Jonathon And Charlotte- Together
By now, the whole world must have heard of Jonathon Antoine thanks to "Britain's got talent". This shy, overweight 17 year old has one of the most magnificent voices I've ever heard; another couple of years of development and I have no doubt that will be better than Pavarotti, Domingo and every other classical male singer that you can name.
His singing partner Charlotte Jaconelli is NOT a classical singer- she doesn't have the power or projection, for a start. And so, this album is really "cross-over"- think of a modern-ish tune given a classical re-vamp e.g."Who wants to Live forever", "The First Time Ever I saw your face " etc.
It would be easy to listen to this album and think "he's got a great voice, shame she lets it down a bit " but remember this is not a classical album as such.
His rich, full notes are perfectly punctuated and counterpointed by her softer, gentler soprano. And on "Ave Maria" she shows that she can really sing.
And for me it works, very well.
10 tracks on the album, and not a duff one there.
My personal favourite is their version of the theme tume to "Stardust".
Thoroughly enjoyed, and highly recommended.
