The Meadow House, Berwick-upon-Tweed

As someone who has travelled extensively throughout the UK in connection with my profession, I have eaten in all types of restaurant from the frankly dire to the best. It is therefore so refreshing to find on my doorstep(well eleven miles!!) a restaurant that provides good value in a relaxing environment.

In a time when just ticking the boxes is now considered inadequate, The Meadow House is ahead of the game in providing a level of service matching and exceeding the standards set by national players in the market sector. Mr Hearn and his staff are approachable and flexible in their approach, this is witnessed by a consistent local patronage as well as passing trade. One can call in for refreshment, order a light-bite or have a main meal.

There is always a family friendly atmosphere, which means that parents with very young children are made to feel welcome. The range of available courses is excellent as is the range of wines, spirits, ales and lagers. During the last winter, the friendliness of the staff was especially welcome due to plummeting temperatures. The premises also has what I consider to be the highest standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed
