Qawra, Palace Hotel

We had a marvelous stay in Malta at The Qawra, Palace Hotel. We stayed on the 8th floor and had a lovely sea view. We bought our trip from Low Cost Holidays for a very very good price. We had the Half Board offer.

The Hotel has wonderful interiors, very good service and excellent food , must recommend the hotel restaurant for some exquisite fish dishes.

My only qualm was that You have to buy your drinks for the dining room from the bar just outside as there is no water at the table. We bought a bottle of wine from the bar most nights and used it for the rest of the evening in the ballroom.

The hotel is very well situated for getting around the island as there are modern buses just outside the hotel passing by regularly. If you ask for a day ticket it will cost you only 2.60 E per day and you can travel all over the island! Nearby is Bugiba which is within walking distance of the hotel where there are many bars and restaurants including and irish bar and and elvis one.

I recommend the open top bus trip which costs 15 E and lasts 3 hours. You can hop on and off on the route which is either the north or south of the island. We booked our trip with the Sightseeing rep in the hotel foyer, who was really friendly and helpful, and received a free harbour boat trip which was amazing and it lasted 1 1/2 hours. The war museum in Valetta was very interesting and there are many more places of interest to see such as a trip to the island of Gozo which is very unspoilt.

The hotel has its own coffe shop which is very good, the choice of food and drink was excellent and reasonable.

There is also a library where you could borrow a book for the duration of your stay.

hotel very good on the whole. They are quick to sort out your concerns.Pools both indoor and outdoor good. Food and service in dining room good . Ditto entertainment. However they are quick to try and make extra money on things like kettles and you can only see Sky tv next to the bar. It advertises satellite tv but the only english channel is bbc world.All towels and tv remotes require a deposit.The coffee shop is great with copies of newspapers free and great cakes. Hotel is very clean and in good position in resort. Recommended.
