We Have Visited This Restaurant On Every Holiday T

We have visited this restaurant on every holiday to St Ives. We remember it originally as 'Moby's'. We have returned from our holiday today - visited the restaurant this morning - it was appaulling! The waitress was sullen and unhelpful. My croissants took 30 minutes to arrive and the rest of the table did not receive any breakfast at all. After a 50 minute wait and numerous tables being served their food, we decided to leave. I advised the manager that I was appaulled by the service and was told 'I am sick of people complaining to the waitresses - it is the kitchen!! I advised that as front of house, who else does one complain to and was abruptly told to 'not be so rude!' What kind of service is that??? Is it not rude to keep customers waiting?? I understand problems occur and all that was needed was an apology and some level of empathy - beware of the response you are likely to receive - we will no longer be visiting the Waterfront Restaurant and put the level of so called 'hospitality' in the category of 'staff lacking interpersonal skills and assertiveness!'

I don't understand why you have given 1 star for value and quality of the food if you didn't get to sample this. As for the service, we found it impeccable when we were there for an evening meal.

We Were Tempted Into The Waterfront Restaurant, St

We were tempted into the Waterfront Restaurant, St Ives on a Saturday night based upon the fish specials which were placed outside.I had griddled mackerel which I was told was caught from St Ives Bay whilst my husband chose the oven baked sea bream. Both of these dishes were cooked very well with good flavours and a decent amount of potatoes and vegetables. We were both very impressed by the service as the food was delivered promptly and the staff were friendly throughout the evening. Despite being very busy, the staff made it seem like they had time for us and even helped to plan our short stay in Cornwall (we really enjoyed Porthcurno's Minack Theatre after their suggestion).Although our fish specials were great, we found the usual menu to be lacking. It was a little unimaginative and we would probably not have eaten here had the specials not been on offer. The Restaurant was also very busy throughout and the atmosphere suffered due to this.If we return to St Ives we would probably give this restaurant another try.
