Cancellation Policy Doesnt Exist With Imagine Ireland

Cancelled our stay in cottage 54 days in advance of the arrival and got 50 % back of full amount we paid!!! So disappointed!!! We live in 2022 where you get free cancellation policy all other sites even like 2 days in advance. Imagine Ireland definitely not customer friendly!!! Will never use this site again!!!

Imagine Ireland: Disgusting Property, Ruined Holiday.

Three days before travelling was told property of choice had flooded, so offered another 5 miles away. Little choice but to accept. On the day, travelled for 12 hours. Directions given were out of date (based on petrol station that no longer exists) so arrived even later. Bags of rubbish (bottles, tins from past visitors) lined up outside door. Inside, things got worse. Smelly (musty, damp smell) throughout. Dirty (worktops, windows inside & out). Many light bulbs failed. Poorly equipped kitchen, even with basics such as a knife sharp enough to cut through a loaf of bread. Would have been dangerous for children (kitchen appliance with exposed blades in low level cupboard). Too tired to resolve with owner, did a cleaning job ourselves and tried to make the best of it. But disgusted that in the midst of a pandemic a property was presented to us in such a state, clearly having not been cleaned. Response from the company since has been very poor. Will never use this company again.

Imagine Ireland Do Not Care!

property 14960, Kinnagoe Bay, Inishowen Peninsula, Co. Donegal

Booked this property for 3 nights, paid £300 and stayed an hour and half after travelling nearly 3 hours there and the same back. The property was so dirty that it would need a deep clean before we could stay. Imagine Ireland offered me £100 of the £300 I paid and of course I could not accept this as I was not prepared to pay £200 for an hour in a dirty property (not to mention time off work, grocery's, travel costs etc) Fortunately I took loads of photo's of how bad the property was and also how different the property looks from what they advertise on their website. I know the money is not a lot but it is the principal of taking money off hard working people and not providing a descent service. I am doing everything in my power to make imagine Ireland accountable for our ruined holiday. I just wish I had known how poor this company is valued before having to experience it for myself. I hope my review goes some way to helping others and for anyone considering renting this property, don't bother you will be very disappointed. I challenge their Company Director to take these complaints seriously.

Unhelpful And Uncaring - Once They Get Your Money That's It!

We rented a cottage for Imagine Ireland in Spanish Point, County Clare (Property Number 9792). The house was fifty dirty, uncared for, unmaintained, broken showers, broken crockery, dirty saucepans etc. Out of date fire extinguishers (by 13 years) and out of date fire alarm (by 4 years). We did manage to recoup our electricity money of 70 Euro but that wasn't without it's battles. We have been in contact with Imagine Ireland about 5 times about the property and they simply don't do anything productive. The final response came today and basically we can take the matter up with a third party but they feel they've done enough - the sum total of nothing is simply not sufficient. I strongly urge you NOT to use Imagine Ireland - you will not receive any customer care once they've received their money, they immediately refer to contracts and take no responsibility.

It would have been beneficial if I'd read reviews like this before I'd booked the holiday through Imagine Ireland as I'd never have used them.

Ireland is a beautiful country filled with beautiful towns, people, scenery, pubs, beaches and holiday homes but DO NOT book your holiday through Imagine Ireland - they are HOPELESS.

I have had exactly the same experience but I took photo's. I will not stop out of principal until I get a full refund. I am prepared to go to court - it is wrong to take money off people for a job not done, wrong wrong wrong Make sure you put a review on trip advisor too.

We booked a property Imagine Ireland do not hold the owners accountable for poor standards - I cannot understand why they do not do this, you would think repeat business and even positive reviews would be worth more to their business, Maybe watch dog or trading standards is the way to go too.

Please Don't Waste Your Money Or Your Holiday!

Oh my God, please don't use Imagine Holiday Cottages. They are disgusting. The cottage we were put in was filthy, with dirty bedding, mould everywhere, dead creatures on the carpet. This cottage may be fine, but I wouldn't trust the company. They refuses a refund.

Their Director Annette Collins owns the company which operates from the UK. She lives in Ireland. Why don't they operate in Ireland and leave the UK. Rubbish company.

House Ruined Our Holiday

We rented a house in Borrisoleigh in Tipperary. We were a day late as stayed extra night in Clare. We arrived late on the second night to a derelict house, grass, nettles weeded all overgrown. House inside was no better no WiFi as promised or washing machine. The TV we took near an hour to get on then only news and Irish station. Lucky the kids play cards. Our fire pack consisted of one firelight one brickbrack one piece of wood. Half the bulbs blown, the shower tripped on you hardly any water plus some clown decided to put the controls beside were you stand under shower so you kept hitting shower off. got five kids and the house was a disgrace. They had their cars in the drive. Two play areas promised with pond adjoining farm all made up. We stayed only cause I paid so much money and couldn't afford to go anywhere with 5 kids between 6 and 15 years. But we got ate by bed bugs and the fresh bedding and towels we asked for you would not use on a dog the smell was the worst and he also was so kind to bring carpet flea guard. Everyone was itchy, last straw we left. Stressed out I had to booked into a hotel and leave two of my kids with my very ill mum. I was home to see my mum but having to do our hair everyday because of the house I barely got to see her. That house has been booked out to another family, so another holiday will be ruined while the owner drive a 16 car. The photos on the website are not what's going to greet you. Not even the furniture the same. Imagine ireland when was the last time you check your properties. A disgrace to think that a foreign family could think thats what Ireland has to offer. I'm Irish and embarrassed to think people still think that is acceptable in this day and age.

Property Misrepresented And Not Fit For Purpose

Complaint regarding rental property No: 11520, rented from Imagine Ireland Ltd

Castletownshend, View Halloa, Coast Road, Castletownsend, Co. Cork, Ireland

We arrived at this property on Saturday 9th of July 2016, intending to occupy the property for a week. On first impressions the property appeared to be poorly maintained on the outside. The window frames were in poor condition with extensive flaking of paint evident.

On entering the house we were immediately aware of the high levels of dust in the house. Within a few minutes all of us could sense irritation in our nasal passages. There was also an unsanitary smell throughout the house. We subsequently noted that all of the curtains and many of the internal window frames were covered in mould. It is likely that this mould was contributing to the smell in the premises.

It was clear that a proper clean had not taken place at the premises. There were cobwebs on many of the internal window surfaces. There were also cobwebs in the shower and a spider to go with them. We found dog hairs on the bedroom carpet. We also found debris in the window sills, including an old ribbon and a bobbin from someones hair. We also found stains on the bedroom carpet and a pillow case. A serving spoon in the kitchen was found covered in rust.

It was also very concerning to note that the smoke alarm had been disabled and was left in a window sill with no battery in it.

The premises was also misrepresented by Imagine Ireland as a three bedroom house. There are only two bedrooms. A poorly appointed single bed takes up the small landing area, but is in no sense a bedroom.

We contacted the Imagine Ireland emergency line as it was late on Saturday evening. They asked us to go through their procedure whereby the owners agent would be contacted and given an opportunity to rectify the situation. We consented to this. The owner’s agent arrived and told us there was nothing she could do about replacing mouldy curtains at short notice. She did concede that she hadn't cleaned the premises to a high standard. However she reported back to the company that she was happy the premises was cleaned to a good standard. Imagine Ireland offered to re-clean the premises. However we formed the opinion that due to the high levels of dust and mould in the building, it was too unhygienic for us to stay there with our two children for a week. We were of the opinion that the unsanitary nature of the premises gave us no choice but to hand back the keys and go and find alternative accommodation in the area. We were fortunate to find a hostel in Skibbereen with a clean family room. We stayed there for the night.

Imagine Ireland have refused to give us any compensation for this experience and we are left with no alternative but to pursue a claim through the European Small Claims Procedure on the basis that the property is not fit for purpose as a holiday rental due to the high levels of mould and dust in the premises and the fact that it was misrepresented as a three bedroom house, when there are only two bedrooms.

This Cottage Did Not Fulfill Our Requirements.

Markree Castle. Colloney Co Sligo,

I was told that it had TV Wi-Fi hot tub & steam room. I imagined while my husband was catching up on the highlights from the British Open, I would be able to use the hot tub & steam room.

The man who showed us to our cottage said he would be back with the WiFi code. That was after 5pm, the time we were allowed into the cottage.. I never seen him again. The very old TV didn't work, as a matter of fact none of the TV's worked in any building rented out.

On Sunday evening I met another person staying on there, who informed me if I wanted to use the hot tub, I had to ring the man? As it didn't have a phone in the place I found that rather hard to do.

My husband is 73, has a heart problem, while I at 70, with angina, lupus, & mobility problems, found there was no numbers for emergency & no one on the premises for any emergency. I also wondered how these places were inspected. Something I asked Imagine Ireland on my email. But as yet I have not been told. I have worked in Tourism and every place is supposed to have emergency numbers, & the premises have to have 24 hour cover for insurance purposes. I have listed the pro's but I feel I deserve a bit of a refund as I did pay for the missing things too!

I was very disappointed by the email from Imagine Ireland. I have used them a few times, & I am not a moaner for no reason.
