Quite Frankly, This Place Is A Shambles.

Quite frankly, this place is a shambles.

We went there because we wanted to then go upstairs and sing karoke. We booked the private room for karakoe. So to make it easier for everyone (there were 14 of us) we ate at the restaurant.

For a start they did not put enough seats nor table settings down. We needed to ask for 2 more.

Then when the food arrived, they missed two main courses and bought out something no one had ordered. Somehow, they managed to "cook" these 2 meals in about 7-8mins and bought them out. 14 people is not that large of booking that they should mess that up.

Despite speaking to them 3 times over the phone. They waited until after we had finished and paid for the meal to tell us they had double booked the private room in the karoke bar. They want us to wait an hour and half. We said no, and we would have not eaten there had we not been able to then use the private booth. Eventually they saw our way and asked if would agree to come out of the private room after 2 hours instead of 4 hours so that the other party could then use it. We said ok. We were asked to wait 5mins while they cleared the private room. The bouncer then came in, and although spoke normally, he was very rude in the things he was saying. Even though we had just agreed a compromise he saw fit to try and change it so we would come out after 1.5 hours. We said no, and we had just agreed 2 hours. After a few minutes he relented. To their credit they did give us 2 bottles of wine as a gift to make up for the mess.

They clearly new they had double booked and should have tried to sort it out well in advance and not on the fly on the night.

Then we went upstairs to the karoke bar and to say it's a dive is an understatement.

Despite that, we managed to have fun but I would avoid the restaurant as I'm sure that there are much, much better thai places in manchester.

Siam Orchid Is One Of A Few Thai Restaurants In Ma

Siam Orchid is one of a few Thai restaurants in Manchester that sit on the outskirts of Chinatown and is probably the one with the best value for money. The menu is typically Thai with lots of spicy curries (the duck red thai curry is amazing), noodle dishes (the Pad Thai is excellent) and a range of the usual meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. While we've never had a bad meal served to us here, the service can be anything from ok to incredibly slow to completely useless as dishes come out at random intervals rather than all together. Still, not bad for the price.
