Avoid Avoid Avoid

Attempting to take out and insurance policy on Sunday for my son that had just passed his test. Attempted 3 times to enter card details and each time a blank screen appeared. No phone lines open on a Sunday so as we believe we had not purchased this policy we moved on to another company and paid for a policy. Later on Sunday we received a text and found an email in the spam stating the policy had been bought! I rang immediately on monday morning spoke to 4 different people and eventually had the policy that wasn't even due to start until this Friday cancelled a charge of £50 incurred and up to 30 days to receive over £2000 refund for a policy we didn't believe we had purchased due to i can only describe as a software error on their part.

This has really really upset my son at what should be a happy exciting time passing his test.

Please AVOID this shamming company at all costs!

Docs Not Received By Them

This company is abysmal and if I could give less than 1 star I would have.

They emailed demanding driving licence proof of address and DVLA proof of any driving convictions.

Tried sending them on their Portal no joy so few days went by phoned them spoke to a call handler she advised emailing them with docs so I pressed the reply button on the email and sent them thinking all sorted. (That was 11 July )

Monday 25 July at 4 pm email comes through we've cancelled your policy today

Phoned just before 6pm closing time but didn't have the necessary information to hand.

So phoned them today 27 July to say I sent the docs to you on 11 July.

Call handler said they hadn't received them so I sent them again to prove that they had been sent. She agreed that I had sent them but she couldn't find any received docs and I had probably sent them to the wrong email address but i replied to their email by pressing the reply button so it had to go to the correct email address.

So even though the call handler couldn't find the docs I resent today I received an auto response reply saying they had received them.

I now have to obtain insurance elsewhere because of their incompetent IT systems.

Oh and the day they cancelled the policy they took another payment from my bank.

No you don’t have to pay for the rest of year

But they sent me a cancellation fee which I haven’t paid and they put it in the hands of a debt collection agency

They won’t be getting a cancellation fee from me when it’s cost me hundreds more to reinsure

Due to rising prices

They done the exact same thing to me today fuming, did you have to pay the outstanding balance for the year ?

Deplorable Communication & Dire Customer Service

Daughter given genuinely xlnt price whilst on provisional licence... £360. Passed test 4 months into policy... Difference to pay on passing (22 years old) £1000....got Policy with Admiral, legal cover etc £700...wording of cancellation does NOT inform of pro rata & payments still due, wording of cancellation email & letter states "due to non payment policy cancelled (!?!) blind panic ensues thinking my credit score will be affected... Trying to get response from customer "service's" is attrocious... I would therefore recommend you AVOID this company for any kind of insurance... Troubles me companies are allowed to get away with such shoddy customer service

Disgraceful Company

My lad passed his test yesterday, spent 5 hours trying to get through on the phone. They finally answered at 5:15 to tell me the underwriters had left for the day. So he was unable to drive his car.

He has 2 weeks left of his fully paid up policy, A Choice want an additional premium of £404 for those 2 weeks (equivalent of over £10k per year)

And if I don't pay it, they cancel the remaining 2 weeks of the policy and he doesn't receive his NCB.

Avoid At All Costs

Avoid this company at all costs, they have caused nothing but grief and hassle. One payment missed due to incorrect details for a direct debit and they only sent an email then cancelled my policy. No call, no text no form of contact other than an email. Left me stranded without cover and refused to continue the policy. Then to add insult to injury charged me over £70 to cancel the policy which they take automatically!! Avoid.

Ignore 'good Ratings' Do Not Insure

Cannot express how much I advise not taking insurance with this company. The only way to make amendments to your policy is by phoning, and their openning hours are impractical for anyone working a 9-5 job (plus the length of time they leave you on hold is shocking). I read bad reviews prior to taking insurance with them and I wish I had paid attention. Any amendments made to the policy are extremely expensive, for changing to business use and reducing my miles by 2000 I was charged over £100.

Refunds for cancelling the policy take up to 30 days, on top of this the money they deduct for you cancelling is ridiculous. One positive though, if you select the option on the phone that you wish to cancel your insurance, amazingly they answer a lot faster.

I have ended up worse off by cancelling my policy and going else where, but from a moral point of view I could no longer insure my car with a company that profits so much from 'young and inexperienced drivers'.

Just to note, I have been driving for over 3 years and I am still classed as 'inexperienced'.
