Claud Butler Cape Wrath Disc

I was looking to buy a Scott or trek bike but would have had to pay £150 to £175 more to get the same spec. Got my bike off the Internet for £399 should have been £549 it came fully set up just had to put the peddles on. It was last year colour but I prefer it to this years.

Plus the local bike man told me the 2006 model has the better shocks as you came strip them down the new one are sealed units.

I love the bike but if I had had £600 to spend I would have gone for the Scott as that is what my old bike is.(but I only had £400 and the cape wrath is a great bike for the price)

I bought a 2005 frame at the start of 2006 as I wanted a decently specced bike for less than £400. I managed to pick up a total bargain with the Cape Wrath after reading solidly good reviews from a multitude of mountain bike magazines.

The bike has proved itself to be a stormer and I have chosen to upgrade the parts rather than buy a more expensive bike as it offers the same equipment for £500 as most £750 bikes. True the fork is at the budget end of the market and is pretty heavy, but the frame has been bombproof and has survived my amateur antics when I stuff up and stack badly. The mechanical disc have been great and are a recommended option over rim brakes.

I have currently upgraded my wrath with a lighter fork, hydraulic brakes, carbon seat post and new saddle - just to chop the weight down. The frame is a gem.

Claud Butler Cape Wrath Disc (2006 Model) - After making all the usual "beginners" mistakes with budget (i.e. they fall apart riding over a pebble!) I decided to take the plunge & get a "proper" bike so I could spend more time riding it & less time pushing it to the repair shop.

I can only describe the Cape Wrath as brilliant in every department. The build quality, component quality, & confidence it instills when throwing it around is just unbelievable for the price & better than many bikes at twice the price. If your budget is £400 to £500 this machine will not disappoint you! Totally recommended.
