Alykes, Lofos Studio

stayed in many apartments in alykes over many years this one rates at the very bottom they hired me the air con for 35euros knowing it did not work there was also sewrage coming up from the grill in the bathroom general housekeeping was very very poor spoke to the owner about our complaint but he did nothing about them he also refused to refund our money for the air con we gave our complaint to the olympic rep and she just shrugged her shoulders on the night of our departure they locked the toilets and left to sit outside until early morning as we had no room to go to also the courtesy room was disgusting i would not shower my dog in it

It needs a really good clean and freshen up. The electric hob was old and rusty could hardly see the numbers. Ideal position for beach and restaurants. But would stay again.

It is a five minute stroll down into the resort which is quiet, has some great restaurants, the best being on the beach away from the sound of the motor bikes and one or two bars.

The Alykes resort is, in essence, one road. To walk from one end of the resort to the other will take you about 10 minutes and that includes stopping to look in shops!

The people were friendly, as they mostly are in Greece, the food was excellent and very reasonable, the weather was fantastic with hardly a cloud in sight.

Depending on what you are looking for, this is an excellent resort. If only the Lofos were not trying to penny pinch quite so much it would have been an outstanding holiday, rather than a very good one.

These are excellent studios let down by a total lack of cleaning.

In the two weeks we were there the pool did not get cleaned once, the filter was turned on for no more than a few hours and that was on a good day! This meant that the water was hardly crystal clear and left you often having to swim among the various wasps and flies that had decided to drown themselves during the night!

The cleaning of the rooms was no better. In two weeks the bathroom was not cleaned at all, it also had to buy your own toilet rolls and the floor got no more than the occasional mop with water.

Apart from that and the fact that the rooms cry out for air conditioning, these are a lovely set of studios, dependent upon which one you get as some have a great view and some face a wall!

One final comment, and it seems that I am moaning all the time, if you are with Olympic, which you will be if you are staying here, ignore what the brochure tells you about transfer times. You will be on the coach anywhere between 90 and 270 minutes. Make sure you have some water with you!
