The Sort Of Film You Watch At The End Of A Busy Day
Friends with Benefits is not as clever as it thinks it is. The two main characters, Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake, are a headhunter and web genuis so they both have "normal" jobs.
Timberlake's character Dylan moves from LA to New York after being headhunted by Jamie (Kunis). Both are gorgeous but relationship damaged after both being dumped so decide to be friends. After bemoaning why relationships have to be so complicated they swear an oath to just have sex, with no ties, no emotions.
The chemistry between them is good and Kunis is charismatic and entertaining to watch and although he does sing a few times (slightly cringey) Timberlake is also good in the role. The film does plod down the same lines as any other rom com even though they both poke fun at other films for being predictable.
It's the kind of film that you can easily stick on at the end of a tiring day where you just want a nice story that ends well.
Not quite as good as Easy A, which is also by director Will Gluck but still worth a watch.
