Very disappointing. They only confirm that I have received email that "This e-mail is your booking confirmation. You will receive your ticket(s) in a separate e-mail by Tuesday 26 February 2019 at the latest." When I spoke to the person after 45 min. wait, he informed me that we cannot guarantee that your ticket will be issued after 26/02/2019. There is a possibility that you may have to buy new ticket if your ticket is not available!!!
I request to cancel the ticket & refund the money, he informed me that they will charge 10% of the transaction value or Euro 45 for each passenger.
DO NOT TRUST THE EMAIL. I Went through other people's review and most of them were out of pocket after paying extra more than £100
Wow!!
We just got back from Iceland...the trip itself was great but what made it even better were our amazing tour guides! Very nice and informative and because we were only a group of 13 we all really got to know each other. Our tour guides took interest in us and asked about our experiences daily when we were not with them. We went out to see the northern lights which i knew we would be lucky if we saw them....our tour guides would not give up in our quest to find that opening! We stopped in different areas and kept circling to find the best spot for us. They were so excited to watch us see this for the first time. All of our guides cared about giving us the best experiences, we were so impressed. As far as booking, they were friendly and answered all my questions. I also liked receiving the detailed itineray packet with all our documents, made everything very easy. Surprised to see some of the negative reviews on here. Will def look to book with these guys again in the future
Rude Customer Service
I would like to make change for my exiting reservation and the customer service agent was rude to me who has already paid the trip. They do not value the customer and just wanna to cheat someone to buy their terrible trip package. I definitely not to book the trip or doing business with them. So horrible and terrible.
Gate 1 Travel - Machu Picchu/ Cusco/lima
Although Machu Picchu was awe-inspiring, this is a review of the tour company called GATE1.
GATE1 uses local people for their tour guides to Machu Picchu/Cusco/Lima tours. Raul F.B.C.was my specific guide. He was terrible. A local, uneducated native that is completely incompetent. His explanations were disorganized, long-winded and filled with personal opinions and religious superstitions that he imposes onto his guests. He believes that Western society has destined his people to a life of poverty and hopelessness that they can never recover from. He is constantly asking for tips to help overcome the poverty. In addition, he is slow and disorganized; for example, he spent 20 minutes counting the train tickets repeatedly, over and over again while we all waited to get in the line to take the bus to Machu Picchu. He gets side-tracked and rambles on subjects that have nothing to do with the original topic. He spends too much time talking to friends that he sees around town. He spends too much time pushing his personal friends businesses onto his tour groups. He gets overly emotional and passionate about what he believes as if he were giving a speech from a Shakespeare production, this sometimes includes tapping on objects in museums, etc. He does not keep up with current events nor does he have an adequate knowledge base for current events. Also, he will does not believe in honoring any request/deviations made by guests as he believes that everyone is "chosen" to be in the place that the universe has currently given to them. This guy needs to be retired.
Thailand Was Fantastic!
My sister and I had travelled solo before and weren't sure if we'd like traveling with a tour group, but we loved it. The price of the tour was extremely competitive which was important to us. There was a perfect blend of free time and guided tours (definitely book your tours ahead of time if you can). We got a great overview of the country and all the hotels we stayed at were great and Udom was a fantastic guide - full of tons of history & facts.

Making You Think You Have Reserved Seats...
While making the reservation we could reserve seats. We knew that the seats we had chosen where more expesive and so we made reservations... AT least that's what we thought... When I was checking in via the carriers site, I found out that we had to pay extra for these seats. This is not wat they tell you at gate 1. They just give you the impression of having reserved and payed seats (also because it's on your confirmation), but in reality you still have to pay extra. This is misleading the consumer!!
Peru Tour
Edgard was absolutely fabulous on this tour! He was extremely knowledgeable and caring which made the adventures through Peru very exciting and memorable. Macchu Picchu was definitely the highlight on this tour but Gate 1 found terrific places to stay along the way and interesting sights to see. We experienced a wonderful "flavour" of Peru. The Peruvians are friendly and welcoming and add a great deal of "local colour" to our pictures. One part of the tour that we particularly liked was tasting the foods of Peru - all was organically grown and tasty, including the Guinea Pig! Thanks Gate 1 for making this such a spectacular trip!
Bed Bugs
My mother and I just returned from the 8-day French Riviera trip with Gate 1. We began to feel very uncomfortable and itchy during our plane ride home. Upon arriving home, we went straight to another family member who is a doctor and were diagnosed with bed bug bites all over our bodies. I have since reached out to the hotels we stayed at as well as Gate 1 management, and no party is willing to take any responsibility for this. The hotels claim that their hotels do not have any bed bugs and Gate 1 basically told me they couldn't do anything because we hadn't reported anything to the hotel management while we were there. I was really offended by the lack of compassion and understanding as to how miserable this post-tour experience has been. It's nice to know that by pay up front Gate 1 really means there is a time limit as to when they will stop caring/taking responsibility for whatever happens while you are on a tour with them. My mother and I are still recovering over a week later. I will never forget this memory and I have the scars all over my body to prove it.
Gate 1 Travel
Just got back from the 11 day Central Europe tour with Gate1. I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed the whole experience. Our guide Derek was very knowledable, helpful and funny and the local guides were also. Also, I have to say our driver, Richard, was amazing getting the bus in and around some of the tight places he did. The hotels were conveniently located and decent rooms. Overall I cannot wait to be able to take another Gate 1 trip.
Value For Money
Very Dissatified With Gate1. Six Members Of My Fa
VERY DISSATIFIED with Gate1. Six members of my family booked a tour of Israel and Egypt with Gate1 before the violence broke out. The trip is scheduled to depart in only four weeks and the political situation continues to deteriorate, but Gate1 has not cancelled the trip, nor will it allow its customers to apply the deposit to a different Gate1 trip. It appears that Gate1 is hoping my family will forfeit the $2,400 deposit rather than go through with a vacation in a war zone. I'll post an updated review of Gate1 if its position changes, but that doesn't appear to be likely.
had same issue with israel. travelled with go ahead tours and they let us use our deposit for a trip anywhere within 1 calendar year. shame on gate 1
