Would Not Recommend

There are numerous reasons I would not recommend or use Easirent again:

1. Poor travel to and from the airport. Waited over 35 mins to be picked up.

2. Do not inform you that you will need proof of address, national insurance number and bank statement to hire car.

3. Lack of staff means the queue was over 1 hour long to be seen and sign documents. Further impacted by point number 2.

4. The Dublin branch requires you pay a €10 admin fee for going through M5 toll, when the toll itself only costs €2. This was non negotiable and staff were rude when challenged.

5. They tried to sell more insurance despite having paid for full coverage through broke website (discover cars)

However the drop off was much easier than pick up and only took 10 minutes

Good!

Smooth rental when you book on their website! Staffs are friendly but you need to travel with free shuttle to the rental place.

Don't Honour Their Own Commitments, Do Not Use

The poor experience of others here with Easirent is similar to mine.

They said that as we had booked through an American website we had to pay extra insurance. I'm not American and there's nothing on their website to say non-Americans through an American website have to pay this

They outright lied about what vehicles they had (and later admitted it, in writing).

They refused to honour their own commitment about a cap on extra driver charges on the basis they weren't bound by what their own website people had committed to.

Their basic strategy is to get you out to a lonely industrial estate away from any help or alternative, then blackmail you by threatening to cancel the booking. They have a well worn routine where if you get even slightly annoyed they immediately threaten to call the police.

Another reviewer mentioned one of the counter people wanting to talk about anything except the booking. That was probably the same guy we had who regaled us with tedious stories. He clearly loves his job because it's the only way the sad little man can force anyone to have to listen to him. He was also clearly on a major power trip knowing we had to sign up or ruin our holiday, and loving every minute of it.

Easirent Vehicle Hire - Florida

In May this year I visited Florida with my family after pre-purchasing a hire car from Easirent via Discover Cars. After picking the car up which had a heavy interior cigarette odour, we drove on day 9 to Busch Gardens in Tampa which was about 1.5 hours drive from our resort. During this visit the car key was lost but didn't notice this until we were leaving late in the evening. In somewhat of a panic, I reported it to the lost and found team at Busch Gardens and then contacted Easirent in Orlando for help. To my dismay they didn't want to know and told us we needed to sort it out ourselves and didn't feel any duty of care to our predicament. They suggested that we contact a locksmith ourselves or have the care recovered back to Orlando but we would need to arrange that.

Faced with this and having few options, I ordered a taxi back to our resort and the key was found the following day in Busch Gardens and we returned by taxi to get it and recover the car.

In my opinion the behaviour of Easirent Orlando was nothing less that deplorable in respect of my family's predicament and I will never risk my family's safety and wellbeing again by using them.

I have also contacted Easirent UK about this and they also don't appear to give much consideration to the duty of care element as being an integral part of there service offering.

Avoid At All Costs - There Are Plenty Of Alternative Hire Co

Don't make the same mistake as I did and hire from this dreadful company.

I hired a car 3 weeks ago, firstly it took 45 minutes to get the car picked up ( not a one-off as the gentleman in front of me had been there for an hour. ).

The 'checklist' filled out by their operative had everything checked to say it had been 'thoroughly' checked over. ( Their version of 'thoroughly' may differ somewhat to yours...)

On the Edinburgh City Bypass on the way home, I tried to clean the windows...but the bottle was bone-dry...despite the checklist saying it was full.

Obviously I was starting to lose faith in the 'thoroughness' of the checking.

I didn't think to check the roadworthiness of a vehicle I'd paid for - silly me? ( In hindsight, maybe I should've checked the insurance and tax too... )

On phoning the optimistically named 'customer service' on arriving home - this time I managed managed to get through in only 30 minutes - I reported this, and also that the car stank of smoke.

It would appear that this wasn't noted....

I returned the car a day early... having filled up the windscreen bottle... so returned it in better condition than it had been hired to me.

Two weeks later out of the blue, having had zero contact from Easirent, I received a call from a debt-collection agency looking for £360 !!

Apparently, there was damage to one of the tyres. Not when I left it there wasn't...

But if you have been unlucky enough to hire from this lot... PLEASE take photos of everything when you leave so they can't make up anything to yous they have to me

There wasn't....and let's face it, if it was the same 'thorough' employee that checked it on the way out, I'd be amazed if he/she was even looking at the right car.

The debt collector said they'd look into it so I thought I'd call Easirent myself and see where the mistake was.

After nearly an hour a lady, who claimed to be a manager, finally picked up the phone.

She said that their policy was that if there was damage they would contact the customer, and then if they were unable to resolve with the customer they would then pass to the debt collection agency.

She also said that every vehicle was thoroughly checked before and after every hire... Really? Are you sure?

She also inferred that it was my responsibility according to DVLA to assure the roadworthiness of a vehicle... I had naively accepted the checklist from the 'thorough' employee...

They haven't even followed their own policies, and even putting to one side the fact that there was no damage ( and the car was actually MORE roadworthy when I brought it back )... if someone could please tell me where they buy their tyres...

Fiat 500 tyres are available for around £50 fitted... Blackcircles are great by the way Easirent... 7 times cheaper than where you get yours from ( just trying to help )

Easirent make up a figure of £360 for ONE TYRE!!

Notwithstanding this...as above, there was zero damage to the car, and clearly Easirent who don't even follow their own policy of contacting the customer, are just out to sham anyone they can

I'm not one for leaving reviews just for the sake of it, but companies acting like this need to be stopped

Unethical

While in the US before traveling to the UK, I rented a vehicle through Easirent. Studying the terms carefully, it clearly indicated that insurance was included. We paid 791.34GBP ($1,057.21). However, when I arrived in Manchester, UK I was informed that I would have to pay an additional 957 GBP ($1,278.53) for insurance. When I pointed out that the rental included the insurance, I got some vague explanation. It was indicated though that this would be refunded if I return the vehicle undamaged - which I did even though the car I was loaned had dents, dings, and scratches on almost every panel and bumper. When I returned the car I tried to reason with the manager. He said that if I could provide proof that insurance was included then he would issue a refund. I did not have to screenshot with me but had someone back in the US do a rental inquiry and they sent me that screenshot and it clearly showed that insurance was indeed included. When I sent this attachment to the manager I heard absolutely nothing back. I then tried to go through their customer service and learned earlier today that they will not give me a refund due to the car rental being closed. So, it seems they take advantage of the unsuspecting foreign traveler. What are you going to do? You have already paid a large sum, feel almost certain you will get the addition fee back only to find out otherwise and then what? They already have you over a barrel. It seems unethical at best. This is too large a sum to write off and will pursue due course in this matter. In good faith, I cannot let it go. It seems they have been sticking it to other customers in similar matters and wish I had done better research before renting from them. Please do not make the mistake we did. There are certainly more reputable companies out there. What a shameful way to do business.

Stay Away And Run

Absolutely the worst experience of my life at MCO/Easirent. We booked our rental through Orbitz and upon arrival their vans were not easily marked with only a small magnet on the front hood. Upon arrival at their facility, we noticed there were about 20-30 people waiting. I walked in and asked what is going on as a gentleman was arguing with the staff. I asked a lady how long she had been waiting, and she said over 1 1/2 hrs. I asked the staff what I needed to do, and they sign in and wait to be called. I can overhear the tenants trying to sell additional coverage to people telling them if you don't purchase the additional coverage we can't rent you the car. REALLY? Well, when you rent the vehicle online, it's optional just like every other car rental. A complete disgrace by this organization and anyone associated with this organization is part of this business practice. We tried to get our refund of $200 and the refused to refund us our money. NEVER, EVER again...I am going to make sure this gets posted everywhere so people will know to stay away.

Do Not Hire

previously left 3 * as we were offered a partial refund for a 1/2 day late hire (at their fault) but company has back tracked on this, and didn't even feel they should contact me to tell me this. you have to chase them at every step of booking and complaint. Worst service every received with a car hire company, its not been worth the stress and amount of time spent on the phone. Wish we had paid more for an experienced company with good customer service. DO NOT HIRE THROUGH EASIRENT. We are out of pocket from a missed boat trip, thank god we weren't using the car to take a flight/something more important other than it ruining a day of our holiday. in particular this is about the Edinburgh branches. If you are unlucky to experience any problem, however simple that means you need to communicate or raise a complaint with this company, you are in for a frustrating time.

Q&A

williamdereklamb

Do they take the money out of your account when you have to give a credit card as guarantee?

TheBster

Yes - they did this to me in September 202. They claim it was in error, but it appears to happen to plenty of people. It is now mid-December and they are still not refunding the money to my credit card. The value was £1500.  I wouldn't deal with them if I were you, unless you want the pain of having to spend a lot of time getting YOUR money back that they shouldn't have in the first place.

Where do I collect my rented car if I were to pick up at Heathrow Airport? Is it at the Sheraton Hotel?

soden

Sheraton hotel Bath rd -have rented twice -no problems

sameera64

I have rented a car from their site to be collect from Manchester airport starting from 21 Aug 2014 till 10 Sep 2014. Can you please inform me how to view my voucher?

HearthrowRegular

Please do yourself a favour, and make other arrangements. While cheap (through the quoted price, the insurance and 'deposit' be unexpected charges you have to bear the brunt of), the level of service, professionalism and choice of vehicles, are so lacking, it's laughable. If you got a voucher through a third party, call them to explain your lack of confidence in this supplier and they will happily make other arrangements for you.
