I Do Apologise At The Length Of Time It Has Taken

I do apologise at the length of time it has taken me to get in contact but I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for the wonderful time Simon and I had at Glyfada at the beginning of July. The atmosphere at your resort is so relaxed and friendly and provides the most wonderful base for enjoying the quaint charm that is Paxos. I have not visited the Ionian since 2000 and it was great to be back!

Thank you also for your kindness in allowing our friends come to visit. Their girls absolutely loved your pool and it was a great treat for them to be able to use your fabulous facilities.

I wish you all the very best for the rest of the season - you deserve to be fully booked at all times as it is your personalities that make Glyfada such a special place.

Kind Regards Lizzy Noon

Glyfada Beach Villas, Paxos Filth

Glyfada Beach Villas, Paxos

Filthy and Owners who check your bins to make sure your bin is full of excrement and if not, tell you to leave!!!

We had visited here before, 2 years ago, and even though it was basic, which we sort of expected, little did we know how dreadful the whole experience this time was to be!! It has deteriorated beyond our belief!!!

On arrival at the port, Spiros picked us and the other guests up. One lady, however, had to sit on the floor of the minibus driven by Spiros as there were not enough seats!! Surely, he must know how many he was picking up as they were booked into his accommodation! This was dangerous and uncomfortable for the poor woman. Spiros did not even apologise or ask if she minded sitting on the floor!!!!

We arrived to find two very basic rooms. There was no soap to even wash your hands, just dead bugs in the pot where you can place your toothbrush. The shower curtain was mouldy and smelly. I notice on a review some years ago that these basic amenities were provided, however, even though the cost has increased, it is obvious you get less now than then!!!!

The toilet was leaking so bad that our feet were covered in its contents. We told the owner, Spiros, that it was leaking but he accused us of putting toilet paper down it. I didn't know that this would make a toilet leak from the base connected to the floor!! It usually overflows doesn't it!! No, this was owing to the fact that it was not connected to the floor correctly and the seal was therefore leaking!!! As with most things there, there is no upkeep or ongoing maintenance!!!

Yes, we put used toilet paper down the toilet. We are from England, that is what we do!!! You are expected to put it in the small brown bin provided (not even one which you use your foot to open it). No you put it in there via the swing top. The maid then removes it, whilst at the same time, cleaning your room and used drinking glasses (remember they do not supply soap)!!!!!! No, you don't get provided with even a small bar of soap and when I asked Doreen about this, she said, 'No, you don't get soap'!!! looking incredulous that I dared to mention it.

As we complained, yet again, about the leaking toilet, and told him that other places there do allow you to put toilet paper down their toilets and it was only due to the fact that they have spent no money on updating their systems, Spiros told us to leave!!! He said he would reimburse us the amount owed to us for the days outstanding.

We gladly accepted and couldn't get out of there quick enough. At this time, his wife, Doreen, who before this, was an employee, came bounding into our room, saying she would not reimburse us, we had blocked the toilet and wait for it, 'THEY HAD BEEN CHECKING OUR BIN TO CHECK HOW MUCH USED TOILET PAPER HAD BEEN PUT IN THERE EVERY DAY FOR 3 DAYS!!!!!!!'

At this point, I was appalled that our privacy had been so invaded. I wondered whether this was at the same time that, even though you pay extra for the air conditioning, that they enter your room when you are not there to switch it off!!!! No wonder, the room was always boiling, especially the wooden upstairs where you are expected to sleep!!

Anyway, I did call her 'dirty' and a word which I maybe shouldn't have used but being treated in this way when we had paid them was disgusting!!!

She shouted like a banshee, started throwing my clothes out of the room and frightened my two children (good job they weren't any younger like her child)!!!! Poor boy!!!

I have Multiple Sclerosis which I notified her about before our arrival. On arrival, I noticed that the 1 (one) pillow provided which was the size of a slice of medium sliced loaf, was not enough for me as I need much more support with my condition which I explained to her. She looked shocked when I asked for extra pillows and said she didn't know if there were any spare!!!! I returned that afternoon to find 1 (one) pillow shoved in the outer window sill of the villa, covered in dust, webs etc. She said they don't enter your room when you are not in when I questioned her on this!!! How come, they enter to check your faeces bin and to turn off your air conditioning!!!

You are provided with 1 (one) towel each to last from Monday to Thursday when, if you are lucky, you get it replaced!!! No foot towels. though, so be careful when exiting the shower, as the tiles are very slippy!

One other guest asked for a fan and was greeted with a similar response, with the shock of being asked!!! Another guest had to fill their pillow cases with clothes to try and get a little bit more support than the medium sliced loaf I mentioned!!! Probably frightened to ask for another pillow!!!!

Do not allow your children to be on their own upstairs in the studio villas as the wooden barrier is much too low and I had nightmares of one of us falling onto the hard concrete floor below!!! It would never pass our building standards. It came to below my waist at hip level. Please watch your footing if you decide to ignore our advice and go there!!!!

If you don't mind throwing your toilet paper in a bin, your privacy being invaded, being thrown out because you believe this to be unhygienic and totally against anything which you believe in, believe that the customer is paying and so should therefore deserve some kind of respect then don't go!!! After all, you are supposed to be on holiday, not a backpacking trip!!! Although, their toilet facilities are more than likely better!!!

By the way, I forgot how steep it is to get from the lower breakfast area/pool to the room. Definitely not for anyone like me, or anyone, in fact, who is not extremely fit!!!

No doubt, they will respond to this with excuses to try and protect their business!! If I did not believe so strongly in what I have written, I wouldn't waste another single minute of my time, but I do!!

As one other guest said on our return trip back one evening in the minibus (which also seemed too much trouble for Spiros to do with his miserable attitude) 'here we go, back to the army camp'! And yes, I agree with another reviewer, 'be careful you don't upset the owner'!! Very miserable people!!!!

By the way, we are still waiting for our refund!!!!!!

Indeed, stay at home if you don't like different cultures and ways of living. If you can't enjoy a location like Glyfada then you should should be looking at yourself.

Guest

Agree. Some of the comments show great ignorance and insensitivity. Stay at home if you want everything to be like home.

Guest

Excessive use of exclamation marks and under-use of cultural sensitivity.

Stay in England next time and do our reputation a favour.

Cheers

2008 Will Be Our Third Year At Glyfada Beach Villa

2008 will be our third year at Glyfada beach villas and I can never see us going anywhere else. The staff are so helpful and friendly everytime we arrive we feel like we have entered paradise. With comfortable accommodation and the most wonderful location. The views are outstanding. We go outside of school holidays and are almost guaranteed a 'child free' environment, which having had 3 children who are grown up we look forward to holidays with lots of adult company. If you want clear blue sea, no fighting for a sunbed, beautiful views, excellent accommodation and hospitality, come to Glyfada Beach Villas.

We Have Been To Glyfada Beach Villas Twice, Both T

We have been to Glyfada Beach Villas twice, both times in May, when the guests are mostly couples. It is an idyllic island paradise with two private beaches and a lovely swimming pool.

Days are spent alternating between lying on the beach and lazing by the pool.

Renting a scooter helped us to get around the island, and renting a boat is really easy.

We can't recommend it enough.

I Have Been To Glyfada Beach Villas For The Last S

I have been to Glyfada Beach Villas for the last six consecutive years and I undoubtedly will be returning next summer. The beautiful location of the villas on the island of Paxos is one of the reasons why I have been drawn back time and time again, but this is not the only reason.

The villas are located very close to Monodendri Beach, which has extremely clear water. The waters here are only of equal quality in the Caribbean, although Paxos is in Europe and so much more convenient if travelling from within Europe, especially the Uk. The travelling time to Paxos takes less than five hours from the Uk rather than approx. ten hours to the Caribbean, and once you get there you will be amazed at what you see.

On arriving in Glyfada Beach Villas you will see many beautiful olive groves lining the unadopted road to Glyfada. The villas are on a hill, which does require some exercise but as with all things on Paxos there is no rush to get to the top! Once you are at the top however the view is staggering. It is possible to see the Greek mainland on a clear day from Glyfada and the sunsets on Paxos can be breath-taking.

As I have been to the island so often I have established a great network of people that live on Paxos and also return for their holidays. The community is so friendly that even if you haven't been to the island before, you only have to return to the same bar or restaurant on two nights and you will feel like you have been returning year after year. The staff at Glyfada Beach Villas are exceptionally warm and the owner Spiros will go out of his way to ensure that everything is how you want throughout your stay on Paxos.

The swimming pool has transformed Glyfada Beach Villas. The view from the pool is arguably one of the best on Paxos and with the new tennis court for Summer 2004 the facilities at Glyfada are continually improving. The Glyfada Beach villas are simply furnished but this is no bad thing. When you go to Glyfada Beach Villas you cannot expect 'hotel quality furniture and luxuries'. Yes, you are provided with clean sheets and towels as well as soaps and shampoo but you must remember where you are. You are on a Greek island, miles away from the Greek mainland and from Corfu and so it is na ve to expect that the locals will be able to offer you the same luxuries, as you would find at a five star hotel. What they can offer is complete integrity and a passion to ensure that you enjoy your stay on Paxos.

Paxos has been kept a secret for many years and is now just finding the lime light with coverage by the BBC and having been voted a Cultural Village of Europe in 2004. Out of all the locations on Paxos, staying at Glyfada Beach Villas is without a doubt the best! I urge you to visit Paxos for your next holiday and I would recommend booking early!
