Needs Some Attention
The children's entertainers were great, in particular the guysI dealt with . You could tell one especially loved her job, and our boys thoroughly enjoyed dancing and playing games.
We stayed in the Manor house, the bathroom had recently been modernised and the apartment was a good size but it was dated and needed some attention. The heater in the lounge had come off of its bracket, the handle on the bedroom drawer had fallen off, the top of the taps in the kitchen were missing. This was true of most of the site, not many of the machines in the small amusement arcade worked, there was no electric in the coach house where they had a pool table and table tennis tables etc.
That said we got our short break at a great price so the entertainment more than covered that.
Not Even Worth A Star!! (i Had To Add 1 To Post My Comment!)
I'm going to keep this brief as I would only be repeating every word of the other comments I've found about this dive. Only thing good about this experience was the food and the days out we took AWAY from the hole we were staying in. The place needs demolishing and is genuinely a health and safety hazard. I've lived in better conditions in Iraq and we were getting shot at. Which leads me on to say what a joke that this was rated four stars!!!! Quiet possible if it was in a bloody third world country!! Stay away!!!

Perfect Holiday
Just came back from a Easter break at Michealstow, absolutely loved it from start to finish, accommodation was great, entertainment was excellent, food was lovely, very friendly staff, the effort the entertainment team put in is fantastic, we have been there 4 times now and we will continue to go, hopefully again this summer. Love it!

An Utter Disgrace
Please avoid this place , our chalet / dump / mould experiment was the worst accommodation possible , stinking of mould , mould growing in large quantities , dirty carpets , mattresses felt like torture devices , manageress completely uncaring . The place is disgusting apart from the food .

Holiday From Hell Michelstow Holiday Park
my husband myself and two friends and their two children arrived from Eastbourne at 8.00am and was told to come back at twelve as accommodation was not ready we returned at twelve then to be told that we could not get in to accommodation until 4.00pm we then explained that we were told twelve and that we had two young children one being 18months old and needing a much needed change of nappy and a bottle and that problem was sorted out after much pleading we then arrived at our accommodation which was called manor bungalow it was more of a square box something out of hi-di-hi there were 4 adults and the two children with only one chair and two seated sofa so after a long journey one adult had to sit on a hard dining chair and the children on our knees as the carpet floor was filthy and stained and damp the word abysmal does not even explain how terrible it was the whole place was damp and smelled musky I then went to make a cup of tea and the mugs had deep tea stains and the plates had encrusted food on them and tea stained teaspoons I saw two members of staff walking by[cleaning staff]and I asked them if this was the manor bungalow and they apologised as they did not speak English and they were very helpful in sending someone over who did speak English after he had finished his conversation with his friends I asked him to come in and showed him the plates cups and spoons and he shrugged his shoulders and said well they can be washed and the place was filled with wasps and he said what do you expect in a place like this and just went now onto the bathroom the bath was filthy and damp the shower [which was a hand held shower hung up]was all rusty and there was[dry encrusted snot!] on the toilet wall the main bedroom was damp and the bed was as hard as nails the bedroom with the twin beds was so small only one adult could fit in if the children were to wake at night my husband and friend took one of the children swimming [6year old] in the indoor [HEATED SWIMMING POOL]what a joke they got in and it was freezing they had to take the little girl out as her lips were blue and she was shivering most of the amusements were broke and the bar area was dirty and dingy oh and the double bed sofa was broken and the foam showing and we found two dead spiders in it we took the children out and my friend rang hoseseasons and they said we had to get back and speak to the manager at reception we went in there when we got back at 7.15pm and spoke to the same man that came to the chalet that afternoon as he was working behind the bar we asked to speak to the manager and he said that she was not available and to come back in the morning my friend said that this was not acceptable and that we needed to talk to her he asked what we wanted and we told him our complaints and concerns and he said he coul do nothing I then asked if he was the deputy manager and he said no I then said that we must be able to talk to the manager or deputy manager in this sort of situation or if there was an emergency and he said to go away and come back at eight he would ring her to come down to see us we went back at eight and he said she wasn't coming down and there was nothing he could do about it we then went back to the accommodation collected our stuff with two very upset children and left so twelve and a half hours later of being in this hovel we were going home when we got home my friends husband then rang hoseseason to complain they said that the manager came down to talk to us and that was a down and outright lie and that we left on our own accord when I got home I had four flea bites as well this so called holiday park is a hovel and I am writing this so some poor person or persons do not book a holiday here I cannot believe that hoseseasons would want their name associated with this park if you want a holiday from hell then you are within your rights to ignore this review but my advise would be [PLEASE I BEG OF YOU DO NOT STAY HERE.]

It Is What It Is!!
After other reviews I was dreading arrival for Half Term break.
Friendly reception, and a Bungalow that smelt so clean, the products used were apparent by the odor.
Yes it was cold, and £1 metre needed to be loaded before heaters made it warm & cosy.It had all that we needed. It was not sold as a Winter style accomidation so condensation on standard glazed windows and coldness to walls was to be expected.
It is what it is and if you expect to much you will not be happy, but if you understand you will get what you pay for then this is a good base.
Why complain... you make the choice... live with the decission
We did and got what we paid for... a budget priced break

Please.... Don't Ever Go....
WASTE OF MONEY!! the accomadation is smelly, dirty, damp and old, bed linen had holes and the bed was uncomfortable, it is literally in the middle of nowhere up long bendy lanes, hope ur good at reversing cos the lanes are only wide enough for one car, driving along them everyday was making my partner feel ill, we had to drive aleast 1 or 2 hrs to attractions. The swimming pool was so cold i turned "blue" in a dirty greenhouse type building to keep it sheltered. There is no "childrens" arcade, there is one old pool table dominated by older kids cos there nothing to do. crazy golf ?? what those things with leaves in the holes that were in the 10' by 10' yard! i spent a fortune and had the worst holiday. i will however say the staff were nice and friendly and the entertainment in the night was good. but ACCOMADATION AND FACILITIES WERE ABSOLUTELY APPALLING!

Going Back Again
Iv lost count of how many times iv chosen to take my holidays here. For the past 8 years iv taken my children, family and friends as well as recommended it to others.
What has always appealed to me about Michaelstow is the fact its so family orientated, run by an ordinary family like us (apart from the fact they live in this beautiful manor house with its wonderful grounds which i envy). Yes the accomodation is basic, but it is comfortable and everything you need is there. You cannot fault the staff for trying so hard to cater for everyone. The grounds are so well maintained, just stop and look at those beautiful old trees. Have you ever explored the nearby beauty spots on the moors? The manor house is really beautiful, i would love to know more of its history. My kids and i sit telling each other ghost stories in the grounds and have such a laugh encouraging each other to make up stories. Have you noticed that stained glass window in the bar, this place holds so much history.
Iv heard people complain about lack of changing rooms in the pool, yes it was strange to us at first as well, but now its a standing joke about going back to the bungalow from the pool, specialy when its raining, we laugh about it because were on holiday and we go on holiday to have fun, make the best of every moment and go home with more happy memories of Michaelstow manor and the lovely people i always seem to meet there.
We all expect different standards from our holidays. If i was paying for the ritz then id expect ritz standards, but im sure it wouldnt be half as much fun as Michaelstow. Cant wait to be back there again.

Do Not Go
I have come back from the park today me and my family had the worst holiday ever. on arrival we had to wait 1 hour for our room to be CLEANED and when we got into our room i was mortified from the outside they dont look great but inside was dirty, smelly, and our room had a flea infestation. There was cobwebs everwhere, hair down the plug in the bath, fleas everywhere which adventually we got moved to a new appartment which was no better my poor dog had been bitten and her skin had flaired up so i had to go and spend £40 for flea stuff not just for her but the appartments. The seats, beds, carpets where filthy stains everywhere, the room smelt ov stale pee and flys and bugs living everywhere not sutable for any one to stay in we never got any sleep and stayed out all day everyday. The swimming pool has no changing rooms or showers so u have to walk back wet, it was green and cold but they state it is heated HA. The drinks in the bar are very highly priced but the food is cheap not a good selection but if ure staeving u will eat it. This is meant to be a 4 star but i wouldnt even class it as a 1 star i would rather sleep out in a pig farm its probably cleaner and smells better DO NOT GO TO MICHAELSTOW MANOR!
That was the first hour we was there 1. my dog had not been out of the car 2. she was bathed and flead by the vet the day before 3. we had been told the man in the appartment previous to us had to take his dog to the vets because of a flea infestation 3. you could see the fleas in the carpet 4. within the half hour we was there i no fleas cant spread and hatch within that time scale to the ammount there was. 5. the food we had was not great 6. out ov all the reviews how come most ov them are poor everybody that we spoke to onsite was leaving early and complaining if this is your ideal holiday then it dosent say much about yourselfs, when i go on holiday i want the apartment to be liveable thankyou!
The food on offer is basic bar food, but i have to say, being vegetarian the cook went out of her way to do something different for me that wasnt on the menu with no fuss whatsoever. I was also reassured to know the food was fried in veg oil. Im a total food snob but had no problems when we ate at the resturant. As for fleas, your dog may have bought them in from outside. You are on the moors, your dog may have been exposed to forms of wildlife that she dosnt usualy encounter. Flies and bugs do live everywhere, yes, they are a valuable part of our eco structure.
