travel and solo air, wow what a difference! Other upgrades include hope tech evo X2's with hope lightweight floating rotors, Thomson elite seat post and stem, raceface riser bars, odi rouge locking grips, shimano crankset, red straitline platform pedals (sick)! lizard skins chainstay protector and fork boots. Stans ztr arch ex29er wheels with s-works purgatory tires, bontrager under seat bag with emergency flat repair kit. specialized sonoma seat. next upgrades include a Chris King headset, sram X9 shifters and front and back mechs, hope bashguard and poplok remote for the fork. I know it's a bit overboard but I'm a heavier rider that rides aggressively so I need the majority of my upgrades to make sure my bike can handle my riding style. In all I would highly recommend this bike to anyone regardless of them being a novice or beginner. Get a hardrock, you won't be disappointed.

It's Specialz!
Having owned a Specialized bike for over 10 years now I was not surprised in the slightest that this was a top notch bike. However, up until now I've only ever had their road bikes, but after watching the mountain biking at the Olympics I caught the bug! As with most bikes it took a little while to get the set up just right, but then you wouldn't drive a car without adjusting the seat and mirror, and bikes are just the same! For anyone considering it, the ride is smooth and build quality superb! Well worth a few quid more.

Solid Bike!
I've toured on a stock mid-90s hardrock for over 1,000 miles. There's no better rugged bike for the money.

Great Value
I've always been a big fan of Specialized - they're clearly a company who know what they're doing... after all they have bikes in the Tour de France (not this one!), so they should have a great idea of what they're doing. I've had a ton of fun with this mountain bike - I had a few issues with the gears initially, but I soon fixed them, it was just a matter of getting the tuning right, and it's dead simple if you ask nicely in a bike shop to get it sorted. Smooth ride. Recommended!

Best Bike Ever!!
holds up to anything I throw at it. I've proably biked thousands of miles on that thing. The paint hardly ever scratches and it's all around a great bike. The gear changes are a little bit shaky esspecially 2-1 on the right side, and the tires suck for what I put it through too soft of a compound. But don't let me disscorage you from buying this bike, It's great.
on the shifting part that is actully your de-railer on the back side moving at the wrong pace ajust the two screws on the back by a sprocket and for more go to my bike shop or contact me.
