Svoronata, Olive Grove Studios

in a few words...Great fun and great people

Have just returned from a 2 week stay here. The apartments are well appointed, sink plugs, shower screen, cooking utensils, storage space and very comfortable beds. The maid service was excellent. Reception was also excellent with the admirable Ivanna always on hand to solve any problems. Our toilet failed to flush one morning, - a word to Ivanna and it was fixed by the afternoon. Swimming pool was maintained every morning. Only criticism was that there were 2 gaps in the paved area around the bar which could have caused problems on an alcohol hazed early evening. We are fairly fit but those with walking impairments should be aware that the nearest beach is about a mile away and the only 'super market' is about half a mile. Both are well worth the walk. Thoroiughly enjoyed our holiday.

Great holiday!!! Read reviews before booking so thought it only fair that I wrote one for others. Wouldnt normally bother but wanted a perfect holiday. Went with my boyfriend we are both under 25 and just wanted something relaxing, not expensive with beautiful beaches and good food and this is just what we got! The staff were amazing, couldnt do more for you. They do a few bar snacks and you can order off a menu from a resturant down the road who deliver it to you free of charge so you can stay in or eat by the pool. I wanted a ham and pineapple pizza which wasnt on the menu and they made it happen for no extra cost!! Great traditional food too. Rooms clean and toilet and shower basic but all you need. You dont need to pack a hair dryer because they provide a free one! Air con and tv in room, although £5 a night for air con.

Clean swimming pools in three different depths for children and beautiful gardens.

Plenty to do and see,we had a hire car for £150 for the week and saw so much of the island but you can book your self on tours and see the island that way. Avoid booking with your rep though and find your self a tour company on the island (they are everywhere) because you will save yourself a 3rd!

Olive Grove Studios are located in a very quite area surrounded by olive groves. It is very good value for money. Staff are very helpful and friendly.

There is air conditioning in rooms but you have to pay 6 euros local charge for each day if you wish to use it.

There is a Bus service to the Capital Argostoli/Lassi Beach at 10.20 which comes back at 14.20. Bus stop is located about quarter of a mile away.

The bus fare is 1.40 euros per person each way.

Taxi fare to Airport and Argostoli is 15 euros for up to 4 passengers.

We have just returned from a fantastic week at Olive Grove Studios, Svoronata. Our son has now decided he wants to move there!

Accomodation - Simple, clean rooms. No sitting room but a large balcony. Take a bottle opener with you (or ask at the bar as I'm sure they'd help). Hot in the evenings unless you have air con (July)

Grounds - Fantastic! Pool even enticed me and I don't swim or normally do pools! Bar is good and seating area spacious, with many chairs / loungers.

Staff - Absoulutley wonderful! Were so friendly !

Area - Easy walk (though unshaded) to the shop (friendly staff). Acropolis Taverna a little past the shop is wonderful (try the Beef Stafado). Greekstones car hire opposite the Taverna is great - Cheaper than Avis by far, no excess to pay and fully insured. Beach is easily reached (a 10 minute walk or a 20-30 minute in another direction. Steep incline to them though.

Very noisey at first due to cricket type creatures in the trees and a cockrel that was confused about the time it woke! A friendly local dog visited too.

Met some lovely people.

All in all, we loved it here and would definately go back (not much choice as we will probably be visiting our son working there in the near future!)

olive grove studios apartments clean and basic, afterall you get what you pay for!staff cant do enough for you, ideal for a get away from it all holiday! car hire would benefit youre holiday although many trips to see the beautiful island can be arranged, thoroughly enjoyed our stay! would return again for a relaxing get away from it all hoiday

Svoronata, The Olive Grove Studios was amazing because it has a very friendly and quiet atmosphere which makes you feel relaxed. We are going again this year for the 9th tme that is how much we enjoy staying here!

My wife and I stayed there for a week 2nd June 2009

The apartments are spacious and very clean and tidy the cleaner Maria cleans every day and changes the linen and towels twice a week.

The apartments have a Hotplate,Fridge and kettle together with cutlery,cups,plates,cooking utensils etc.

Enough for basic self catering

Toilet and Shower are provided and are basic but clean and tidy

Air Conditioning is 6Euro Extra per night we did not need it in

June but Later in the season it would be essential.

The Staff are very very friendly and the Manageress an ex american /greek lady could not do enough for us even lending us a cooler bag when we went cycling.

The Olive Grove is 7km from Argostoli and 2km from the airport

We dont drive and so hired cycles from panbikes in Argostoli at 4Euros a day.

There is a beach within walking distance but the better beaches are 2km from the site so the cycles came in very handy.

The Bus services are pretty Bad there is a bus into Argostoli at 10.20am but the last bus back from Argostoli is 2pm

This makes it impossible to go any distance on the Island without a car or motor scooter but scooter and car hire is

reasonable.

Taxis are expensive 15Euro from Argostoli to the Olive Grove

we negociated with the taxi driver and got it down to 13 Euro

make sure you agree a price before getting in.

Local supermarkets are expensive about 2x UK prices

LIDL just outside of Argostoli is Cheapest

The Best Taverna we found was FOIS music bar where the food was cheaper and the portions better than other Tavernas we tried on the main Road ,FOIS is a 20 min walk along the path

to Ai Helis beach at the rear of the complex

Svorinata is very very quite and if you want something a little more lively than just a relaxing holiday away from it all Lassie would be a better choice.

Kefalonia is a gorgeous Island and we really enjoyed our stay

at The olive Grove and would return tomorrow .

The Standard is quite good roomsare spacious and cleaned

everyday and linen changed twice a week.

The self catering facilities are Electric hot plates,Fridge,Kettle

in each room.

You MUST hire a car or Motor Scooter to see The Island

There is a bus into Argostoli (7Km) at 10.20 am daily but the last bus from Argostoli is at 2 pm ,so you really cannot get anywhere by public transport .Taxis are expensive 15E into Agostoli agree a fixed price with the driver before you get in !

The nearby supermarkets are expensive it is better to go to LIDL in Agostoli.

The best Taverna Is called FOIS music bar a 20 min walk from the Olive Grove food cheaper and the portions are Bigger than the other Tavernas on the main Road.

We hired cycles from Pan bikes in Agostoli to get to the various Beaches which are up to 2Km away .

There is english TV in the bar area.

Faboulous time there it was spacious and delightful and relaxing. However, the air conditioning didn't work. Overall, fab!
