Great Location. On The Beach. But Definitely Let D

Great location. On the beach. but definitely let down by rooms. Swing a cat.

Thomnsons advsertise bath and shower in superior rooms. Not true. But staff ok and food ok. Only go if happy running against germans for sunbeds in morning and have nothing against swedes showing off EVERY night in the "SHOW".

Entertainment weak. But for what it is supposed to be. It is OK and par for the course.

I Stayed At This Hotel For 2 Weeks In August 2008.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in August 2008. There were 4 adults and 1 child in the group we all had a wonderful holiday. The location is fantastic. The food was better than we expected (previous reviews had been worrying). Our daughter made friends and attended both kids clubs, Thomson and the hotel run club. We would definitely book another holiday here.

Middle Of Oct 2007, Family Of Five 2 Adults Me (18

Middle of Oct 2007, family of five 2 adults me (18years) and my twin sister and my brother (9years old). Don't know where to start we arrived at night so nothing going on first impressions was old fashioned, I had read the hotel reviews before we set off , most being average reviews, we had 2 rooms one in which me and my twin sister stayed and the other my parents and brother, both were damp and uncomfortable. Only sleeps two people and my brother had to sleep on the sofa. Bathroom was dirty and very old, felt dirty after having a shower.

We went half board with Thompson holidays, Food in the hotel was horrible . We went out most nights to eat and only had fruit or toast for breakfast.

Kids club was dead not many children their so this meant they were not running the kids club half the time. Also had age groups, some people we had meet said they were not allowed to have their son and daughter in the same group. This meant none of the children went to kids club.

For me and my twin it was our holiday we had saved up for with our 18th birthday money. Not any clubs or English people to spend time with.

Location was OK had to get a taxi everywhere which cost us double as they would not let 5 in the car and had no people carriers. Bus came regularly, but never stopped as it was full all the time.

Weather was rubbish all 10 days.

Pool was freezing, only the children went in for 10mins at a time. Only good thing about hotel was our view from our rooms, spent most of our time on the beach and in the sea. The Swan Hotel was good for food cheap as well, also posh paddy 10/10 best pub with lovely people and Brian for entertainment was wonderful.

Will not be going back to Alcudia, first and last visit.

Would not recommend going with Thomson to the Condesa De La Bahia.

staff where poor, never around to talk to.

I've Just Returned From A 2 Week Stay At Condesa D

I've just returned from a 2 week stay at Condesa de la Bahia in Majorca. We previously came in June 2004 so we knew what to expect, except we were worried about the situation of the room, and the weather. We were very disappointed with our room, no.265. As soon as we entered our room we could smell the damp, and the ceiling and walls near the door had black mould. (I don't think the sun ever gets around the front side). Having a 5 year old we obviously wanted to move, and I'm happy to say this problem was rectified by a wonderful Thompson rep. We moved to room 347 overlooking the mountains, with a larger bathroom and balcony. The maids came in the morning between 8.30-12, so be warned! I don't think they did that much though, apart from make the beds.

The hotel food was pretty much as I remembered it; the usual fry up, with rolls of cheese and ham, cereal and fruit, and the evening meal a mix of meats, rice or pasta, soup and salad, oh and chips of course! With birthday type cakes, and mousse for dessert. All in all we were pretty well fed and enjoyed the food. There were weekly Spanish and Majorcan themed nights which were wonderful. There was an option of AI also.

The hotel cafe serves toasted sandwiches, baguettes, and burgers etc, with chips. The staff there are on you as soon as you sit down, but very helpful and friendly, also the staff in the restaurant are very pleasant too, especially the greeter on the door.

We didn't use the pool as it was too cold, and my daughter got conjunctivitis last year from it! But who needs to use it when there is a beach that is wonderful only a few steps away. It is very shallow for about 150m, and still warm in October! The weather was a lottery though. The first 2 days were hot and sunny, then the thunder came and the temperature dropped, with 4 days of overcast skies, and light to heavy showers. I don't think we'll be going back at that time of year again, as there is nothing to do when it's rainy, except stay in the room or venture into the public areas, which were full of Germans who looked at us as if we were aliens! It almost bordered on intimidating!

The hotel itself is about 30 years old, and to be honest it looks it, especially the rooms. If they are going to keep their customers, they should seriously give it a lick of paint and new carpets. They should also sort out the leaking roof in reception round the front side, which probably explains why the rooms are damp there!

We didn't see much of the entertainment as my daughter had had enough by 10pm when the main act came on - a bit too late, but I think there was something different on every night, sometimes inside if it was raining, which made the hotel quite claustrophobic.

We had a wonderful trip with Thompson to Marine land (the dolphin park), and my daughter got picked out of the crowd to sit in a boat and be pulled round the pool by 4 dolphins, which really made the holiday. I have to mention the fact that they give a guided tour there and back for a bit of culture, which is a bit of a bonus! The mountain tour sounded quite appealing too! Maybe next time!

All in all, the hotel is what you expect for a 3 star, except the rooms should be updated. We may go back, but there are a few better looking hotels in that area that are begging for our custom!

I Am Going Back To Condesa De La Bahia In June 20

I am going back to Condesa de la Bahia in June 2006 for my fourth trip to the condessa. My parents have taken my family and my sisters family four times in the last 6 years. Their ages have ranged from 1 year to 16 years and the all love it. The beach is brilliant, literally next to the hotel. It is excellent for small children as it shelves very gently. It is lovely sand.

The buffet in the hotel covers a large range of tastes and we have always found the food excellent.

There are plenty of shops are bars nearby to walk to if required. For a small fee you can have a fridge in your room. Ideal to keep the coke cool for the bacardi.

For a great family holiday I cannot fault it. It must be good as I am on my fourth trip.

The Condesa De La Bahia Is In A Perfect Location,

The Condesa de la Bahia is in a perfect location, as suggested in another review taxi's are cheap and air conditioned which is a bonus in the summer heat. The walk into Alcudia is best done first thing in a morning or in the evening along the waters edge - brilliant (road very noisy). We found staff very efficient sometimes a bit brisque but then again they were on the go all the time. We did get short changed in the restaurant but we soon sorted that out!! Rooms were smaller than average and storage could have been better, however I don't spend our hard earned pennies to go on holiday and stay in the room 24/7, it was adequate for the 3 of us. Wonderful views over the bay towards the port (classed as a quiet room away from the pool and entertainment area). The hotel can be noisy as it is built of concrete and marble so noise travels very well! We found the food was ok - they do have to cater for other nationalities - German Spanish and you can't please everybody, but you could usually find something you liked. My daughter is a fussy eater and most days she would eat something. The entertainment was good, some days better than others, the entertainment staff worked very hard, my daughter loved going to the Thomson Kids zone. You have to take into consideration that it is a large package holiday hotel and so you don't get one to one attention or gourmet food and tailor made entertainment.

I Went With A Family Of 6 For 2 Weeks And I Really

I went with a family of 6 for 2 weeks and I really enjoyed this holiday. The Condesa de la Bahia is based directly on the beach and it isn't too far to get to the good clubs. You need to get a taxi which only costs 3-4euros, which is excellent value! I definitely recommend this hotel, and would love to go again! we are even looking to go again before the season is over. 10 stars!

This Was The Second Time My Family Stayed At The C

This was the second time my family stayed at the Condesa de la Bahia. We wanted to return to the hotel mainly because of its location to the beach, the kids club and the local bars and restaurants.

With respect to each of the above we weren't let down, our balcony view was fantastic, we were directly above the poolside restaurant on the 3rd floor, and so had a great view of my son playing by the children's pool and a great view of the beach.

We were unable to view the night time entertainment as a tree blocked our line of site to the tabled area (which wasn't any loss as every night I thought we were part of the Eurovision song contest) the entertainment wasn't what I had remembered back 5 years ago, there seemed to be more of a British bias then and that meant a better entertainment package. In 2004 the hotel entertainers (from Sweden) all had to address the nationalities in there own language which is why I likened the night to Eurovision. They were however very friendly and tried their best.

The room was as expected small and cramped but we knew this before booking. The maid service was first class and even cleaned up after our 7 year old which wasn't expected but made us very grateful. You'll need to take many coat hangers with you as we had a total of 6 and as you're expected to wear trousers to dinner your likely to need them.

The TV was a joke. In this day and age of 500 channels plus all we had were CNN and BBC News. No kids channel and no other entertainment channel although the majority of the guests were British (we are from Wales) the stations were all German and Spanish (why Spanish I don't know) at least with the kids channels available if you wanted to go back to your room for a sleep the children could keep themselves occupied

If like us you have a plug in mosquito killer plus a radio you'll find it hard to reach a power point so if possible get yourself a cheap extension lead from Ikea before you depart the UK. Bathroom was OK although the shower in the bath was old and broken.

Bar service was as you would expect from the Spanish, they seem to forget that tourism is their bread and butter so a friendly smile and polite service is what's expected but rarely given (the language barrier isn't the problem just look at the Greeks, Portuguese, Turkish very friendly people)

The worst part of our holiday was the restaurant. We encountered many a guest unhappy with the menu

Breakfast was the best for me although you only got a good breakfast every other day as the (you can only take hot dog sausage for so long) eggs were scrambled one day and horrible or fried the next and excellent, I spent most of the time with honey on toast.

And forget the cereals, when you pay thousands of pounds for a holiday you don't expect to get the cheapest breakfast cereals on the planet (with warm milk) my son (who's not a good eater anyway) wouldn't eat anything other than marmite toast and we supplied the marmite.

Evening meal I have mixed emotions regarding the evening, ALL of the food was cooked very well, again its just the selection, if your like our family the last thing you want to happen is have a stomach bug while away so because of that thinking we were unable to sample most of the rice, fish, paella type meals available every night which left very little else, The cooked meats didn't look that appetizing either and there is only so many under cooked chips you can force down. Again the children's choice was VERY poor THOMSON should know children's eating habits by now and should have addressed this issue as it was a problem 5 years ago as is today. Suffice to say we ate out most days, what I cannot understand is how small local bars and restaurants can serve great food at a great price but the MAR group of hotels finds this a real problem. And it wasn't just the British eating out most nationalities were unhappy.

The kids club My son gave the club 5 out of ten, he isn't one to want to site and draw in an air-conditioned room for two hours so maybe this wasn't for him. He did enjoy the company of other children and found the Thomson reps really friendly. He did bring back pirate hats and loads of drawings so he must have had some fun, although the 3 video games machines in the hotel lobby area was a bigger pull and drain on our resources, and if you want to keep in touch via email you can make use of the computers in the lobby for a few euros

Over all the holiday was great, the reason it was great was because we new what to expect, we wanted a room overlooking the beach and pool and we got it, we wanted a good base so we could tour Majorca by car and we got it the beach was FANTASTIC as expected and my son and I spent many hours playing on the best beach around. The Thomson reps in the hotel were the best we have come across they put on the best welcome party we have seen and deserve more support from the hotel Mar group. The reps commented that the Spanish tourist board has really got to pick its socks up if it wants to keep us all going back year in year out, there are many holiday destinations offering better service than Majorca these days and at a cheaper price. Majorca hasn't changed the way it does things for many years and even loyal visitors like us will not return until the island learns a few tricks from its competitors

I have also just returned from this hotel on the 15th of July. I thought the food was lovely and the Spanish waiters were great too. The only dinner that I was unhappy with was the Majorcan theme night. The entertainment team were great and always tried their hardest!
