A Lovely Place
Just been for lunch and it was lovely .Warm and cosy on a cold winters day. Despite being busy we had a welcoming reception and were looked after throughout our visit .We only had sandwiches on this occasion but the bread was nice and fresh and the fillings tasty. The food being served to other tables looked fresh and appetising.I was surprised at how busy the Restaurant was for a midweek lunchtime, particularly because of the out of the way location.
I would definitely go back and look forward to sampling he rest of the menue.

Avoid Like The Plague
My own mistake for giving it a second chance, bad enough the first time, but being fair I returned, truly, truly awful, only giving it one star as the quant setting and surroundings warrant that, but apart from that its a washout, countless staff more interested in texting and talking than serving the customers and seeing to their needs or requests. Then dishing up to the table with 'carefully selected local produce' well if it is whoever is in the kitchen must have a real grudge with the local area to ruin the food that spectacuarly!!! Rubber potatoes, burnt fatty meats and cold vegetables, no cutlery condiments, had to ask for any little thing that should have been obvious.
Its a dog friendly pub, and I have no problem with that, it even goes so far as to include 'dog treats' on the main menu I think there must have been a mix up with my order and Rex got my food!......Terrible.

Under (newish) Managment - Fantastic Weekend Break!!!!
We booked last minute and got an excellent rate of £50 per room with full English Breakfast (the best we have ever had!!!). Room was stunning (Mallard and Teal rooms have HUGE baths), veiws amazing, staff attentive and friendly giving us a choice of rooms on arrival and also letting us choose breakfast time. Stayed for a meal (food gorgeous!) in evening and pub was extremely busy but lovely, cosy atmosphere!! We will definatly be going again!!
We believe they have changed management in last year and cant say enough how much we enjoyed it!

Whats Has Happened Here
Having eaten there before & enjoyed it was really full after eating fish & chips
Went last week after long walk with my sons & the dog we were hungry so went for fish & chips again
When food came the fish was half the size as the last time mushy peas didnt contain peas & at £12-50 it wasnt cheap
Didnt see the point of complaining staff didnt seem interested & would probly only replied `sorry about that`
Certainly will not be returning

Ruined A Really Good Pub
I've been visiting the Strawberry Duck pub for many years for the good food but since the chef changed a few months ago, the menu has become very limited and the selection and value of the sandwiches at lunch time is particularly awful. We always called into the pub after a long walk and looked forward to the wide choice of good value sandwiches e.g. home cooked ham and beef. Now they serve a small selection of mainly "open sandwiches" which seems to mean an excuse to serve you one slice of bread instead of two! Even the amount of bread you get with soup, which used to be big hearty chunks of bread, has been reduced to two small thin morsels! This pub seems to be turning into a "gastro pub" which is just an excuse to serve smaller portions and charge higher prices! It certainly doesn't seem to be catering for its old clientele. e.g. walkers and cyclists. We certainly won't be hurrying back which is a pity because this used to be one of our favourite pubs.

I Went To Strawberry Duck For And We Had Been Befo
I went to Strawberry Duck for and we had been before and had no problems. On this occasion though, we sat in the restaurant and were treated to foul, loud language and blaring music coming from the kitchen. My wife having ordered fish and chips (Lasagne un-available) and discovered short black hair in her meal. The bar lady was very apologetic and offered a alternative or refund for the meal and we took the refund. It seemed very unprofessional on their part and I dare to say I wouldn't visit this place again.

Never Again!
I appreciate that we landed during what appeared to be the pub's busiest hours (dinner), but even so...
After paying a total of £22 for two sandwiches, two 'plates' of chips (for £2.75 each I expected something more substantial than the two teeny weeny saucers served) and "three individual pots of tea" (we got three cups but only one pot), our food arrived SEVENTY mins later...but only after informing the 2nd waitress of its being late. The 1st one, a foreign lady, ignored our 'where is our meal?' request, or so it seemed. She also didn't bring back the pot of tea when I asked her to refill it with boiling water, since it hardly covered the three cups. So no, I won't be going back.

Lovely Evening At The Strawbury Duck
First time, very impessed, food outstanding for pub food. Like the way local produce is used. Most enjoyable evening, staff very friendly, no long waits in between courses. Excellent and first class. We were introduced to the Strawbury Duck by friends who go at lunch time. Six of us dined last night. Keep up the good work it is worth travelling from Eccles, Manchester. The word will be spread what a nice place to visit. Hope to go again in the not too distant future and take new people. I had the pate, delicious, steak beef burger, excellent, the beef was from either Galloway or Aberdeen, sticky toffee pudding to finish. Black pudding, fish pie were chosen by 3 people, Gammon succulent, reared by the owners and a sirloin steak was chosen. A good night was had by all.

Excellent Food And Surroundings
My partner and I went here last night for a meal and the food was so great that I felt compelled to write a review. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome from the guys behind the bar and given the choice of tables to suit our 'mood'. There a number of rooms to choose from so you can retire to the snug area or eat in the more lively lounge area which we did. There is an amble choice of food on the menu as well as the specials board and the local providence of the food is proudly boasted on the menu. The pork is gathered from their own pigs and other meats such as birds are shot in the local estates. We ate the chipolata sausages and mushrooms to start followed by steak and ale pie and fish pie for mains. The mains especially were fantastic and great value at under £10 each. Probably in the top 3 pies we have ever eaten! The service was excellent too and the young lady who looked after us was attentive but not invasive which is just how we like it. In summary this is an excellent food venue in a lovely area. We can't wait to go up there in the winter when the fire is roaring!
