Time Will Tell...
I have had a pair each of rubbish boots & shoes from MW (McLeod) - on the other hand, their 'Extreme' gear is pretty good, often being made in the same factory as the upmarket brands & differing only in the badging.
So this time I went for the 'Field' boots, at the lower end of the Extreme range (Made in China, the more expensive ones are made in Bulgaria or Romania). They have Vibram soles, & as the uppers are mainly fabric, require no breaking in. So far, I have been pleased with them.
The waterproofing has been OK. Some reviewers forget - or are not aware - that both fabric & leather boots need reproofing at regular intervals. Comfort has been great, but for the price a set of insoles would be nice. The full RRP is a penny off £140! But they are often available at half that.
Well, the replacement pair from 2019 are still going strong, as are the Field shoes bought since.
They are great for good weather walking, but I would go for a set of full leather boots if you go for coastal path/Snowdonia/Scotland in Winter.
Is there any more updae? Im looking to by some boots from them now.
The saga continues - to be fair, I took them back to MW in 2019 & was given another pair. And they have been fine. no problems at all. So impressed I bought a pair of the Field shoes after.
I have reviewed them separately, but they've been OK as well.
Following the above, later noticed a split in the right hand boot , at the RH side of the front bumper. As well as the one on the top of the LH one. Suede and underlying layer gone through. Very disappointed as they have not been used for serious walking - just some coastal paths. Have returned them for a new pair.
Other points - the Vibram soles are very slippy on some surfaces.
