I must agree with the previous reviews. there simply isn't a better online station for britpop, shoegaze, and electronic music, both older and new artists.

You can tell the folks that run the station have a passion for this great music genre.

I can't say enough good things about StrangeWays Radio. A friend who shares musical tastes with me introduced me to the station a few months back, and I'm hooked. It plays music you can't find played anywhere else. I especially enjoy the Black Planet and Vicious Pink shows by DJ Pinknoise on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. She always caps her programs with these gems that are rare, quirky or both. I also am a fan of the Halcyon Waves and Sound & Visions shows, too. Another fun feature of the site is the chat room. The DJs are almost always in there and are accessible, fun, ready to listen to your suggestions and talk music (or food) with you. And something else I believe is unique: For a donation, you can create your own hour (or more) show from the ever-growing library. Where else can you do that? I strongly recommend this station for anyone who loves 80s, alternative, gothic, punk and similar genres. I've already made some converts of my friends, too.

Just about all radio stations today (terrestrial, satellite, internet) suffer from the same problem: predictability. Even the ones that play music that I like rarely surprise me. But Strangeways is different. It's what a radio station used to (and ought to) be: a place where people whose taste I trust bring in new discoveries that they're passionate about, and share them with me. Every day, I hear something new and interesting. And in the station's chatroom, I can talk about these tracks with the DJs. I haven't felt this kind of excitement and camaraderie about music since my mid-20s. And on top of that, they also play some of the best music of the past 30 years...the same varied selection of genres that I've grown up listening to: electronica, trip hop, shoegaze, indie...it's all here. And it's pretty much all I listen to now.

This is by far my favorite online radio station. The perfect source for Britpop / Shoegaze / New Wave. I'm constantly introduced to great new music and new artists when I listen to their station, and they frequently have shows DJ'd by musicians and knowledgeable fans.

As I'm writing this review, their last 12 songs have included these artists: Halou, Friendly Fires, Massive Attack, Longview, South, Ian Brown, Tears for Fears, a-Ha, Rumskib, Hooverphonic, Arcade Fire, and Depeche Mode.

I think that's pretty typical for them, playing a mix of sometimes-obscure tracks by popular alternative artists mixed with high-quality songs by lesser-known alternative artists. What are you waiting for? Head to www.strangewaysradio.com right now!!

i love it how they manage to play stuff, good stuff, excellent stuff i haven't heard before, and i've heard loads, believe me!

I have been looking for a station that plays triphop and shoegaze forever, and now I have found it. Strangways plays an amazing variety of dreampop, trip hop, shoegaze, indie, electronica and plenty of alternative classics. The station is commercial free and it's pretty much the only thing that I listen to these days.

I have been looking for a station like this for a long time and i'm hooked!
