6 Countries Europe Tour
Stay away from COSMOS Tours(Affordable Tours). We were supposed to get 10 day tour. It ended up with only 7.First and last day was for travel and 2nd day in London did not cover any tours. It came out of our pocket as an excursions
Cosmos Tour Leisurely Tuscany And Rome With Sorrento
Our two-week trip with Cosmos to Italy was a bitter disappointment. We did not have a tour guide (only a tour director), and all the travel by bus was in complete silence. We would have most definitely NOT went on such a trip had we been told about that in advance. Italy is a country of profound art and culture with a long and rich history, and we were just sitting on the bus without any comment about the towns we were passing, their history, Italian politics of the old and modern times.
What a loss this trip was. Cosmos had scheduled our itinerary without any regard to our interests or needs. When we would come to a city listed on our itinerary, we would be given a meager 1.5 to 2 hours to wonder around, and on our own. We were unjustifiably rushed through all the places of interest just to come back to our hotel by 4 p.m. All around there were many groups led by their guides, but we were left to our own devices.
In Rome we were placed in three different hotels each time we came there (we started in Rome, went to Montecatino, came back to Rome, went to Sorrento, and were brought back to Rome). Two of them were very far from old Rome, and one of these two was a dilapidated dump. Public transportation to the historic part of Rome was rather poor, and has taken too much of our limited time there. So we were forced to use taxis, which is expensive.
No Rome overview excursion was offered to us by Cosmos. Evidently they think that there is not much to see in Rome. There were two optional trips there for an extra charge, one to Coliseum, and the other to Vatican (which for a change had a guide, and were interesting).
Our visit to Florence was scheduled for May 1 which is a national holiday in Europe, so all the museums and stores were closed. When we were told about that schedule, our group revolted and forced our trip director to change the itinerary, so we could visit Florence on some other day. We did have a guide there at our “optional” trip to Uffizi Gallery, but we were rushed through Florence, and were hardly able to see anything else there. The second leg of our tour from Rome to Sorrento was organized without any regard to the travelers’ needs, wishes or time. Cosmos did not bother finding transportation for us in Rome; to pick us up they have sent out a minivan from Sorrento. So we were stranded in a bad Rome-suburb hotel till noon. We got no guided trips in Sorrento, not even an optional excursion. We were given the wrong information by our tour director that there were no boat trips around Capri at that time of the year. Luckily there were, which we took on our own.
For the Amalfian Coast optional day trip, we were added to another Cosmos group, and this one had a very engaging guide, and we had a wonderful day.
On our return from Sorrento to Rome we were forced to leave at noon though our itinerary stated that we had this day in Sorrento. We were driven to Rome to this remote dump of a hotel by 3 p.m. though the itinerary stated that we would be brought there “for the overnight stay”.
Bad planning, no regard to our time, false information, no guides almost anywhere, two bad hotels (out of five). And do not even ask me about the “optional Tuscan Dinner” which our tour director had persuaded us to attend at his friend’s restaurant - this was a disgrace.
Last year we traveled with Cosmos around Switzerland, and it was a delightful trip, with the tour director who was also a wonderful tour guide, guiding us around, explaining a lot, and never abandoning us, and the hotels were good. It cost us approximately the same there (in a much more expensive country), as this Italian trip has. What has happened to Cosmos? Can they be trusted again? Instead of the advertised guided tour we got a "supervised tour" which should have been significantly less expensive and should have been advertised as such.
Fabulous Customer Service
my partner and i would like to say a massive and heartfelt thank you to cosmos holidays. we booked a two week all inclusive holiday staying at adaaran club rannalhi from november 9th till 23rd. we have been to the maldives in the past and loved it so much we decided to return and try another island. to say we were very disappointed on our arrival at this island would be an understatement!. whilst it was nobody's fault but our own for choosing adarran we didn't feel it necessary to start complaining at reception in front of other guests, instead we telephoned Cosmos, informed them of what we were not happy with and asked to be moved to another island at a cost we would cover. i have to say we were so happy with the help we received from cosmos who liaised with crown tours based in male working together to help move us to olhuveli beach & spa Resort, a resort we can literally call Paradise. we had the most amazing 10 nights there which truly made our holiday very memorable . we where so impressed by the service we received so much so we will definitely be booking our next holiday with cosmos and will thoroughly recommend this company. kind regards carol .
Usa East Coast To West Coast
Wish I had read these reviews before booking with Cosmos. I would not have booked. Not being collected from the airport and then not acknowledging my complaint is demonstrating little respect to customers. Travellers beware.
I Am Disabled(permanent Wheelchair User)my Wife &
I am disabled(Permanent Wheelchair User)My Wife & I recently holidayed with Cosmos to Paphos Cyprus. And without any shadow of doubt I will be recommending Cosmos to all my disabled friends. From start to finish they were fantastic with their service. They took everything into account that I was disabled, from flight to apartment we stayed at in Cyprus.
Thank you very much Cosmos, I am looking forward to your service for next years holiday, I will be definitely booking with you.
Beware Of Changes
Booked an all inclusive holiday to The Auramar Beach Resort (3*) in Albufeira. We had stayed there before so knew that it was literally next to the beach, 10 minutes to the strip and half hour walk to the old town.
Seven weeks before our holiday we received an email informing us that due to an outbreak of sickness we were being moved to the Balai Atlantico (4 star) at no extra cost.
On checking, I found that this hotel was an hours walk inland. As we had booked a beach holiday and were travelling with two children and my mother-in-law who is in her mid 70's I phoned to inform them that this was not an acceptable alternative. I was advised to find a hotel that I considered to be suitable and to phone back and it would be sorted.
There was only one other hotel offered by Cosmos that was all inclusive; the Vila Gale Cerro.
I checked the prices; the Balai Atlantico was £2,800 more expensive than the hotel we had booked, the Vila Gale Cerro £3,100 more expensive.
I phoned back, expecting to have to pay the additional £300; I was informed I would have to cover the full cost of the change in hotel.
I requested to talk to a manager; there was nobody available but somebody would be asked to call me (this was a Wednesday). I phoned again Thursday and was informed my situation was being looked into. Phoned Monday and was informed I would be contacted during that day. Phoned Tuesday to be told I would be contacted within 20 minutes. Bearing in mind that this is not a number that is covered by BT minutes so each phone call was costing me more money, I phoned again an hour later and managed to speak to a manager (though not the one that had been looking at "my problem").
I was informed that they would cover the cost of the move to the Balai Atlantico but I would have to pay to move to a different hotel as I had chosen a 4*. I reminded her that Cosmos were moving me to a 4* hotel at no extra cost but this hotel was not suitable and they were basically removing our right to choice. The response; you have a choice, either go to the hotel we say or pay the full cost of moving.
I again stated my case, she then spoke to the accommodation manager who offered us £50 per person towards changing the hotel.
Needless to say, we cancelled the holiday, booked with another tour company and won't be using Cosmos again.
beware indeed, they dont review hotels
Why Why Why Have You Shafted Us With Small Planet Airlines
No positives. the rest is awful. 12 1/2 delay outbound followed by a 21 hour delay on the return. Awful customer service...sorry no service. An absolute disgrace. Do cosmos have reps???? Do they care, of course they do. Not about customers only profits. Why have you and Thomas Cook shafted us and not even apoligised. Families have travelled hundreds of miles just to reach the airport to be dumped with small planet airlines. HELLO has anyone told them the world is bigger than their inflated ego. Why oh why do we have to be treated like this.
Great Holiday.
Just returned from a week in Tsilvili Zante stayed at the Hotel Mavrikos found this hotel to be good value for money. The rooms were clean, maids came in every day. Lovely pool. Pool bar was fun, with the lady behind the bar in the day and the guy who took over about 4 o'clock. Food was lovely. Special mention for our Cosmos Rep she was excellent full of information and advice and great fun. Would recommend this hotel we are over 50. There were also younger people with families staying and the children loved the pool. We booked late and were thoroughly satisfied with the service we received.
Q&A
I have a generous baggage allowance for the air content of my holiday, [ 2 bags of 32kgs each] but the coach and rail part of my trip only allows 1 bag of 22 kgs. If I take two suitcases and a carry on bag will I be penalised by the company [ Cosmos} operating the land tour? Will they refuse to take my extra bag, or will I have to pay an excess? I need extra clothes to cover cold and hot climates.
I want to take one large and one smaller suitcase as well as a carry on bag. Is this allowed?
Usually for long haul, the check in allowance is 20 kg, some airlines let you take two suitcases if there combined weight is 20kg eg. One at 15kg and one at 5kg. It is best to contact the airline to be sure.
You can still take hand luggage as well.
Happy hols
