Sennheiser CX 300

I love sennheiser dont get me wrong, we use them for all our media work at university and i have had other headphones before in which i have absolutely adored. This pair however did not last. Within two months the sound in the left ear began to diminish and 6 months later no sound was emitted at all. I was not using them often at all nor was i having the volume even half way up on my ipod. Considering the price compared to other headphones i wasnt too happy but didnt keep the paperwork to return it.

When i went to the store to go buy another set of headphones, the sales girl told me that for some reason they get more returns on this model than any of the others. Not impressed.

Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've had the same set of CX300s since April 2006 and haven't had any problems. They haven't been treated with much respect (chucked in my rucksack with everything else, yanked out, rained on, etc.) and still work just as brilliantly as they did when I first got them.

To my ears, the sound is nicely balanced with just the right amount of bass and clarity. They block out a good amount of background noise, but allow just enough past to prevent you from being unwittingly mown down by a bus.

I was tempted by some of the more expensive offerings in the airport yesterday and ended up walking out without making a purchase - I don't think that any improvement in sound quality would be sufficient to justify paying that much. The Sennheisers have been great value for money and I've recommended them to friends and family without hesitation.

i bought 2 pairs of these headphones for myself and daughter; both sets have now failed in the left-side speaker in less than 4 months. unfortunately, i dont keep receipts for everything i buy! sennheiser customer services don't even respond to emails. rubbish company with a rubbish product ... no doubt the useless chinese quality control at work again like everything else, but no-one else is manufacturing!

It makes you contemplate how such a small and insignificant minute device can create such authentic, crystal clear, rich sound! The Germans are renound for their build quality, so the reliablility is not a relevent matter. German...says it all really!

Okay, so this is my second review of this product, mainly bcause my first review was a while back. I think I know where people are coming from now when they say that these headphones are too fragile, but they really aren't that bad. Mine took since about April to now, October, that's 6 months, to break completely. When I say break completely, I mean that I have to twist the cable around about 8 times to hear the left earphone and the right is completely gone. I am DEFINITELY getting another pair of these, because I think the only reason why they broke in less than a year is because of they way I treated them, and for £14.99 from play.com, I'm definitely getting another pair.

I bought a pair of Sennheiser CX 300 headphones 6 months ago and I have had to replace them 4 times when they became faulty. They sound great, but they are so fragile that the smallest tug or bend in the wire causes it to fail. They are simply too badly built to survive even quite careful use.

Some people say that these are too expensive - They are if you go and buy them for fifty quid off the high street, I got my Sennheiser CX 300s for fifteen, they are very good, specially once I took my equaliser off bass, because then I was hearing the rest of the music too XD.

At first I thought they weren't half as bassy/comfortable as people said, but I had guesstimated that my earholes would be the medium size, they weren;t. They were small. You might need to put on the small buds if you, like me, found they were falling out or sounded tinny, but don't worry, they will be fine after you change your buds.

I was uneasy about buying these at first as I had never had earphones which go this deep before, and I read that one wire was shorter than the other. Putting the right earphone around my neck never causes me any problems and you actually find that as they go quite deep you have your volume lower, therefore not only saving your ears, but also money on replacement betteries for your mp3.

Sennheiser CX300 fit very well, they are light and comfortable. Sound quality is overall good, particularly the bass, although treble is a bit tinny. They are also quite cheap. However, the quality is rubbish. One of the sides failed after approx 10 months on my first pair. I replaced them with another pair, having, finally, got a refund from curry's. Unfortunately the same thing has happened on the secong pair, this time after only 6 months. I will not get another pair. I cannot believe a German company can supply such poor quality.

I got mine for £14. At this price they are really good value. For a little more then there is more choice and better value like the Soundwise T4 at £16 or Cresyn LMX 630 at £21
