York Railway Station, England

I would like to say thank you to all the helpful staff at York station. My daughter was travelling from London to York to meet her grandmother but her train was delayed for nearly 2 hours by signal failure. My mother (80) had already left home in Knaresborough to travel to the station by Northern Rail to meet her and, as she does not have a mobile, we had no way to contact her. After looking everywhere for a contact number on line I phoned the transport police who gave me the number for York Station. When I explained our problem, they sent someone down to meet my mother's train and told her what had happened. She then had a long wait until my daughter arrived, but members of staff came up to her on several occasions to tell her what was going on and to check she was ok.
