Island Escape Fantastic
we have just returned from a two week stay on the Island Escape from 29/7/14 to 12/8/14, we have had the best time ever, although we did have a small mishap with a wet carpet in our cabin due to a leak on the fresh water pipe, may I say the staff were fantastic they really went the extra mile to help us' they did every thing could for us, we were well impressed well done Island Escape.
We have been on 15 cruises with Thompsons 3 times on the Island Escape.
We would recommend this ship to anyone, the food is very good plenty of choice the entertainment is good both day and night the cruise director works really hard and gets involved with passengers, the ship is really relaxed and puts you at ease, all the staff are really friendly and remembered us from previous trips which is nice, everyone on board are really friendly like one big happy family,we are looking forward to our next cruise with you, thanks for a great time.

Great Holiday
First time being on a cruise and loved it,entertainment was great along with the food and drinks, staff very friendly and bubbly. Didn't even feel like I was on a boat,no rough sea. Cabin was abit cramped but was exceptionally clean and tidy. The ports were fantastic, great views and lovely to visit, one thing I would say as a disadvantage is that the pool was quite small. The island restaurant was my favourite, the beachcomber is also very good and open 24/7,on the boat there is also a gym and spa along with a football court. Would definitely recommend readers to go on this cruise

First Time Cruising, Was A Bit Disappointed On Arr
First time cruising, was a bit disappointed on arrival. Decor is very dated and tired. Paid extra to have a premium room which I would recommend as other people said normal size ones where tiny. Good point was the staff, all were absolutely fab, really friendly and polite. I suppose you get what you pay for. Would try cruising again but not on this ship.

Best Holiday Ever
This was the best holiday I have ever been on. The itinerary was great, we did the organised trip to Rome and Sorrento-Pompa because we were to worried to go in on our own, yes they where a bit expensive but they where well organised and we really enjoyed them, got of in Corsica and Menorca- straight of the boat and into lovely ports. The ship was constantly being cleaned, and so was the food areas. The food was lovely and lots of variety every day. My 14 year old daughter who normally cant wait to come home to her friends didn't want to get of the ship, even though we where going to stay in Majorca for another week. The sail away party's where good. all the venues where great. We really like the pub on an afternoon when it was to hot out side. The staff where great and so friendly, you didn't even need to get you own drinks. The staff are what makes this old ship what it is. Its a really friendly atmosphere and from getting on the ship and of you are made to feel really special. Only trouble is the 2nd week on the all inclusive at the hotel just did match up I think I may have been a bit spoilt by the Island Escape.

Fab Holiday
We sailed on the Island Escape on the 2ndJuly 2013 for one week. This was our best holiday ever. The ship was being cleaned all the time. Food was great and plenty to choose from. Staff were fabulous. Our cabin was cleaned twice a day by a very pleasant and helpful cabin steward named Flaviano. We had our breakfast and lunch in the beachcombers restaurant as you could pop in here anytime that suited us. We had our dinner in the Island restaurant and was served by a very helpful and pleasant waiter every night named Henrique. He couldn't do enough for us.
Entertainment team were a great bunch. Ross the entertainment director is something else- fab, funny, great mover, pleasant, does a first class job. We could have watched him all day. The whole entertainment team work so hard and do a great job.
What else can I say, we will be back.
A SHIP FULL OF HAPPY HARD WORKING CREW AND STAFF. BRILL!

Dont Listen To The Snobs
Went on the Island Escape w/c 09/07/13 for 1week. Did not hear one person complain about food, drinks or anything. I was on this ship 3 years ago and was very surprised at reading some recent reviews and was a bit apprehensive as my mother is a very fussy eater. Breakfast was amazing never went for lunch as at 4pm they serve lovely sandwiches and the dinners were also varied and plentiful. I have been on other ships and yes they offer more selections but for the layout of the ship they do they're best. The ship was always being cleaned. Only thing I would have complained about was the people who think they can go into the dining area's without using the handwash but they were always stopped and asked to use the antibacterial washes. This is a tired old ship if you want 5 star pay the price. The ship is clean food good entertainment staff work tirelessly and put on some great entertainment as for noro virus you can get that anywhere as long as you use the handwashes you will reduce chances of catching anything. People are always quick to complain but never quick to praise.
Having just read your review I would like to respond . My wife and I were on this ship 21/5/13 to 4/6/13 this being our third time and I would not consider myself to be a snob I am a working class person. I totally agree that the entertainment was first class, but unfortunately the food was not warm, people did not always use the hand sanitizer and there was a lot of norovirus about some people very sick and a lot of couples with one person not well and the other doing things on their own. The cabin stewards do a fantastic job but some work is needed in the cabin area especially the toilet, cracked perspex in the shower, shower head split and leaking, soap dish that badly tarnished it could never look clean. If you had been on the ship this fortnight I think you're review would have read totally different,I am glad you had a nice time.

We Were On The Cruise To Celebrate Our 40th Annive
We were on the cruise to celebrate our 40th Anniversary. We certainly won't forget it. 'Tired' looking ship that needs to be taken off Thomson cruise ship list. On the Friday when the ship 'tilted' we were in our cabin, I was thrown off the bed along with the mattress and my husband who had just come out of the shower was flung backwards towards the cabin door. We were both numb with shock and just expected the ship to be on its side in the water. Our concern was that after this event, at no time was a 'roll call' made of the passengers. Surely the weather should have been more of a consideration when sailing from this port as we had already been diverted twice from two of the original destinations on the itinerary for this very reason.

Disappointed But Excursions Were Good
I went on holiday from the 25th of June to the 2nd of July on the Island Escape with my partner. I was disappointed when first entering the cruise ship, it was dated and looked dirty. We headed to the cabin to freshen up before heading around Palma, the cabins were basic but very clean. The aircon was very noisy but it kept us very cool, the housekeeping staff were really helpful, and made sure we were okay after our day of being seasick, we got along great with our cabin stewardess who was very nice and chatty. The staff work extremely hard to make sure everything looks clean in the rooms. I enjoyed the excursions we went to which were great, although one of the tour guides was extremely rude and made me feel uncomfortable, I felt most of the tours were rushed and you never got full days and only a few hours to look around but they were fun and my favourite was Pompei. I didn't eat much on the cruise even though it was all inclusive because I felt sea sick and because of norovirus and bugs going around I felt put off, plus the food was luke warm and was tastless but there was plenty of options to chose from. There was a lot of entertainment which I enjoyed and there was a swimming pool and places to sit and enjoy the sun set and rise. I liked how there were quiet parts of the boat to sit and enjoy the quiet and there were seats around the boat to just sit. I didn't feel like drinking on the holiday as didn't want to make myself even sicker but there was plenty of alcoholic drinks to choose from, all inclusive!. I liked the idea of photos being taken in the morning, and the staff dressed up to take photos with you which made it fun, and they were on sale in evening time. The staff were really friendly, always made you feel welcome and always greeted you with a smile, I feel they were very hardworking and provided good service and treatment. There are many bars and places to eat on board, informal and formal. The captain was really nice, he announced the weather each morning and told us if the sea would be calm or rough and I enjoyed his stories which were funny and his quotes of the day, made the cruise feel much personal.
I think if you are looking for an informal cruise then this is the cruise to go on, its outdated and the food isn't anything special but the entertainment is good and there is a wide range of drinks and you get looked after by staff, the excursions are good and the tour guides spoke very good English and knew a lot about the places we were going. I suggest you book all your excursions either online before you go or on your first day because spaces go fast. I would also recommend keeping your hands clean and keeping good hygiene, and making good use of hand santizers around the ship to avoid becoming ill.I think you should go with an open mind and enjoy yourself, first day at sea maybe rough and you may get seasick so if you are prone to motion sickness take some medicine but I did enjoy myself overall, It was my first cruise and I think I will do another one. I think this cruise is aimed at family and young couples and couples with children as there are different ages that went on this cruise. So overall I think i'd rate it a 5/10 but I am looking forward to my next cruise.
Q&A
I have booked a deluxe balcony cabin, one of the five at the back of the island escape cruise ship and cannot find anything about them. What do they have in them etc?
Do they have a hairdryer? Do they have a fridge?
I would be happy to have any information on them please.
Also I do get sea sick  and I have heard that there is an injection to cure such sickness has anyone heard of this? I have heard it might be available on the ship itself?
