We Wanted To Find Accommodation In Florida Which W
We wanted to find accommodation in Florida which would be near the attractions but also away enough that it would not be too busy, full of children & had the ability to relax at the hotel, by a pool when we didn't want to be doing any of the parks. Champions World Resort was great for this. It is only 3.5 miles from Disney & they provide a free shuttle to Magic Kingdom & Epicot. It is a fair distance to Universal Studios & a costly taxi journey but the hotel provides another shuttle (for $15 return) to Universal Studios & Seaworld.
There is a bus route on the road right outside the resort (Lynx 55) which is a 4 minute journey to Walmart in 1 direction (rooms have a fridge & microwave if requested so if you prefer to self cater this is possible) & in the other direction is plenty of restaurants & gift shops. You can also take the bus to the posh town of Celebration. We chose to use the buses to get to Seaworld (3 Lynx buses 55, 56 & 50 for just $4.50 for a day pass) & they were easy to use & a cheap way of travelling.
The resort has 3 pools (2 outdoor uncovered, plus 1 outdoor covered & heated pool) & there was always free sunbeds, a convenience store but also a 7/11 just a 2 minute walk from resort, restaurant on site as well as being close to many others. There is also a games room. There is apparently also a fitness room which we did not seek out & many sports facilities but not sure on their use either. We were upgraded to a pool side room which was very spacious.
I recommend this resort for those wanting a cheaper, more quiet holiday in Orlando but who also wants to be within fairly easy reach of the parks (best for the Disney Parks, not so easy for the International Drive attractions). If you're looking for luxury this isn't for you but is definitely good value for money.
