Don't really need to say much - five other reviewers have said it all. Comfortable, very acceptable sound quality, robust and inexpensive.

My only minor dislike is that occasionally when I first put the phones on, I get some sort of bleed-over from a TV channel: as soon as the source I provide (PC) provides a signal, all is fine. Recommended, and highly preferable to a Philips set that I paid considerably more for some tom ago.

The Welltech Fkh51/40688 Are Great Value For Money

The Welltech FKH51/40688 are great value for money, Not audiophile quality but match a lot of headphones more than double the price. extremely comfortable to wear for long periods, ideal for dossing out in the garden. yes the bass distorts at high volume but fine at "loud enough volume"

They sound warmer than my sony MDR-XD200 phones but not quite as detailed

Not So Much A Bad Point But The Sound Is Starting

Not so much a bad point but the sound is starting to break up on one side but having been used them every day for over 3 years can't really expect them to be in tip top shape. Will need to see if I can get them again.

This reviewer has it dead right - the batteries are a pain to replace if you have to.

Although they looked good and felt comfortable, the quality of sound is terrible with high volume input. The sound completely distorts on songs with any type of a significant bass. What was strange was the fact that it would only allow the volume up to 50% of my stereo's ability and then it just stayed the same but distorted the sound beyond recognition. Not a good product.

Wow, you really have way to much time on your hands mate. Has it ever occurred to you that the manufacturer may have been improved the technology in the last seven years? Logic would prevail that they would have most definitely altered the product in this lengthy period of time. No need to apologise for your ignorance. Some of us have a life, I strongly suggest you also find one.

"Not a good product". Sorry, you've been voted down.

And just what do you mean by your 'stereo's ability'? I don't think you know what you are talking about and it is just as well for those who come to this review centre seeking SENSIBLE advice, will most likely be spared from further audio lunacy from you seeing you have written only one, err, 'review' and that six years ago.

The Lord has smiled on us all again!

Not too sure what you expect from such a modest priced item - they're not expensive Sennheisers, nor are they the same price. They work fine at reasonable levels, and mine have lasted 2 tears up to now.

I Really Don't Know How Such A Quality Item As The

I really don't know how such a quality item as these Welltech wireless FKH51/40688 headphones can be sold so cheaply, for there is nothing cheap about them at all. If I had paid £50 for them, I'd have still regarded them as value for money.

Being the first wireless headphones I've owned, and although I bought them at Lidl's, who don't seem to sell anything electrical that doesn't work well, or extremely well - and no, I have no connection with Lidl other than as a regular customer - I was more than pleasantly surprised to find the sound quality to knock on the door of my £80-ish corded headphones.

I thought a little 'running in' was in order to give these beauties a proper chance to show their mettle, so after inserting the 600 mAH rechargeable batteries into the earpieces and charging them up on the transmitter unit, I gave them about two hours of Judas Priest's 'Screaming for Vengeance' at a volume that I could not tolerate, but the floor seemed happy enough! The volume control on the left earpiece is well-recessed and virtually impossible to turn accidentally.

Subsequent listening to all types of music at more sane sound levels revealed no nasties at all, and I must say I found that piano sounded a little better than on my other more expensive phones. In fact, if my other phones were to go faulty, I wouldn't feel short-changed at all, and I think most listeners would also be happy with the performance of these bargains.

I read in another make of wireless headphone review that the particular sample was flimsy and prone to break easily. You won't find that with these Welltechs, and I fancy it would take the really ham-handed to damage them. The photo shows what they look like, and the velvet material ear-pads are removable and washable. For a 24-hour charging period - the maximum recommended, although there is protection from over-charging - I got at least 12 hours use.

The headphones receive the signal from the transmitter on 3 switchable frequencies which lie just above the television band, so there is very little chance of interference from other sources. If perchance it should happen, then one switches to another frequency on the transmitter and presses a button on the left earphone which scans for and locks on to the new frequency. The transmitting range is 100 meters, so unless you've got a house as big as Paddington station, you should have reliable reception anywhere in your particular pad. I've found only one or two very minor 'drop-outs' - one in the kitchen and one upstairs - and even then, they're hardly noticeable. The phones are switched on and off with a button on the right earpiece, and the transmitter will switch off on the removal of its input signal. If the headphones are connected up for charging the two batteries, this function is unaffected.

A beautifully illustrated and comprehensive instruction book, 12.5 volt charging unit, two 600mAH NiMh batteries, a dual-phono to 3.5mm jack socket, and a 6mm to 3.5mm jack plug adaptor complete the package.

Heartily recommended.

13-9-2016. The funeral will take place when the rain stops. My beloved and much-used Welltech wireless headphones expired yesterday after over ten years of total satisfaction. Ten years for an inexpensive sophisticated electronic item is, to me, incredible value and it is most unfortunate that this model seems to have disappeared from the market, but hopefully the Sony equivalent? I shall buy later from Currys will be equally as good.

I endorse everything this reviewer has said.

I too bought these headphones from Lidl and have been delighted with them. I had previously bought sennheisser cordless from a hi fi shop at £115, and their signal disappears at 25 feet or less these will go 40 yards when I walk in the garden. The sound is bright and clear and battery life better than te senns. Average price of my 2 now £65 and that sounds about right. Long live LIDLs

How do I connect this Welltech 40688 FKH51/40688 to my phone?

Lexdus

Mine is not working anymore. I already replaced the rechargable batteries but only the red light on the headphone burns and it produces just a white noise. The base unit lights do not burn anymore. Anyone know how to fix it ?
