Cala Saona Hotel

Stayed at Sahona Beach for one week early September, 2010, glad it was'nt two! There is nothing at all to do in the evenings unless you want to pay for taxis every night to go into capital San Francisco. There is quite a good bus service throughout the day which is great for getting around to see the island but most evenings are spent sitting on the terrace playing cards or trying to guess which part of the terrace the evening rat would appear!

The hotel itself is well kept, were warned by the rep not to leave patio doors unlocked during the day as there had been thefts from ground floor rooms, did not expect hotel maid to have a liking for cigars, I know my husband might be passed his prime but he can still count and he was adamant that a tin of his favourites disappeared.

During August and September, the island is host to thousands of Italians, not a problem, but by midday, it was standing room only on most of the beaches.

Having said the above, we made the most of the days, lovely beaches, easy to get around and most evenings we made friends with a couple of jugs of Sangria!

If you want a beach holiday that gives you the feeling of being "away from it all" then Cala Sahona Hotel is the place. There's absolutly nothing much to do other than lounge round the pool or sunbath on the beach. Good conversation with other guests at night on the bar terrace as again thats what you do. Please dont go, leave it all for me me me me me.

Formentera is an Exellent Location for a peacefull holiday although the island is very quiet and might not suit everyone. The ferry crossing can be a bit of a mad rush but its worth it in the end when you reach your destination.
