Revamp The Anglers Is Reborn
callled in last week it all lbeen refurbished very welcoming staff and food to die for huge helpings of good old fashioned fare well worth a visit
its a shame your staff members are not up to scratch though; Nurse Susan Kelly JAILED for defrauding the NHS and pretending to be a nurse.
SMILING kindly, caring nurse Susan Kelly looks like a picture of trust as she treats patients in her NHS uniform.
But unbeknown to those needing her expert attention, the crooked nurse had lied about her qualifications and was never eligible for the job she was employed to do.
Now Kelly, who was jailed after getting a job based on the qualifications which were forged by her husband, has been struck off the nursing register.

Honestly Depressive Place
The Anglers Arms in Kielder is very depressing, the staff are completley unwelcoming and the food is sub-standard. The locals are always complaining and they seam like a bunch of gothic enthusiasts. I would rather drive down the road to falstone and enjoy a nice quality beer there.
Superb Welcome Awaits You
Had a wonderful dinner here just after Christmas. Huge helpings, very tasty and great variety on the menu. Veggie option was delicious and the meat and salmon eaters were all well pleased.

Pleasantly Surprised!
We had read some poor reviews of this pub and we entered with trepidation. The staff could not have been more friendly. We ate twice in the restaurant area of the pub which is nicely lit with candles.
The food was of good quality, reasonably priced wine and a good real ale.
The bar is a bit basic but dog friendly (we didn't take ours this time) and at the time we went in (Easter)seemed to be mainly people from the campsite nearby . There is very little else in the way of eating places in the village so it was nice to find somewhere of this standard.

Much Better Than Expected!
Having read the reviews, I was a bit worried about going to this pub, and even took pasta and pesto in case it was as bad as it sounded.
Very pleasantly surprised. Friendly folk behind the bar, the bar was full of locals, and the restaurant full of people staying at the youth hostel (including my friend and me). We both enjoyed the beer and food, the service was friendly and the food was service promptly and was very good.
The atmosphere was good, and we were happy to stay a while.
I could also pay by credit card, which made things easier.
A very pleasant evening.

Having Visited This Establishment And Read Some Of
Having visited this establishment and read some of what I believe to be unfair reviews on this site, I have felt obliged to offer a balanced opinion.. My girlfriend and I came across this country pub as it was near our campsite and we can not be more complimentary about it. If you are looking for posh chrome and glass then go elsewhere, but for nice welcoming folk like dave and christine (the owners) who look after you and bend over backwards to help, then this is for you! The beer was fantastic and the food was great, cheap and really satisfying. They even lent us a torch to get back to our site in the dark, how helpful can you get??! They helped us enjoy our stay and we will certainly be going back! Give it a go, its a lovely place with great staff (and they take payment via card too)!

I'd Like To Start By Saying I Do Not Trawl The Int
I'd like to start by saying I do not trawl the internet looking to write negative comments on places I have eaten/drank but the Anglers Arms severely disappointed us.
The service was a joke and I was even prompted to "hurry up" at one point by the staff, at this point I was close to just walking out but we prevailed and stuck it out as you are not spoilt for choice of pubs in Kielder.
The rest of the night basically panned out with the locals barracking the visitors and the landlord switching the pumps on my ale when the barrel had run out... that was unbelievable and we left after this.
Please do not get me wrong "Kielder" is a stunning place and was a pleasure to visit but this pub is best avoided!

I Work In The Restaurant Industry In London And No
I work in the restaurant industry in London and no venue has ever prompted me to write a negative review as much as this one. 3 of us went to visit he Anglers Arms on Friday 12th March. They were immediately off to a bad start by not offering credit or debit card paying facilities as where is anyone supposed to get cash from in the middle of Kielder Forest? We had an event to attend at 8pm we arrived and ordered our food at 6:30pm in plenty of time. The lounge was not hugely busy, only 20 customers. Half an hour later we were still waiting for a bowl of soup as one of our guests wanted a starter. There seemed to be only one person serving the food who would sporadically bring dishes out to different tables leaving gaps of 10-15 mins between pottering through.I went to the bar to ask how long we would have to wait on the soup and the girl didn't say anything just walked away. 10 minutes later we got a bowl of soup which we all ended up sharing.4 girls stood behing the bar gossiping and giggleing to each other and pointing which made us feel very uneasy and un welcome. Another 20 mins later we had to leave to get to our event and our main courses still hadn't arrived. How long does it take to cook some scampi and chips?
The girl came over at 7:40pm and said- "if it's any consolation your dinners are going in now". This is not consolation in any form and we decided to leave as we wouldn't have time to wait and eat our meals and be on time for our event.
There was no apology given for this despicable lack of customer service. We felt like we were an inconvenience to them being there and I'd discorage anyone from going there. If they can't serve the only guests they are going to get on a Friday night in the middle of nowhere then I dont know how they will manage to serve tourists on a busy summer lunchtime or ever. This business will not be a business for long. Its such a shame that a lovely venue has given it'self a bad reputation.I just hope that someone with some business sense takes over management very soon and turns the place around.

Fantastic Food, Great Value, Sunday Lunch Is To D
fantastic food, great value, sunday lunch is to die for + the sticky toffee pud, great pint of beer Cristeen and dave great hosts ideal family orientated pub a must to visit. lovely lounge/resturant service very quick and very polite staff
Wow... I'm sure theres only one anglers arms in Kielder.....
Just tried eating there - Sat lunchtime (21st Aug).
Dreadful - really dreadful. It looks so good from outside.... Its a working mans club that hasn't been cleaned for a year inside.
The food is so bad... I chose (this seemed the safest choice) pasty, chips and beans (thats about the extent of the 'new exciting menu'. My wife chose a panini....We had both cycled from the other end of the lake and were hungry....We left it ..... The beer was good.
Dont do it! Cycle another 4 miles and eat at Leaplish visitor centre.
