Flight on time?

Deceptive Practices and Worthless “Travel Protection”

We’re a large family who travel frequently, purchasing 10+ intercontinental business class tickets per year for both summer and winter vacations. Based on our recent experience, however, we will never use AranGrant again. Early this year we purchased a total of six business class tickets via AranGrant and were contacted immediately afterwards by one of their agents to offer us “Travel Protection,” which they said would allow us to cancel or change flights with no change or cancellation fees, and apply 100% of the amount paid as credit toward future travel. It was clearly stated in writing, so we purchased it from them. When we later needed to change our inbound flights, we expected a smooth process. Instead, we were quoted a massive and unjustified price difference compared to the alternate flights displayed on their own website. After days of back-and-forth with multiple agents and supervisors, AranGrant finally admitted that they had wrongly added cancellation and rebooking fees – charges that should have been waived under the Travel Protection. By the time they corrected their “error,” the price of the alternate flights had increased. Despite admitting fault, they refused to honour the original lower fare we had flagged and screenshotted. Instead, they provided the hollow suggestion that we “wait and hope” for prices to drop again. We asked their Consumer Support Manager, Jerry Foreman, to call us to discuss the matter, but were told – conveniently – that he was “out of office until the end of the month.” He never followed up. When prices eventually dropped again, we tried to rebook. This time, they claimed they “couldn’t see” the fare we were seeing on their own site – even after we sent screenshots. While they stalled again, the fare increased. Only after it had gone up did they acknowledge seeing the lower fare but again, refused to honour it and advised us to keep waiting. When the price dropped a third time, we contacted them immediately. This time, the excuse was new: we were told that the fare listed on their website was “only valid for new reservations.” When we pointed out that we were, in fact, making a new reservation using our credit (as per the Travel Protection terms), we were told their system “technically” treats it as a modification – so different pricing applies. Convenient, again. The bottom line: 1. AranGrant misrepresents its “Travel Protection.” 2. They do not honour pricing displayed on their own site. 3. Their agents change their explanations to avoid accountability. 4. Their customer support is evasive and unreliable. We spend tens of thousands annually on business class travel – 12 tickets per year. This was our last booking with AranGrant. We’ll be sharing this experience widely, across every review platform we can find, and reporting it to the relevant consumer protection bodies. We hope this helps others avoid the same trap. AranGrant – if a Senior Manager would like to discuss this, you know how to reach us.

Terrible Booking

Booking with this agency is not worth the time or money. My trip from Houston, Texas to Funchal, Madeira required three flights totaling 10.5 hrs and similar on the return trip. We only received business class for one segment of 5 hours. Two of the segments on the flights to Fuchal, my wife and I did not have seats together even though booking was done months in advance. The agent said the other two flights did not have business class but that wasn’t true when we boarded, those could have been booked. Our luggage never arrived at our destination and it is two days into our vacation and with multiple airlines, each not being able to account for the whereabouts of our luggage. For the return trip, AranGrant booked flights through Canada with a 10 hour plus layover, so we needed to book a hotel for overnight. The whole trip could have been in the USA with one carrier. Over all this trip is not saving any measurable money and has been a headache from the start. I will not use their service again. Their website shows 4+ star ratings yet every one on this site is 1 star, so they are very deceptive.

BewareofAranGrant

Beware Your Ticket May Not Include A Seat!

I gave 1 star because 0 is not an option. BEWARE YOUR TICKET DOES NOT INCLUDE A SEAT ON THE PLANE!

I gave this company a 2nd chance after buying business class tickets to Italy in July. We got stranded in Canada for 3 days because the travel agent did not book seats for us. Additionally, our luggage was lost for 11 days. There ended up being no savings because it costs a fortune to stay in Canada. However, I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt and did not realize until yesterday she intentionally did not book our seats.

Today, I realized our $18,297 tickets don't come with seats because the travel agent said it’s not her job. (See her email below.) We talked about seats a bunch of times before she took our money. She did order each of us one seat and entered our global number into 1 ticket. Additionally, we may have saved some money from Expedia, but not even close to the $4000 she boasted. AND, Arangrant's package does NOT include airline miles. So all in all, it is unlikely our 2 business class and one economy ticket really saved much since we will be returning 3 more times. I have requested her manager’s number multiple times, but she kept saying she was in Asia and needed to listen to the replays of our conversations before she could give me the information. She also said she would send the conversations to me, but, once she listened to them, she quickly changed her mind. She did tell me extra legroom would cost more. She booked 1 flight with extra legroom, so she knew we needed it. The problem is the same as our Italy trip. She booked our seats on the flight from Pittsburgh to California as we requested with extra legroom and window seats, but left us stranded from California to Australia and on our return flights because it is not her actual duty to do everything else but [selling] a ticket." After spending all that money, I spent the afternoon booking my own seats, paid more money and tried to figure out how to enter our global numbers.

Who ever heard of a travel agent who doesn't book seats or enter global numbers?

Dear,

My actual job is to only provide cheaper deals, everything else that I do extra is just what I do to help my clients. This is not my actual duty to do everything else but selling a ticket.

You saved with me for this trip more than $4000 so I did my job properly.

You cannot be 100% sure about your words that you said 2 months ago, you did not give me a chance to listen to the calls, you started blaming me for nothing.

And I listened to the calls, in the calls I said that extra legroom seats cost money.

Then in the next call you told me that you chose for your son to go in economy and that you will just upgrade his seat to extra legroom. You did not tell me to do this, with all due desire, I wouldn't be able even if I could. Again, all our communication is recorded and I stand by my words.

It is very disrespectful from your side to stand by words that you don't remember 100% that were said.

I tried to help you, I called you during my vacation when I was abroad and I didn't even need to reply to my clients, but I replied to you and called at 4AM my time.

And all I hear from your side are only accusations in which I am not guilty.

During the Italy trip you did not ask me to select any seats for you and you did not select them as well.

As I mentioned this is not my job to do anything extra especially when I was not asked.

After that,

You sent an email asking to select an aisle seat for your son and I replied that I can't do it because it costs money.

Just for your understanding, if our calls weren't recorded with all communication, I would have to cover from my salary $230 for the seat, for the promise that I did not make.

This is a serious and very offensive accusation towards me, a person, who did only things to make your trip easier and MUCH cheaper.

Kind regards,

Please Don't Do It

Learn from my mistakes! Do not use this company! They will be incredibly unhelpful.

Their business class tickets are also deception. They won't give you free luggage, or lounges, so you're really only paying for your seat, not the whole experience.

If you have to contact customer good luck. They didn't return my calls for 3 days, and their support staff were international and couldn't understand my issue. Instead they were agressive and unhelpful and hung up on me multiple times.

Do Not Use This Company

Although I had used AranGrant several times in the past without problems, this last autumn I did have a problem and, I’m an email dated 10/08/2022, they promised to refund me approximately $600. Almost four months later, I have received $0 in refund, and the worst problem is that they do not respond to my emails and just ignore my inquiries.

Greedy Company

A year ago, I've made a reservaion for my family trip to Europe. But the beginning of June, three months before the departure of the trip, the airline notified the the change of my flights and immediately informed the Aran grant of this.I asked the agent to handle my case quickly several times through the chat, and after that, I received a new schedule and accepted it.Then the problem has begun. I did not receive a confirmation email, so I chatted with agents of Aran grant, chat with an airline, and made inquiries on the phone several times, but it was silent. To contact the change team by phone, I received a phone number from the agent saying it is toll-free anywhere in the world and tried to contact them. However, there were several cases where it ended up just waiting for connection, and even if the call was made, it was repeated to wait because my case was on progress. To make matters worse, the phone is toll-free only in the United States and not in other countries. So I complain for that with chatting. After that, I have received a call of apology from an agent in the customer management. I will waive the change fee(50$) instead of the refund of the phone fee, and I received a travel agency coupon (which will never be used in my current situation and grundge). He will proceed my case with quickly, so please wait one more day. And he said he would respond quickly if you contact him by email because free phone calls are not available overseas. At the time, I said thank you and waited quietly with confidence. However, the issuance was never made, and there was no response to the email sent. And a few days later, another person sent me an email about the sudden cancellation of the flight ticket. From the beginning, I earnestly asked for a change because it was a carefully planned family trip from a year ago, and there were lots of non-refundable reservations, so I would go on a trip even if I took the inconvenience, and they said yes.I only chose the itinerary sent by the travel agency, but they talked as if it were the schedule I asked for myself. They said that my change was rejected by the airline because the last segment was operated by same alliance airline, and that I should contact the airline directly. When I contacted the airline directly, Aran grant stopped proceeding with the issue of my tickets, and the airline didn't know the reason, so they asked me to contact the travel agency directly. In addition, I was absurdly asked to tell the travel agency to contact the airline directly.I've checked the cases that occurred at the same airline in a similar situation to mine recently, and almost all of them, including issuance through travel agencies, were changed without any problems. Everyone knows that in this involuntary change, normally the flights can be changed to itinerary operated by the same alliance. Both airline and travel agencies are putting the blame on each other, and no one wants to lose money. I don't know what there is secret understandings between them, but they doesn't care the customers interests and rights.Continue to talk about airline policies and notify me that I have to cancel or make changes at the expense of additional costs.I asked agent to change the last segment in question, but unlike the change team, I got a call from the person in charge of ticket sales immediately. He said it very generously, but eventually he asked me to pay about 2,500 dollars per person, about 7,000 dollars in total. It's double the price I reserved. There is no answer to sending a protest email saying that this is a new reservation, not a change. In the meantime, I know that airline tickets have become very expensive, and it is natural that the main purpose of all companies is profit-seeking. However, it is deplorable that the minimum principle of good faith is abandoned and the reality that customers are just a pushover. There's only a greedy company so blinded by business.I regret that I didn't care even though people around me and people in the travel community advised me not to use travel agencies in situations where there are many variables like these days. Conclusion: Aran grant responds very quickly to new reservations and ticketing and is smooth. However, in the event of a problem caused by a variable, it is a company that only takes time to improvise and eventually fails to keep its promise. There must be some people who have completed a pleasant flight at a good price, but like friends,I think the true value is revealed in hard and difficult times. In that sense, arangrant does not seem to be a faithful friend who sincerely reaches out to a friend who is going through difficult times. I share a little long article in the hope that you will not have the same experience as me and make a careful choice.
