Found The Resort Of Hammamet Dirty And Boy Do The

Found the Resort of Hammamet dirty and boy do the drains need some work. Young tourists reported being offered drugs on the streets at night. Shop and stall keepers rude and hostile if you did not want to buy their over priced tat. Sorry no redeeming features at all. Hotel spacious and quiet located a wee bit away from the center but in walking distance also right on the beach. Staff scarce food and drink very over priced, could do with a bit of TLC. Staff will rip you off so be careful for example, keeping room extra day..... price depended on who was in reception. Would not return to Tunisia. Watch out for pick pockets as well

Have Stayed In Far Better Hotels For Less Than We

Have stayed in far better hotels for less than we paid for this one. Rated as 4 or 5 star depending on where you look...1 or 2 is more accurate. Has been a lovely hotel in the past, but now very run down. There are many listed facilities that no longer operate. Rooms very basic and not cleaned too well.Only 1 bar and 1 restaurant open and both have very poor service and very inflated prices. All add-on services are expensive and prices change depending on what member of staff you ask. The pool and beach areas ae pretty, but also run down and in poor repair.

There is very little to see and do in this area of Hammamet although the Yasmin Hammamet area only 2 miles away is far cleaner (it's also more suited to families)

Booked Through An Agency And Shocked At The Substa

Booked through an agency and shocked at the substandard service. It offers very basic amenities and the staff were very unhelpful. We left after 1hr and went to the Russelsior which is absolutely superb in its own right but the contrast to the awful Dar Hayet was amazing!

I Would Recommend This Hotel To Friends, Family An

I would recommend this hotel to friends, family and people I generally bump in to. I would not stay for more than a week or ten days as there is not a great deal to do once you have seen Hammamet town centre but there are a wide array of tours around Tunisia.

The Dar Hayet Hotel In Hammamet Is A Nice Looking

The Dar Hayet Hotel in Hammamet is a nice looking hotel in an excellent location, and really good value with superb evening meal.

There is no need to take expensive tours as the public transport is frequent, efficient and very cheap, especially the train into Tunis.

Don't be deceived by rooms described as having a 'garden view' - it's a hedge! As soon as you arrive you're asked if you want to upgrade to a sea view room with a balcony (garden view has no balcony). Other people have said that it's definitely worth it, but everyone seems to be given different prices; we were told it would cost £5 per person per night, even though we arrived at 3am, so we declined the extra £70 it would have cost us, which was 13% of the cost of our holiday.

The hotel was particularly let down by those of its staff who threatened your safety rather than guarding it. I was travelling alone with my 14 year old daughter, and while some of the staff, such as the waiters and the female receptionist, did everything they could to make us feel welcome and safe, the night 'security guard' and the timeshare salesman were definitely threatening.

Another word of warning to potential visitors, don't sit on the beach at night out of sight of your hotel. I sat with a friend one night, just a few meters from the hotel, but out of sight round a rocky outcrop and was approached by four men in their teens/20's. I was fortunate that they just chatted to us and I returned to my hotel with no problem, but I later found out that groups of unemployed men wander up and down the beach looking for people in darker areas, away from hotel security and frequently attack and rob them, so be cautious.

In conclusion, this is a nice hotel, in a good location, with excellent food and service in some areas. I am sure it is fine for couples, but women travelling alone, or families with teenage girls, need to be very careful as you cannot assume you are safe even within the boundaries of the hotel.
