On My 2nd Pair Of The Sony Mdr-v500dj Headphones.
On my 2nd pair of the Sony MDR-V500DJ headphones. The 1st set lasted me 3 years before the swivel joints where each cup joins the headband snapped. I actually taped them up with electrical tape and still have them, and to be fair, they still work great.
I have had my 2nd pair 2 years now and they havnt snapped yet !
To be fair to sony, I have owned and known many dj's who have also owned most of the other brands of DJ headphones, from technics, pioneer, numark, etc .. and ALL DJ headphones snap after a lot of heavy use. I would say the mdr-v500 model from sony are no worse than any other brand for this. The good thing about the sony's is: they have a much wider frequency response than anything else for the same price, especially the bass !
They are not loud enough for large clubs, but if you play in clubs with sound systems of 5k or less, or are a 'bedroom' DJ, then these headphones are perfect. They are small, light, and great to use.

The Sound On The Sony Mdr-v500dj Headphones Was Ex
The sound on the Sony MDR-V500DJ headphones was excellent, but the left ear piece fell off. I couldn't get them exchanged even though they were still under warranty!
After reading other reviews regarding other Sony products, I noticed that the poor plastic quality seems to be a common complaint. I'm testing out Sennheiser now, and hopefully they won't be as much of a let down, especially in the customer service department.
