On A Short Break To Barcelona We Had Sampled Tradi

On a short break to Barcelona we had sampled traditional Catalan food but hankered after some good tapas. On the recommendation of a guide book we took a stroll around the Barri Gothic area of Barcelona and found Taller De Tapas, a local chain of tapas restaurants in Barcelona. Unfortunately they were very busy so we couldn't sit outside but instead sat in a window table looking out onto the square. This was our last meal before we headed off home so our eyes were bigger than our bellies when it came to ordering. We had asparagus, patatas bravas, viritas de alcachofas naturals crujientes (fried crispy artichoke which was moreish), salteados de setas de temporada (seasonal mushrooms), trinchat de verdures con iberico (bubble and squeak with Iberian ham - lovely to see some twists on traditional dishes), fried squid, and a beautiful piece of slow roasted lamb followed by a cr ma de Catalana. Everything was brilliantly cooked and well seasoned (some with Maldon sea salt to my surprise - the company is just down the road from my hometown) and put to shame the tapas that you can get in England.

With I think 3 or perhaps 4 restaurants in Barcelona it's well worth trying out if you visit the city, just make sure you double check your bill when you pay as we found several items that we had not ordered on the bill - this was due to several waiters serving us and some other groups at the same time.
