We Had A Marvelous Ski Vacation In Passo Tonale In

We had a marvelous ski vacation in Passo Tonale in January 2004. They have snow-cannons, so it is actually guaranteed that they will have some snow. The days were sunny however cold, you need sunglasses and warm clothes are a must. The slopes are not far and there is plenty of room for everyone, they are not too overcrowded. It can however be rather windy and icy perhaps as low as -10 degrees. There was no queues at the lifts either. The selection of the red and blue pistes was great but there was only two black runs. For those, who want a little more of a challenge, the ski pass gives you access to the entire skiing area, so you can go and ski on Madonna di Campiglio next door as well, which a little more cosmopolitan. Shopping was not so good, therefore I did not expect to find many new things. Apres-ski revolves around 3 or 4 bars, they are however very good, except when the Italians start to sing karaoke. On the whole, a great place for beginners and intermediates. We will definitely be going again.

We Arrived At The Flora Alpina On New Years Eve 20

We arrived at the Flora Alpina on New Years Eve 2005, and for dinner we enjoyed a fantastic 12 course meal with wine (although this did go on until after midnight, and we had left home a 4.00am that morning). The food was really good. There was a choice of starter, main course and desert, and the menu was translated into English and left on your table at breakfast with a pen so that you could make your choice for the evening. Everything was prepared freshly and tasted great. There was a decent wine menu as well.

The Hotel has mainly Italian guests, but they were all very friendly. The rooms were extremely clean, comfortable and well looked after, and the view from the balcony was breathtaking.

There was a small bar in the hotel, and we did have a glass or two of wine in there one night, but it is mainly used for drinking coffee, playing cards, and for the children to draw/colour. The Al Canntuccio bar next door to the hotel was excellent, and we ate there most lunchtimes, and also had a drink there in the evening.

There was a heated boot room, and plenty of racks for skis/boards with direct access outside (and a lift back up to your room floor for when you returned, which was very welcome).

I would definitely recommend the Flora Alpina if you were looking for excellent accommodation and food right next to the slopes.

We Stayed At The Hotel Locanda Locatori About 1 Km

We stayed at the hotel Locanda Locatori about 1 km from the town centre. The hotel was wonderful and staff, especially Alessandro, very helpful. Skiing was excellent for beginners and intermediates on wide, uncrowded pistes. There were virtually no queues, especially after 11 a.m. The Italians are welcoming and lovely people - not dour as our rep described them! Passo Tonale is a great resort - so good in our opinion that we have already booked our next ski holiday there.

Great Holiday In Passo Tonale January 2004. This I

Great holiday in Passo Tonale January 2004. This is a very high, snow-sure resort, so make sure you go prepared. Every day was sunny, but cold, so full face masks and thermals are useful. Excellent ski school in resort with very good English-speaking staff. Runs on the whole are wide, sunny and not overcrowded, though they can become windy and icy in the afternoons due to the cold temperatures (-10C when we were there!). Lift queues were non-existent. Excellent selection of blues and reds, although only 2 blacks in the whole resort. For those who prefer more of a challenge, full area passes offer the chance to ski at Madonna di Campiglio next door - a much more "cosmopolitan" resort. Shopping was not great, so don't go expecting to buy loads of new kit. Apres ski concentrates on 3 or 4 bars only, but these are good fun (except when the italians get on the karaoke). All in all an excellent resorts for beginners to intermediates. We will definitely go back.
