Difficult to review "parrots", there are so many species with great difference in size, price, habits, etc. My review is related to hand raised peachface lovebirds (Agapornis Roseicollis). Very nice small pets!

I own an "Apricot" which is a unique hybrid Australian Parrot. It is a sterlie animal as an offspring between a Pink and Grey Galah and a Short Billed Corella, both Australian natives, fortunately, in spite of culling to placate landowners, still in abundance.
This cross takes the gentle handlability of the Pink and Grey, and the clownishness and assertion of the Corella to produce the most wonderful house pet. I have owned dogs all my life, indeed I once was a dog trainer in the military, and now I would never be without my big "Mac."
Sure, there's the excrement problem, but if hand raised as Mac is, they are a very affectionate and loving pet, with whom one can often have a more intelligent conversation, certainly than teenagers and often with one's partner!
One needs to find an avian specialist, and that may not be a veterinarian, and be very careful about just what the bird eats as they will try anything. As birds have a totally different gut to humans, you cannot be gentle about denial.
Recommend an Australian Apricot, indeed I do.
