Eye Candy Hair Studio, Derby

I have recently decided that I need a bit of a change in my hairstyle and by advise I went to this hair studio. The place looks really nice inside and the staff came across as polite. However, overall I was not happy with the haircut. One side of my hair was completely different to another and there was no shape in the hairstyle. I had to go to another hairdresser straight afterwards to correct the mistakes. It was also overpriced and I won't go back there.

I have had my hair done for more than a year by Eye Candy and have been quite happy with it. Sadly the lady who had done my hair has left and my most recent experience was a disaster.

I needed a new hair cut, colour and highlights - the usual for me. I explained to the new hairdresser at EC what I wanted and she assured my that she understood. However, the result looked different. Although I wanted a natural look she put on way to many highlights, so my head now looks "striped". She then cut my hair too short resulting in a different style from what I wanted. Also, the hair cut is uneven, there is a clear difference between one side of the head and the other. On a personal note, she did not have the previous lady's warmth and friendliness.

My recommendation: don't go there!

Moved form London so nervous about choosing a salon. I chose Eye Candy because it looked like a really fab boutique hotel. Great service and great hair. Better than I was getting in London ;)

I was a client at Eye Candy for 18 months or so. I'm used to Nicky Clarke but tired of going into Birmingham for a haircut, so wanted 5star treatment nearer home. At my first E C appointment I was a bit taken aback to have the same stylist do my colour and my cut but it was overall a good experience (interested in the health of my hair, advised on the overall effect of colour including how it can lift skin tone, friendly welcome) and I think you have to give time to develop a relationship so have been returning every 8 - 9 weeks. The reasons I'm not returning? The salon is freezing (they keep apologising for it but stop apologising - heat it!) and, despite healthy tips, the stylist has lost interest - my last highlights were done so far from the scalp I looked like I had 4 - 5 weeks regrowth.

Had my first haircut there this morning. Staff try their best to make you feel welcome, surroundings quite nice, but it was freezing!

The cut itself was OK, nothing to write home about, but as I received 25% discount I can't complain ( for my first visit. )

I think you pay alot for the ambience, whereas I personally don;t care about the surroundings, as long as the hairdresser is good. I'm still mourning my regular hairdresser relocating to London, and I suppose i need time to get used to somebody else. In summary - it's OK.

I went for a cut and finish with a creative director. He was really charming and put me at ease straight away and listened to what I REALLY wanted, which I find rare in a hairdresser these days!

The cut was just fabulous and I'm going back.

The salon was lovely. Relaxing, great service, food and drinks. It was like one of those posh boutique hotels!

I suffered a bit of a hair disaster at the beginning of the year, and it's taken me a long time to pluck up the courage to let anyone near my locks. Nervous clients must be the worst kind for hairdressers, but my stylist at Eye Candy Hair Studio in Derby made me feel at ease and talked me through loads of really cool ideas. I opted for a trendy bob, and I enjoyed a glass of wine and cute little chocolate cakes (all for free) while she snipped away. The end result? Let's just say people have been stopping me in the street to find out where I get my hair cut! Quite a revelation when I think about how awful it looked before my Eye Candy experience.

Not only do you get a great haircut, you earn loyalty points every time you visit. And if you refer a friend they give you both a box of choccies or a free conditioning treatment. What a nice bunch! I've never visited a hair salon like this, and I highly recommend giving Eye Candy a try.
