Costa Teguise, Coronas Playa Hotel

One of the best hotels on Lanzarote that myu wife and I have stayed at. Fro the moment you arrive you are looked after by the staff, nothing is too much trouble for the. You are always welcomed with a friendly smile from the receptionists to the cleaners. The hotel is spotless,The food was excelent and entertainment was wonderful. All this and NO CHILDREN. I will keep going back for more. I would definitely recommend this hotel to any couple who want a relaxing break.

Reluctant to go after reading the saga of other guests. It depends on what one wants from a holiday. We enjoyed our stay, don't believe everything people print. We may not come back as we enjoy a different sort of holiday.

We had never been to Lanzarote before and plenty of people told us their horror stories but from the moment we arrived we found everyone so very friendly and the service was excellent.

Always something lovely to eat even though I am a vegetarian. The entertainment catered for almost everyone (Unless you're a bendiorm fan) The room was very very clean and spacious. The best part was the pool area as it had a quiet area and an activity area. We enjoyed the constant breeze and had a lovely holiday. We have booked for this July again.

At last a hotel that ticks all the boxes. My husband and myself really enjoyed our week, came home tanned and relaxed and would not hesitate to book again. Fantastic food, helpful friendly staff, lovely rooms, entertainment every night and Thomson reps were brilliant.

I would not hesitate to go back to the Coronas Playa Hotel again. It is a fantastic holiday experience.

We loved it there because of the laid back atmosphere and the peace and quiet to relax in. There are no children under the age of sixteen in this hotel, so it really is very quiet. I would say that if you are looking for a lively holiday then this hotel would not suit you. Also, although there were the odd few younger, the majority of the age group in this hotel I would say, was about 45 and upwards.

We would certainly go back.

Located about 20 minutes walk from the resort centre, and thus not plagued by the noise of late-night revelries, the hotel is built in the modern low-rise Ziggurat style offering sun on all balconies. Twin rooms are big enough to sleep four people in ample space. They are furnished with superbly firm beds. Bed linen is changed every other day and towels are changed daily. Room televisions offer only CNN as an English language channel when a BBC or Sky channel would better suit the almost entirely British clientele. The hair dryer is in the bathroom and there is a fridge in which you may put your own drinks.

The restaurant is all buffet and offers a very wide choice of food geared towards British tastes with a Spanish option for all meals plus a pasta choice at dinner.

In late September the average age of holidaymakers was over Sixty but they were a very lively lot and many took full advantage of the activities organised by Thomson's "hosts". The Thomson entertainment staff are excellent and even if you don't join in the activities there is plenty of amusement to be had from simply watching. In the daytime, this takes place around one of the hotel's two big pools. The other pool is separated from the first by a line of rooms which provides some sound insulation and is thus fairly quiet.

Facilities are good except that the gym has no view out and is not well-equipped.

If you spend your evening out of your bedroom, whether in the hotel's own Pavilion Bar or off the premises, you will not be disturbed by the noise from excellent the evening entertainment which ends at midnight. If you retire to bed early then you are likely to prefer rooms 220 to 240 (ground floor [garden rooms]), 241 to 262 (garden suites) or rooms 320 to 340 (first floor, better sea views) or 429 to 447 (top floor, even better sea views). Rooms 421 to 425 offer top floor sea views over a pool. Rooms 301 to 316 look towards the sea over the same pool but being lower offer less of a view.

Hotel staff and the Thomson staff are excellent, friendly and offer very good service, reflecting well on their respective employers.

Overall Coronas Playa Hotel is brilliant it is exceptionally clean, very modern the staff are all very helpful in any way they can be. Food is superb entertainment ok, location of hotel is overlooking the sea and is a 5 min walk away from the promenade which then is a 20 min stroll into costa teguise town which is lovely. There are lots of little shops and bars you can go in then you can take a gentle meander back to the hotel by walking round the road way which is well lit and very safe or go back up the prom the choice is yours. My mate and I like it so much we are going again in April 2006.

Having read the reviews for the Coronas Playa Hotel prior to booking our holiday we felt we had made the right decision in booking this holiday due to the level praise it seemed to receive.

However, on arrival found the resort, especially the surrounding area of the hotel, to be pretty poor, hardly any bars especially and it is at least a 20 minute walk to the resort centre!

The beds are extremely uncomfortable, never slept on such a hard bed in my life!

Food generally is okay as always hot and plenty of it, however, meat was rather fatty/grissly.

The weather although hot, was extremely windy - which got rather annoying - was glad only there for a week.

All in all I would not really recommend Costa Teguise to anyone, although the hotel was okay!
