Nidri, Gregoris Rooms and Apartments

We had a lovely stay at the Gregoris and we were so impressed with how well our room was cleaned each day we left a tip for the maid. She had even washed up my babys bottles everyday. Unfortunatly after we checked out of the hotel we were sitting by the pool with the rest of our party who were staying another week when the female owner came out shouting Mr,No! Mr No! We were all a little confused as none of us could understand what was going on or who she was talking to. She went back into the hotel and came back out this time banging a pan and continuing to shout at my partner Mr No Mr No!. We decided it must be a misunderstanding so tryed not to let it bother us-despite the fact that we had just been shouted at infront of all the other guests in the hotel and felt still confused and mostly embarrassed.

We got to the airport when our rep then took us to one side to see if we had stolen a pan or kettle (still a little unsure). We have a b&b bussiness at home and can assure you we do not go on holiday to steal pots or pans. This was very embarrasing and because of this I felt it important to warn others incase this happans to them. A lovely hotel,very clean and quite just such a great shame it was ruined on our last night.

Holiday 31st Aug for 2 weeks, Gregoris Rooms and Apartments were lovely and maids were great, no urtesy room only shower round pool and toilet round pool to wash in. Have to be out of rooms for 10am. Asked to keep room on and was told no room available.

I actually liked it although the owner of the Gregoris Rooms and Apartments could of been happier, he didn't seem to want to talk to people. I have been here 4 times now to the same hotel and I have stayed in the same room twice, the downstairs rooms are rather nice, the room I had was clean. The views were amazing the Taverna's were great and the people in the village/town were very friendly. I enjoyed my holiday very much and would definitely go there again. The only bad point would be the owner !

Good points, location was good, walking distance to near by town. Lots of tavernas and shops to check out. Stunning views of mountins.. Bad points, owner has very poor people skills. Rooms are very Dirty. As for the beds. Not to bad if you don't like to sleep. My daughter tried to sleep, don't know what you would call it, First Choice called it a bed. It was so tired the owner had two mattresses and two blankets between them just to try and balance it. Took all the layers off to find that Out of 50 springs there was 8. As you can guess owner did not care as did not First Choice. First day we arrived at 11pm, Ok that's fine but to be kicked out of the room on the last day at 10am when our flight was supposed to be after 9pm that evening and not having anywhere to go for a shower later that day when the heat is knocking late 35 degrees is not my idea of funny. Be also aware there is Air conditioning, which we purchased for the first week, I turned it off and took the remote back after finding out some people were paying cheaper than us, half way through the second week the owner knocked on our door and demanded the second weeks money for it, I tried to explain we did not have it for the second week but he insisted that is was on, I know when on is on and off is off. Tried to make me pay 40 Euros, had an argument for half an hour over this so please be aware. You will need a torch to walk back in the evenings due to no lighting. Swimming pool is nice although there are more rules than detention centre. No Diving, No inflatables. Not good if you have children,

Having been to Nidri in the middle of May for the last 7 years this was our first time at Gregoris. I cannot overate the place. It is quiet, clean and yet not too far from the beach and shops.

It is by far the nicest accomodation we've stayed in in Nidri.

The family that own it are especially nice but then all the Greeks I've ever met are !

We stayed at the Gregoris Apartments end of August/beginning of September 2007. We changed rooms halfway through (due to last minute booking availability). Our first week was on a 'room only basis' and the second week was in a 'self catering apartment'.

As far as we could make out, the rooms were on the first floor and the apartments were all on the ground floor. All are either 'garden view' (front) or 'pool view' (back). Both of our rooms were at the front. Everything was very clean, and the couple who owned it took great pride in the garden. (They also own and ran the Panorama restaurant). Cleaning is 5 days per week, and linen change twice a week. We had the luxury of seemingly constant hot water which was a pleasant surprise.

'Room only' accommodation was quite small - twin beds wardrobe desk and not a lot else, but fair size balcony. En suite bathroom was toilet, sink and hand-held shower (with a shower curtain!). There was a fridge, a small cooking ring, and an electric kettle, but we couldn't cook as such. However, there is a communal kitchen available for everyone to use - although I don't think anyone did as there are so many places to eat out.

'Self catering' bedroom accommodation was as above but slightly larger, with an old fashioned wooden twin sofa-bed in the second room which also held the kitchen area, (small table, oven, sink and usual basic cooking utensils). It was fine for the two of us, but wouldn't want to share it between four. (Also, we had the middle apartment where there was no window in the bathroom which did make it a bit dark and uninviting).

Pool was a good size, probably 20 x 15 metres, but not suitable for children as it went from 1 to 2.5 metres (8') deep. Access via two "ladders". There was enough room round the outside for loungers, but no bar or entertainment - perfect if you are looking for a quiet holiday. One thing to note re the pool view apartments is that their balconies are on the same level as the pool, and therefore not very private.

The setting is peaceful (ignoring the cockerels and donkey!) but very central. A rough pathway takes you to the main street in a couple of minutes, but this is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems or for pushchairs. It probably takes 5 minutes to walk via the road to the main street. There is no pavement in the main street, and you therefore have to walk in the road, dodging the parked cars, scooters etc etc. However, there were plenty of shops selling everything we needed, including about 6 bakeries which have fresh bread every day including Sunday, and are open all day.

Running parallel to the main street is the harbour front, and most of the tavernas are here. All serve similar menus, but there is an extensive choice, and its lovely to sit looking out over the harbour and bay watching the people and boats coming and going.

The beach is to the north of the harbour, about 10 minutes walk from the apartments. The beach is narrow and shingle, but the water is shallow and warm. Loungers are readily available at 3 euros per day. If you walk to the far end of the beach some of the hotels put loungers at the end of their gardens so you can lie under the pomegranate and olive trees.

If you want a pool bar and loud behaviour this isn't the place for you.

The beach at nidri is not amazing but the food is brilliant and there is a great night time atmosphere. Also most of the people in nidri are lovely and the first choice rep on the island is incredibly helpful.
